DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!! I brought my vacuum to be repaired a month ago and they LOST it! They string us along saying they will order a new piece to replace what they lost and keep saying they will look for it and call us when they find it. When I call to ask about the status, the technician "Jason" is incredibly flippant and rude. He says he has no idea what I'm talking about and then when I try and explain what the owner, Gilbert told my husband about ordering a replacement piece for the lost vacuum, he hangs up on me! If you need a vacuum, go to Bob's vacuum. DO NOT buy one from Amazon or some other online place. It's not worth it. I know because I did so and found no solace among vacuum cleaners. Only went I went to Bob's did I find vacuum cleaner resolve. I decided to go to Bob's because I bought and returned about 5 vacuum cleaners. I knew that I needed some guidance and that's Bob's anointing. They help you buy what you need. They are all SO very knowledgeable and helpful. AND they fix vacs. They've been around and they have the cleanest retail store floor in Santa Barbara. I was even able to demo a product. I didn't buy it but I did end up buying one that was initially advised by Bob's. Bob's took 3 months to repair my Robo vac as it needed a new battery. Then when I picked it up they charged me $25 more than the estimate and forgot to give me my docking station back. I went back and they gave me the wrong one and I expressed my impatience. Then the clerk was very argumentative and today when I called to say that they had given me the wrong one he very rudely brought up the earlier conversation. I don't usually post stuff but when someone quotes me 40.00 then charges me 109.00 mmmm simply because i opened my big mouth and told him I purchased another part from Kirby, my bad for being honest. And he got a little violent and said he was going to call 911 cause I was disturbing the peace, when I said I wanted to try it before paying he was not real congenial, then ended up grabbing it from me and my lovely vacuum cleaner goes in reverse now, they clearly do not know what there doing. Good Lord. The bank is going to definetely honor this dispute. I was unaware of the change of ownership of Bob's vacuum. I'd used it in the past and they were very nice. This new person took my Miele on Tuesday morning at 9am, said it was a very simple fix and would be ready on Saturday. On Saturday I called to check if it was ready. He said no, it would be Monday. I called on Monday before heading out. No, he said it would be the next day. Same story for the next three days. Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, more than a week after I first came in, I asked when he realistically thought he could fix my vacuum as I needed it back. This set him off on a rant at me about how I was wasting his time by calling because he was so busy and I should just wait for him to call me. I pointed out he was the one who said it would be ready the next day so I was just following his lead and then he got really quite unpleasant. I ended up saying I thought he was astonishingly rude and hanging up. He then left me three voice mails and a shouty, all caps text asking if I still wanted my vacuum fixed. I responded by saying I would be by at 2.30 to collect it, fixed or not. Update: They called at 2.20 saying it was fixed. I made my husband answer the phone because I didn't want to be yelled at a again. They said it was ready (so the actual repair took less than an hour). He went to fetch it at 2.30. Once he'd paid and left, the store sent me two more all caps repairs saying WE FIXED YOUR 18 YEAR OLD MIELE (like, isn't that what a vacuum repair shop does), and then two more texts telling me not to come back to the store because they love what they do. I've come to the conclusion that they are not only jerks, but they are actually insane. I sent the mad, shouty messages on to Miele and next time I need something fixed I'll happily drive to Ventura to avoid the crazy read more

Potential Dyson purchasers beware - there were only Dyson vacuums there waiting to be repaired when I dropped mine off. When I picked mine up, 8 out of the 10 waiting for service were Dyson. I love my vacuum, but this brand apparently needs a lot of repair. I dropped my vacuum off this morning, and because I had guests on the way, I pleaded with them for a speedy repair. I had my vacuum repaired and ready by mid-afternoon! ($59) Thanks John!! I needed our Eureka in working order before I left town. They had it done within an hour, called me and I picked it up. No that I'll admit is probably unusual, but it did happen. I do not need vacuum repair often but when I do I go to Bobs Vacuums sales and service. I heard they moved and also the owner had retired so now a new owner has taken over. First of all it took me about 39 minutes to find the location. Firstly cause I had the wrong address and secondly because he had no sign on his store. I called about 4 times and each time I was greeted by a not too friendly voice. The last call the person got down right rude. I persisted but when I got to the location there was no parking. The parking lot was being resurfaced. He expected me to park over a block away and lug three large clumsy components to his shop. Well that was not going to happen so no vacuum was dropped off that day. Well I happen to frequent Ventura so I called All Vacuum repair and the friendliest voice responded she answered my questions in a very friendly manner so I do plan on having my vacuum repaired there instead they have almost 5 stars and the comments are very inviting. Now, I have no idea if the new owner does a good job or not but his sour puss attitude has turned me off!!!! read more

I met with a knowledgeable service guy who was helpful and gave me an honest cost analysis of fixing versus replacing my dinosaur. When I made the decision to purchase a new one, I was then shown a large inventory of options, again with helpful advice. Rather than just trying to sell me something, I was queried as to what type of flooring I had at home. The salesman took care to find something that really fit my needs. I never felt pressured or uncomfortable. Overall, I was very impressed with Bob's. I would recommend them highly to anyone in need of service or a new vacuum. read more

I called Bob's Vacumn today at my husbands request since he has been a longstanding customer for years. My panasonic upright vacumn was smelling like hot rubber. I spoke to Bob and asked about servicing my vacumn. I was told he did not have time for two weeks without asking what the problem was so that we may be able to solve this sooner and trouble shoot together. I was told he could sell me a new vacumn that was comparable to my Panasonic because Panasonic stopped making the upright vacuums 5 years ago. The price 350.00. We called another location who agreed to put a new belt on it and look into it for 20.00 today. My husband found a Panasonic Upright on Amazon for 209.00 so they are still selling Panasonic Upright Vacumns. Shop around and do not fall for this deception. read more

I brought my Miele vacuum cleaner to the new location one week ago today. It was a old vacuum but had always worked. Now the detachable carpet vacuum part was not working. Everything else was. I was told by the end of last week I would get a call to let me know what they found out. I did not get a call so I called on Friday at end of the day. They had not looked at it yet and would do so the next day and call me. No call. So on Monday a week after it had been there I called again. I told him that I needed it and would pick it up. A neighbor was in Santa Barbara that day and I asked her to pick it up for me. I told her it had everything with it to be sure to get everything. When she got there she was told I had said all these things I didn't say on the phone. She called me from there and told me there was no wand, the long part that you vacuum with. Now I don't have a vacuum because my wand is gone. They told her that they gave it back to me when I dropped off the vacuum. I always had good service from Bob's Vacuum when it was in the other location, but I don't know these people. The business must have sold. It has moved and looks like a junk store. Things are just stacked up like a messy garage. Somewhere in that mess is my wand. BEWARE! I would not risk what has happened to me. I just read some of the other people having problems. Bob's Vacuum isn't what it used to be. Service USED to be WONDERFUL. NOT ANY LONGER. I brought my carpet cleaner into the new owners store off Patterson 3 months ago. I knew a part needed to be ordered. I was told it came in over a month ago. To this day, the machine has not been worked on. Another worker at the shop said to me that the part hadn't come in. He was a Very rude and unprofessional person. I have had it with calling the shop and being told that they are backed up and can't get to it, by this other person. 3 months later? Are you kidding me?? No communication from the shop to let me know the status over the 3 months. I just hung up today telling them to keep the machine as I have had it with their slow, unprofessional service. Bought a new one. I was so shocked at the wonderful price I was given for the repair of a tune-up on my vacuum cleaner!!!! Dave is one of the most honest people in Goleta. I went in prior for a cleaning attachment to the hose and I purchased one. Well, it didn't work, so I went back to get another one and Dave said WAIT! He took my original hose and I was floored...he pulled out the attachment.. which was inserted IN THE HOSE..and then turned around and gave me a refund for the item I did not need! I do property management on a large Montecito property and needed a special vacuum for wool carpets, fine rugs, tile and wood floors. I called in and was offered an in house consultation! The first vacuum was wonderful but on the phone I hadn't told them the carpets were wool...so Dave told me he had a better choice for this complex job, and he brought it over the next day. The Miele that we ended up with is a dream vacuum. I did Google price on it and it is the same everywhere I found it. If I had bought it a vacuum online I would have missed the tremendous customer service, and I would not have a vacuum that was ideal for the situation. Thank you! read more

I was having suction problems with my Dyson and I called them to see if they could help. I explained my problem over the phone and they instructed me on how to take it apart so I could check if there was anything stuck inside and there was a pen a bottle cap and some other stuff that had been stuck there for god knows how long. I cannot even begin to say how bad this place is. My mother took her Dyson stick in for repairs. The vacuum was fixed within a week. The shop was closed off and on because of COVID and we live out of the area in the SY Valley so it was hard to get down there to pick it up within the store hours. I work full time in Santa Maria and my mom is elderly. I go in to pick it up, the owner has me pay for the service before he finds the vacuum. The shop is full of vacuums on the floor and so disorganized. He looks for it for 20 min and can't find it. I call two days later to check on the status of the vacuum and the owner still can't find it. I ask, "what if you can't find it? And can you give me a time frame of how long you need to look for it?" He yells at me saying he doesn't speak in hypotheticals and I didn't give him enough time to find the vacuum. Then he proceeds to yell at me and tell me how impatient and rude I am. I'm sorry sir, BUT YOU LOST MY VACUUM!! This man proceeds to yell at me and blame me because the vacuum wasn't picked up within 30 days. I hang up and this man, the owner, calls me back ten times!! On the tenth time he calls me I pick up and he proceeds to yell at me and tell me that he's going to charge me $5 dollars a day for storage. Who calls someone ten times in a row to harass them??? I couldn't even get a word in, he wouldn't let me speak. So I hang up and he leaves me a nasty voicemail. My mother and I go back 2 weeks later to attempt to pick up the vacuum. I send my mother in because I didn't want to talk to him. He proceeds to yell at her and say how rude we are. Keep in mind, he never apologized for loosing our vacuum. The vacuum he gives her is not ours. She tells him, "sir this is not my vacuum" and he said, yes it is and told her to leave. He didn't even give her the charger she brought it in with. So we have someone else's vacuum with no charger, AND it can't even vacuum carpet! It's meant for hardwood and tile floors! No bristles! This is the worst service I've ever had and to be blamed for something that isn't our fault is so ridiculous. Thanks Gil, we'll be seeing you in small claims court! read more

Well, I hate my vacuum, but that's not the fault of Bob's Vacuum on Calle Real in Goleta. The first time I took it in for repair, they told me they completely understood why I hated it: it's "bagless" and it's heavy. But, sadly, it's mine. So they fixed it and I took it home. Months later, there I am, schlepping the hated vacuum into Bob's Vacuum once again. "I hate my vacuum - it doesn't suck, and not in a good way." Marc, my vacuum specialist guy, asked me if I'd heard that joke in Bob's Vacuum. (No...I made it up.) Anyway, he told me my vacuum was, unfortunately, "bagless" and very heavy. But he could fix it. And if he couldn't, he'd sell me another one, used yet fabulous. I believed him. He is, after all, my vacuum specialist guy from Bob's Vacuum in Goleta. (And I trust them with all my heart - because, it's all true: my vacuum is bagless, way too heavy...and it sucks. And not in a good way. read more

Great experience!! Went in one day with mechanical problems I couldn't solve. Patiently explained the problem and said basic maintenance (new belt, oiling, etc) would be less than $50. Called same day that it was ready and it cost me $42 with new bag installed and new belt. Even offered to carry to car for me!! Great service and reasonable price!! Now works like new!!! read more

I had a great experience with Bob's Vacuum. I brought my Kenmore cannister in because the motorized brush wasn't working. Robert explained that they could give me a free estimate and at that time, I could choose to go ahead with the repair or not. I had nothing to lose. I went ahead and 2 days later I get a call telling me what the problem was and that it would only cost $20 to repair. I got the vacuum back and it's working perfectly. I read the Yelp reviews before coming into Bobs, and I was a little apprehensive. People can be so wrong it makes you wonder. I needed my cord fixed on my brand new vacuum because my little puppy chewed it. I wanted it fixed that day because I work 6 days a week and I'm a single mom so needless to say, I can't wait 5 or 6 days to get it fixed. They meaning, Jon, Dave, Steve and the one lady working there went above and beyond to make it happen. It took less than 2 hours. They are the BEST! Thank you for such a great experience!!! I took my vacuum in to have a part repaired/replaced. They said they'd call in a day or two. When I called THEM a week later, they said they couldn't find it. Two days later when I called again, they found it and said they had to order the part. OK, so do it! Three weeks later when I called THEM they had not ordered the part, said they couldn't find the paperwork, and didn't know when they would have a chance to look into it. My mom was a big fan of Bob's and purchased 2 Panasonics from them and I got caught up in her enthusiasm for Bob's. One of the Panasonics has had problems with the upper hook that holds the cord. It was replaced 5 months ago and broke again this weekend. I called to see if there was a guarantee with the work that was done and was told labor would be covered but I'd need to buy the part. He asked if I have a cleaning service and I told him, no, I do the cleaning and this vacuum is not abused (except by one of our dogs who likes to bite the part that holds the brush on the floor...nothing to do with the cord hook which is used just for the purpose that it was intended). He maintained that there would be no charge for the labor, but there would be for the part. We spent $85 at the last visit there and had been told the vacuum would last a long time....5 months?! Bob's is convenient and there's a long history in using their services, but we'll be going elsewhere from now on. Update 12/2/13 I received an email from the owner, Mike, in response to this posting. Unfortunately, it went to an email that I rarely check. He told me to bring the vacuum in and they would do what was necessary to affix the cord hook at no charge for parts or labor. I brought my vacuum in because I couldn't figure out how to get an attachment (which I purchased online) to fit onto it (so mind you, I didn't even buy anything from them yet!). Dave spent a little time trying to help me figure it out and we both concluded that something was missing from the order. I settled everything with the company the next day, but hey - where can you find such good ol' fashioned customer service nowadays? At Bob's! I'll be back for my cleaning needs (they have other items in store other than vacuums). Took a Dyson here. After two weeks they call and say replacement head is needed from manufacturer and we must call to order. After following on line directions the rollers just needed to be cleaned and vacuum now works fine. Bob's obviously never even looked at it! read more

Don't take a dysen here. He doesn't like them. Brought ours in Feb 23. Called him April 4. He said he was waiting for parts and was gonna b around $150 to fix. Another later call back this time says its gonna cost $270,because it a new bottom assembly. We decline repair bring it home , go through it ourselves and find a missing screw for the release lever. $8 part. 15 minutes to fix. read more

After burning thru 5 high-end vacuums my husband & I needed a vacuum that really does what it is suppose to do ! We decided that we would give Bob's vacuum a try. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a highly professional sales person by the name of Scott who gave us one on one help start to finish. Scott not only took the time to find out what our needs where in a vacuum but also what we did not like in the ones in our past. He was certain that our best vacuum purchase was going to happen that day. When we narrowed down the field of choices he then made sure we saw & understood each feature and as well showed us how all attachments work. I appreciated that part because in vacuums of our past I have come home wondering how the heck to use them as they never seemed as easy to attach as the sales person showed. That did not happen with our choice,it easy to use and does an amazing job ! We settled on the MIELE C3 with a poser nozzle & deluxe tools,by far the BEST vacuum we have ever used!
