Great place. I went in and got a vacuum cleaner after being given a lot of choices. Wouldn't go anyplace else.

Took my machine to Bob's and got NO service. I waited a week, heard nothing, called, no answer, no response or return call. I called a second time four days later and same thing. I was completely ignored. I called and told them to keep my machine, I will buy new elsewhere and they have lost me as a customer. We used the original Bob's for over 20 years and they were great. I needed a new hose. He did not have mine in stock so I bought a hose to use while he ordered mine. This hose does not have the attachment for my hand tools to attach to. It's been 2 months, I've called twice and only told it hasn't come in. I will buy directly from Miele in the future. I dropped off my vacuum for two weeks ( was supposed to be fixed in one week ); nothing was fixed no repairs when I picked it up and paid. I didn't know that my vacuum wouldn't work until I got it home. I trusted that the repairs had been done. The owner "Jason" is so rude. Run from this place; don't walk. So disappointing. read more

I have always used Bobs vacuum for my repairs. i run a cleaning company and need them serviced regularly and then parts need to be replaced every so often.. i'm not sure what's happened, but their service is really lacking. They've had. 3 of my vacuums for over 6 months and parts to two others so i have 5 vacuums out and i can't get a response from them at all. i guess they don't have enough help. i think that will be my next business.... read more

I had a five year old vacuum that seemed to possibly have a broken party, or badly jammed. The always were HORRIBLY CLOGGED like I've never seen before. Worried, I left it with Bob, $40 and 4 days later I picked it up. It looks and runs like new!! THANKS FOR THE GREAT WORK, BOB! read more

Avoid this place at all costs! The guy running the place (older miserable person) is not to be trusted. We had a Miele vacuum in for a warranty repair. Unfortunately, Miele said this is the closest authorized repair place for warranties. Our original interactions with the younger gentleman that works there were perfectly fine. We submitted the requested warranty information and purchase receipts and then proceeded to wait about six months for the repair to be done. Quite a long time, but they claim they had to order parts from Germany. Upon picking up the vacuum, we interacted with the older guy who asked after giving me my vacuum back, asked if we wanted to buy a new filter for $57. When I said no, which he didn't like. Whatever... Then he about faced and told be that our vacuum was missing a serial number sticker and because he would not handle under warranty and unless I paid for all the cost, he was going to pull the fixed parts out of my vacuum. This was after it was already confirmed that it was being repaired under warranty and a verification call to Miele. In reading other reviews, it's obviously clear that this guy has a track record for not being honest and from what I can see just wanted to double dip, getting a warranty claim from Miele and have us pay. This guy (guessing his name is Gil based on others reviews) should be ashamed of himself! read more

The owner, Gil, seems very nice, but I dropped my vacuum off in October. This is January30th, and I still don't have it back. A replacement part was ordered, so a short delay was expected. It wasn't right, so it was supposed to be returned and a new part ordered and received. Another short delay was expected. The new part was reported as received. Please ignore my earlier review. All I can say is Gil is a LIAR. He will tell you he is working on it and will call you tomorrow with an update and never returns the call.

He repaired our vacuum and didn't charge for a minor repair. We have been there several times and always treated fairly.

The owner was very rude and can not give a exact date when vacuums are ready came In Several times to get two vacuums serviced and they broke a part in one of my vacuums and have not time for replacement. If you are planning on having your vacuum fixed you better leave it for a month to get serviced read more

Looking for a reliable vacuum repair shop, don't go to Bob's Vacuum. They had my vacuum for two weeks, said it was done and when I picked it up no repairs were made. Charged almost $90 to put in a new bag, wipe the inside, and remove hair from the roller even when there wasn't any hair to begin with. Rude customer service not to mention the place is a dump. You're better served by avoiding Bob's vacuum and finding a reliable vacuum repair shop. read more

I just had the most horrible experience I've ever had at a local store. I would like to warn everyone not to patronize Bob's Vacuums. The man running the store today yelled at, demeaned, threatened, and verbally abused me for daring to ask if the unpackaged, unlabeled, vacuum part was the correct one. He accused me of disrespecting him and although I apologized 3 times ( I really needed the part), he ultimately refused to sell me the part. I hate to admit it but he made me cry after I left the store - that's how mean he was to me. He treated the woman ahead of me nicely (her husband was with her, waiting outside), then was a completely different person for my encounter. He is a misogynistic, rude, and cruel person who obviously does not like women. I did not get his name but I think he is the owner. Do not patronize this business in Old Town Goleta on Hollister Ave. The previous owners, when it was on Calle Real in Goleta, were great and doing business with them was a pleasure. I don't like leaving negative reviews but Bob's Vacuum has earned it. I tried working with Bob's for a warranty issue for 5 months, they never returned my calls or emails. When I did talk to Gil on the phone, I was told the parts were on back order and he would let me know when the parts came in. I never heard back, I had to call back. When I called back he had no record of my account and was extremely rude telling me, "he didn't need to hear my story." I'll spare you all the other rude details, long story short, I don't recommend Bob's Vacuum. read more

WORST "BUSINESS" EVER! And a crappy proprietor as well. Pre-pandemic, my husband spent a lot of money on a vacuum from Gilbert Short, aka Bob's Vacuum. He gave my husband a bunch of crap about why he couldn't give him a receipt, "don't worry, I'll send it to you." That never happened. Additionally, he gave us the wrong bags, always had excuses for poor business practices, the vacuum never worked properly, etc. This went on for months, and we finally had enough. It's important that you BELIEVE NOTHING OUT OF THIS GILBERT'S MOUTH, because if his lips are moving he's lying! Ended up in Small Claims, WE WON! And he's refused to pay. After 4 years of waiting, we took him back to court. No one can say we haven't been patient. Due to his incompetence of showing up late, or not at all, we've had postponement after postponement, each time it costing me more money to go after him. He has multiple "Fictitious Business Names/Licenses" because he's shady AF. He's refused acceptance of letters from the court, so he thinks he doesn't have to show up. He's an odious "man" with a long list of nefarious dealings, all of which are listed with the court in Santa Barbara. While this has been a waste of my time and annoying, he's not the brightest bulb because no matter how long he tries to dodge and weave, he'll ultimately have to REIMBURSE US FOR COURT COSTS, THE INITIAL JUDGMENT AND FOR EVERY DAY HE FAILS TO PAY, INTEREST ACCRUES! Ps. I've put a lien on his property so Gil baby, if you're reading this, screw you! Pay Up or keep piling on the cash to what you already owe me. read more

There is no greater dread than turning on your vacuum and having dust fly everywhere. After googling and reading the instruction manual, I couldn't figure out the problem on my own. I called Bob's Vacuum and they told me to come in and they'd be happy to take a look. Bob was so patient and fixed my vacuum in less than 5 minutes. Brought my vacuum by because it didn't suck. (Ha!). there was a mechanical problem we couldn't figure out that made it unusable. Bob spotted it instantly and fixed it less than a minute. Looked like he going to charge, so we made him take some bucks anyway for his expertise. read more

I used to enjoy shopping and getting vacuum supplies and service at Bob's Vacuum. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly and the prices reasonable. I would have continued to shop there if it weren't t for the surly attitude I recently received. I was unaware of the ownership change and curious to hear about the shop owner. However, the man's attitude was so surly and the way he spoke to me so rude, I promptly turned around and left, without leaving my vacuum for service. The customer service at Bob's has got to be absolute worst. For over two months my Rumba was at their shop. They never called with updates and whenever I called I was told the part was on back order. When I called yesterday I was again told the part was on back order. I said if I didn't hear from them by the end of the week I would pick it up. Instead of apologizing, I was told that was my choice. Coincidentally I got a text after 5:00 stating it was repaired and they would charge me $1.00 a day for every day I didn't pick it up, and $5.00 a day after 30 days. I picked it up today and was told to "have a nice life". I said thank you I will and then the employee (?) said "I know you will" very sarcastically. I don't know whether this man is the owner or employee, but he should not be dealing with the public. It's a shame that a local company that was once a friendly atmosphere has such a horrible customer service representative. I highly recommend anyone needing a vacuum cleaner repaired find any place but Bob's. read more

I had been waiting for my repair for over a year. It was obvious that they were not going to do it so I picked it up. They last time I spoke with the kid I asked if he knew when I would be on their queue and he started screaming at me and hung up. I have seen them yell at customers in their store. One lady was saying that the vacuum she was given was not the one she took in and the guy started yelling at her and she left without any vacuum. I never write reviews...but after my experience with Bob's Vaccuum, I have to share my experience. They had my Dyson for 6 months! I called handful of times, and when they did manage to pick-up the phone, they said the replacement part was being delivered the next week, then it was on back ordered, or it was then on its way. I got a hold of them this past weekend and they said the part never came, but could now order it. I told them never mind, I wasn't going to start this game again, and told him that I would come pick it up. The next day I received a text message saying that I was being charged $20 for an inspection fee, and will be charged $5/day storage fee if I did not come pick up my vacuum by the next day. I had been chasing them down for almost 6 months, and now they were going to start charging me?! When I went to pick up my vacuum, it was filthy, and scraped up. In worse condition than when I dropped it off. I asked the male worked if he could take it to the back so I could grab it from there to put it in my car, and he told me that I could walk it around myself. I was so confused by his response, I asked him if he could repeat what he said thinking maybe he had offered to walk it to my car for me, and he repeated himself "you can walk it around yourself." It was so incredibly rude. I will NEVER take my business there again. It is cheaper, faster and less stressful to just buy a new vacuum. This business SUCKS - DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Called on phone regarding a Miele vacuum cleaner needing parts on Monday. Needed the drive belt and the gear for the power head unit. Jason stated they had the belt but the gear was in the back organized with all the other inventory. Being busy, it was agreed he'll call me back. No problem. Tuesday, Gill answered.... "Hey Bro, we need more time!!" What?!?! So on Wednesday, Gil answers again... I say, "I know you have the belt, what about the drive gear?" Got a flip answer.... " If I walked in the door and asked for these parts, you would walk in the back, and return with the parts or some sort of answer, like discontinued, special order, something, like any other appliance store, auto parts, pharmacy...." Gils, reply.... "so were not efficient enough for you?" Another flip answer.... This is his job and the service they supply, a parts and repair house. Why so difficult, unprofessional, uncooperative. The first time I went to Bob's Vacuum, I dealt with the new owner, Gil. He was nice and professional and took care of my Miele. No call from the shop that my vacuum was ready,however. I did have to deal with the young male employee, who was the rudest person I have ever met in a business. He does not give a damn and just seems angry that you are annoying him by having him take your name and your number. The second time there, I dealt only with the young man. We took it on Saturday and he said that he would have it ready by the first of the week and would call me. No call. I called six days later and he had not touched it and was a total jerk. I used to have a great repair guy downtown, but sadly he went out of business. For starters Bob's is very hard to find, then you have to deal with a guy with a personality worse then a rock named "Jason." They won't even look at your broken vacuume for a minimum of $40. Jason was rude and disrespectful at every turn. I asked him things like, "can't you just listen to it to tell me what might be wrong?" Answer, NO! It went downhill from there, I finally told him he was very rude and I want to work with the owner. He ordered me to my car and told me he wasn't there and told me to wait in my car... I didn't accept that answer and asked the other man working there when the owner might return, he said "I am the owner." I am on my way to Home Depot to buy a new vacuum right now. That is far preferable then having to deal with rude, and overpriced vacume repair service. Do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere, not worth the frustration! read more

Anyone interested in knowing about Bob's Vacuum on Hollister Avenue should read "next door bel air." They kept two of our stick vacuums for over a year saying they are looking for parts. Then they couldn't find the vacuums to return to us. Another time we brought in our Dyson for repair, paid $100 and later discovered it had the same issue, never fixed. The original Bob's Vacuum on Calle Real was terrific. The people who bought it are in over their heads. Avoid this shop. read more

They have, at this point, had my vacuum for 1 month and a half, and have not fixed the vacuum cleaner as of yet. I called multiple times and left messages, no reply. Finally, Jason picked up my call and I told him I wanted my vacuum back and he told me that I would get it back for a $20 diagnostic fee....I literally have paid for nothing. Terrible TERRIBLE experience! I took my Dyson vacuum cleaner in for repair and was told it would take about a week. Their communication was nonexistent and I had to call multiple times to find out the status of the repair--they always promised to call me back and never did. Finally after about 2 months, I received a text notifying me that I could pick up my vacuum. When I arrived at the shop, I paid $195 and was handed a RED vacuum cleaner when the one I brought in was PURPLE. I protested that it was not my vacuum, but was told that it was the one that had my name on it, so they didn't know what else to tell me. The man also said he didn't know how I could remember what my vacuum looked like and I said that I could certainly remember it was NOT red! Long story short, after arguing back and forth, I had no choice but to take the red vacuum home. Upon arrival, my husband said, "we don't have a red vacuum cleaner!" If you somehow ended up with a purple vacuum cleaner--it's probably mine and I have your red one. I will NEVER use this business again--and if you want to keep your same vacuum cleaner, I'd recommend you find another repair shop. read more

I brought my Electrolux vacuum in after the plug caught fire when plugged into the wall in the bath. That was super fun, not. The wonderful gentleman at Bob's vacuum replaced the plug and everything works great. Extremely nice and friendly owner, very informative and helped me pick a great choice of vacuum. I got my first personal vacuum here, a Miele Stick, since moving out to my own place, and it has been a huge lifesaver for me, so easy to use and it makes vacuuming both much less intimidating for me, and a lot safer for my allergies. read more

I called to see if they had replacement filters for my Simplicity vacuum and the person I spoke with said he would have to check his stock and get back to me. While the person was nice on the phone I never received a call back. After a week I decided to try again and was told by a different person that someone would call me back. Again I never got a call back. I called back today and explained the situation and was told they were busy with no apology for not getting back to me. I told the person I would try elsewhere and was told no problem. It is hard to support local small business when you call and they are not responsive and don't return calls. Not the same customer service we have been accustomed to from Bob's over the years. read more
