Well this was just what my daughter and I needed a few Fridays back. We both work from home now, and it's typically 12 hour days. Being new to the area, we were on our way to DQ and then u-turned once we saw the big ice cream cone. We are both so glad we did! The cookies and cream milkshake was so good. While the ice cream is excellent, the customer service by the young ladies is atrocious. We went two nights. Mon June 13, and Tues June 14. First night the girl was very put off by serving the customers. Really poor attitude. Second night, a different girl, but she was working the drive through the night before. We walked up to the window..."we close in 3 minutes so you can only order scooped ice cream". Needless to say, our customer service experience could have been better. Much better. read more

We come here every summer and used to go to Nokomis groves after the beach every day. This is our first summer without Nokomis groves' orange and vanilla swirl ice cream and we tried Bob's as a substitute. It didn't disappoint! They give a similar heaping amount and as much as I remember, the price is similar (and decent for the amount of ice cream you get!). Really the only difference is the texture, which is slightly creamer and smoother. Otherwise the flavor is the same! Definitely try it out! read more

I love the outdoor-only seating on this warm, winter day. I can definitely see how this place wouldn't be ideal at all on a bad weather day, but thank God that today is a great day, or else I wouldn't get to enjoy this ice cream. I got a regular vanilla soft serve with cookie dough pieces and it's great, but nothing special. My little sister got the apple pie ice cream and that's the real winner here. My boyfriend went to get 2 shakes the same to shakes we always get, and usually it's an ok place but this time they apparently had either the new people working or they just suck at their jobs because they left our shakes just sitting there while my boyfriend starred at them from the drive thru and they just sat there for 5 minutes and he's watching the employees just stand there and talk, if they allow people like that to work there and just let shakes melt instead of doing there job then we are never going back read more

Spend a lot of time in Venice, Fl and a favorite stop is Nokomis Grove for an orange and vanilla ice cream cone. I have been disappointed lately - not sure if Nokomis grove has changed their machines or recipe, but it is not the same. I stopped by Bobs today and found the orange and vanilla cone very similar to what Nokomis Grove once sold. Bob also has a variety of Other options on the menu as well. read more

Stopped by around 1 pm today and drove up to order, the chocolate fantasia caught my eye but thought to try the namesake and ordered a soft serve orange & chocolate twist which I was informed that they didn't have and by golly it said so on the order board, so I noticed HAND SCOOPED raspberry truffle and asked for that but they ran out of it, so karma corralled me back to the HAND SCOOPED chocolate fantasia. The scoop of chocolate fantasia was good and creamy chocolate ice cream with a hint of cherry, and shaved chocolate mixed in to boot. I think the cherry flavor came from the ice cream and not the shavings but could be wrong. The shaved chocolate melts on the tongue with the ice cream which is better than chunks or chips that remain behind to be chewed while the ice cream in the bowl is melting to soup. This ice cream held its own against the mildly warm temperatures so no soupy mess. The lass at the window seemed cheery. The only improvements that Bob's could use is to erase flavors when they run out and develop the web page more since not every one is on Facebook. I looked up Bob's on https://www.myfloridalicense.com/inspectionDates.asp?SID=&id=4118156 and www.myfloridalicense.com . They passed inspections with a couple of foopaws and compared to Dairy Queen's inspections Bob's is immaculate(DQ passed their inspections too). This is a TRUE local business and the sole location needs steady business. The Arby's drive thru was full while I was the only patron at Bob's. They have HAND SCOOPED ice cream as well as soft serve. Their outdoor seating is dog and child friendly. So take the kids and the dog for an after school special. read more

If I would have wanted a huge cup of ice cream I would have ordered that. So thick you can't drink it. Have to use the spoon. Guess we should try somewhere else! I'm so happy to have found this place after having had a terrible experience at Kilwin's. Their homemade ice cream has a perfect texture and the butter pecan I had was delicious. The "regular" sized cone is the smallest they have, which is the equivalent of 3 scoops, so you won't feel like you wish you had more. The people at the counter were friendly and helpful. They also have soft serve. And for people with kids, I saw signs advertising free ice cream. I believe it was for kids under age 14. I can't wait to check out some other flavors. read more
