Hats off to this fine repair facility. I recently found myself stranded about 45 miles from their shop, and arranged a tow. I spoke with them by phone, told them what I needed repaired, and gave them the information on my vehicle. I wouldn't be able to get there by closing, and they offered electrical hookup if I needed it since I would be spending the night in my rig. Their first tech was there at 7:30 the next morning, and soon started work on my vehicle. They had pre-ordered the part, and thanks to their rapid and skilled help I was soon on my way. Sorry to post this so late, but I want to make sure everyone that reads this review knows that they will not be disappointed with the service that they will receive from Bob's. We were attending an UTV/ATV Jamboree about 35miles from Gardnerville, when a bracket holding our springs on our toyhauler snapped off. We called and Bob explained to my husband how to best secure the spring to be able to get it to him for repair. We made an appt and parked the trailer in on lot and they got to work on it immediately. My husband asked if he would be able to repack the wheel bearings and do a brake inspection. No problem. He suggested a place to go for breakfast that was dog friendly (best breakfast ever). While we were there Bob called and asked if we could come back by he wanted to show us a couple of things. Great...all I could here was $$$. He pointed out that the other bracket was about to fail, he showed us our tires, on the outside they looked perfectly fine but on the inside they were severely cracked and should have been replaced a before we even set out on the trip, but who looks at the backside of their tires? Bob and his guys Jerry and I can't recall the other service person, did a throrough inspection of the trailer. They kept us informed every single step of the way. Bonus was that they allowed us to spend the night on the lot and provided us with electricity, offered us coffee in the morning. We had them replace the tires and as soon as they arrived they stopped and got them mounted and on the trailer and on our way home. As I walked into the office to pay, assuming that as an out of towner with a repair that had to be fixed and with the added extras I was about to be way overcharged...to my surprise when handed the bill I questioned the amount..."are you sure this is correct? This seems way to low" she reassured me that it was indeed correct. We checked a few places prior to picking Bob's and just for the welding of the brackets was just as much as our total bill. Welding the brackets, repacking the wheel bearing, complete brake job, four new tires and a few other minor things, letting us stay on site and just the warm and friendly staff was well worth what we spent. We have to say simply, Bob's Performance Center was a life saver! We had an issue with our tire that we did not find out about until we landed in Bridgeport. Our lugs had loosened and it unfortunately destroyed the rim. Had an electrical issue with my motorcoach days before my trip. Called Bob's and they got me in that morning within 15-20 minutes. Helped me determine what the issue could have been but the problem resolved itself while I was there, probably a short somewhere. So can't repair something that's not happening. When I got home the issue reappeared so I called Bob's and they walked me through what the problem could have been based on the symptoms and I was able ti fix it with their advice and keep my plans to take my trip. I am writing this review to warn everyone, do not use Bob's Performance Center in Gardnerville, NV to repair or fix your RV. My story begins in May, 2022 when the slide out in our Lance travel trailer failed. I chose Bob's Performance Center (BPC) in Gardnerville to make the repairs as it was convenient and I made an appointment. I delivered the trailer, and after talking with the owner, Bob, it was determined that parts to fix the slide were difficult to get because of supply issues. Long story short, it took eight weeks to get the parts and two days to repair the slide. Fast forward to June, 2023, we were on our fourth camping trip with the repaired slide when it once again failed to extend. We called Bob at BPC and frankly, he wasn't very understanding or helpful. I said to myself, I did not abuse this trailer, so why did the slide break again? I thought briefly about taking the trailer back to BPC but decided to take the trailer to the factory in Lancaster, CA to make the repairs. We delivered the trailer to the factory where their repair team assessed the damage. Their inspection revealed the slide mechanism repair performed by BPC was not installed to factory specifications. As a side note, the Schwintech upgrade bulletin of April 2021, recommended by Lippert Industries, the manufacturer of the slide mechanism, was not installed in the trailer. An oversight? Only BPC knows. Efforts to recoup some of the money spent for the failed first repair were met with resistance and denied, saying in the fine print, any warranty work must be performed by BPC. Ok. But why would I go back to the shop, leave it there again for eight weeks, to fix something that should have been fixed the first time. Caveat emptor! Let the buyer beware! Read the reviews. I strongly advise, anyone and everyone in need of repairs to your RV, avoid Bob's Performance Center. read more

I really don't care about your feelings...I want the job done right Most of the reviews are about the staff's attitude or rudeness. There is not much substance to the claims of unprofessional workmanship. I think Bob's attitude is, leave it with us and we'll take care of it and charge you a fair price.  I will be a returning customer for my large trucks and RV. And yes there is plenty of attitude and grumbling but I would bet under that hard shell is a warm fuzzy person who would probably give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. read more

A story: Coming out of Lake Tahoe heading down the 89 Monitor Pass (some of the most beautiful views) about 3/4 of the way down we start losing brakes. Both brake pedal and emergency brake pedal were floored...nothing. We are in first gear. Smoke is billowing out from the brakes Fluid boiling. Still not stopping. Fuck. Decision time. 1. Cross over and run her into the mountain to stop her or 2. Gather the girls, jump out and let her go over the side. I try the first option and she finally stopped. Disaster averted. We hug, we cry, we shake and walk it off. About an hour later a CHP pulls up and radios AAA for us (no service up there). He waits with us and keeps us safe (thank you @chp) 2 hours later the rig shows up and tows us to Bob's in Garnerville, NV. We sleep there and wake up to a new day. Inspection time. Back brakes survived, front brakes are torched. Nothing salvageable. Bob (the owner) and Gerry (the mechanic) are right on it. Coffee offered, lets us use his truck to get the girls some shopping therapy. Gerry is the nicest guy you ever want to meet. Walks me through the steps, brags about his Snap On tools (suuuper jealous!) and we share stories. Stories are what life is all about. That is all we have is our stories. We sit around campfires and living rooms and sometimes, if you're lucky, RV repair shops in remote places and share them with other people who are more like you than different. These are the adventures of life that I am passing on and getting a few more in for myself. What seems uncomfortable to us is everyday for them. Gerry shared a story of a family from Europe who lost a wheel bearing traveling in their modified WW2 era Mercedes ambulance that they had shipped to Argentina and drove all the way to Canada! They were here for two weeks camping out on property waiting for the part to come from Europe. Every night the chairs would come out, a propane fire pit would be set up, BBQ grilling and making the best out of situation you have no control over. No hotels, just living out of their rig on property. Making stories. Living. For us, we will be back on the road in a few hours, a day behind "our schedule", Ol' Bessie will have some new brakes (and I threw in a new U Joint for good measure) and we all will be richer for the experience. So, if you are ever in need of service or some parts or just a conversation with good people stop by Bob's and say hi. If you happen to break down within a hundred miles of here INSIST on getting towed here. If your story is in the middle of the night like ours was, he even leaves out a 30 amp cord and a water hookup to so you feel a bit safer and taken care of til morning. We had a table that was disconnected from the wall and when I mentioned that we were having a hot water issue they dealt with that too! We were out of there in about an hour. Bob was an absolute gem! We toasted the brakes on our RV and had to get towed. Tow truck guy suggested taking us to Bob's. Despite being very busy, Bob saw our situation of being stranded in the middle of nowhere and took us in. He welcomed us with coffee and WiFi and plug in power for our RV! Talk about service! He took a look at our issue straight away, started ordering parts as soon as possible, and they had all four brakes completely replaced within one day! The mechanic Gerry was exceptional and Tim was speedy Gonzales trying to get us back on the road as soon as humanly possible. Our RV engine broke down in the middle of nowhere and we called Bob's performance to try to schedule a repair. Initially we were told they didn't have any availability until about 12 days later, but once we told the nice lady on the phone we had a major engine breakdown, she offered to help us out and squeeze us in right away, just come on over. Immediately after the RV was unloaded from the tow truck, we were told (even without looking at the RV), that we had to wait for at least 12 days before they could even get to it. This was really upsetting, since they said earlier, they would squeeze us in. -2 stars. I immediately went on Yelp to look at this place's feedback, which was really bad and I became extremely cautious. I took plenty of videos and photos of my RV when we dropped it off. ALWAYS do this, if you consider leaving your rig there (see below for why) After completion of the pre-quoted job for a COMPLETE engine replacement, additional charges were added that should have been included, such as "extra" Antifreeze coolant, AC leak check, etc. This is all part of an complete engine replacement. To just add these fees later on is absolutely not acceptable. They lost a wheel cap, and Bob immediately answered" we didn't lose it, we didn't take the wheel off during the engine repair" which was not true, as I also had brake work performed as well. Luckily I had taken photos of the RV to prove I had all 4 wheel caps when I dropped it off. They also cracked a headlight, and then the tech Adam told me I was a difficult customer, when I brought it up. Bob did take $100 off for the broken headlight and did replace the wheel cap, so I give him some credit for trying to make things right. We also had to stay at Bob's for a couple of days and he was accommodating and even provided power to the RV. When returning home I checked the engine oil level and it was way, way too high, so I had to drain quite a bit of it. Also the bumper was put back on crooked, which I ended up adjusting. Not a big deal, but this gives you an idea of their quality of work. Bob has a temper, so be warned. We stayed at his place for a couple of days and he actually seems to be a nice guy, once you know him little better. However, jacking up the invoice, lying to your customers, leaving me with a broken headlamp, overfilled engine oil and crooked bumper, is not ok. Since Bob was accommodating, replaced the wheel cap and took $100 off the overpriced bill, I added one more star. read more

I wouldn't let this place work on a birdhouse, never mind your RV. These people are rude, unprofessional, lazy, uniformed and don't know the first thing about customer service. I brought my camper to have them check the furnace. In less than 15 minutes Bob, owner, called me back to let me know there is nothing they can do. He told me they couldn't find any diagnostics online and they were not familiar with the brand furnace. They never bothered to call the manufacturer. I asked for them to at least check the LP pressure going into the furnace. They called back and said they checked it and it was fine. Well they were wrong. I called the manufacturer and was told the pressure needs to be between 12 - 12.5 WC. Bottom line these CROOKS charged me $160.00 and didn't do squat. read more

Bob's Performance Center saved us yesterday. We were in Silver Lake Resort, CA when we realized our coach engine battery was only putting out 5.4 v. Had to have it jumped then headed to our next destination traveling through Garnerville, NV. The battery needed to be replaced so we called ahead to Bob's Performance Center. They were very professional and told me they would have a battery waiting when we arrive in 3 hours. Sure thing, had the battery waiting and Gerry installed it quickly. We went to have lunch and the Coach was ready when we returned. How many places today will accommodate customers like that??? Everyone at Bob's was very nice and professional. I ordered some parts for my truck through Bob's, for which they are a dealer/rep. I had some slight hesitation due to the fact that I had been there years ago for a work assignment and Bob was somewhat rude. I ordered through them (over the phone) anyway as the next closest dealer for this particular company was in Reno and I would have to go pick up once they arrived. The parts arrived while my wife and I were out of the country. I had told Bob over the phone when I ordered that I was going to be gone when the parts arrived. Apparently there's not a lot of communication in this place as my phone rang twice while I was on the other side of the planet. I answered the 2nd call as I figured it was Bob's and I didn't want my parts to be shipped back or something. The receptionist seemed somewhat irritated that I was not available to pick up the parts even though I had told Bob I wasn't going to be back in town for awhile. I went and picked up the parts when we finally got back. I got my invoice, loaded the parts in my truck and thanked them after getting a quote from Bob for installation. I have a really good inexpensive mechanic so I wasn't planning on using them for install. My mechanic got the parts and informed me that one of the components was not going to work optimally for what we wanted to do. We had an alternative plan so I called Bob's to see what the return policy was. I was told that they could take it back for a 10% re-stocking fee. Okay, fair enough. FYI, this was going to equate to about $70. I told them I would have it to them on Monday. The new component we ordered needed some sourcing of additonal parts to make it work the way we wanted so we had to hold onto the original component for an extra week to make sure it would work. I called Bob's to tell them I would have it there on the following Monday and actually spoke to Bob on the phone. He rudely informed me that his receptionist mis-informed me and that they would not be able to take the part back. Wait, what??? He then came back and told me he could give me "50 cents on the dollar" for the part. Keep in mind this is a new, $700+ part. Eventually he talked to his receptionist and said he could give me $550 for it but he has no use for it. (which I'm almost positive is total bullshit) After I got off the phone with Bob I proceeded to call the manufacturer of the part. They told me they could take it back, but that I would have to go through the distributor. I called the distributor and they said they could take it back with a 20% re-stocking fee because it is not a part they normally keep in stock. Fine, but couldn't THEY send it back to the manufacturer? Most likely. I went into Bob's Monday when I told them I would come in. Both Bob and his receptionist were short with me and had the gall to point out to me that there are normally no returns on "special orders." Huh? At no point was I EVER told that this was a special order, they are a dealer for this company and are listed on the companies website as such! They both pointed out the computer printed sign below their cash register that said NO RETURNS ON SPECIAL ORDERS. I ordered over the phone for crying out loud!?! I informed both of them that I had called both the distributor AND the manufacturer and was told they could BOTH take the part back but Bob insisted that he was just going to have to eat this part. "I don't want to argue with you" he tells me! I threw my hands in the air with my $550 dollar check and walked out the door. I am SO glad I didn't have Bob's do the work on my truck and will never do business with these dishonest and rude people again. read more

BEWARE! BOB HAS NO PROBLEM STEALING FROM YOU. I really struggled on if I should go to court but chose forgiveness instead... Understand that I have given Bob over $10,000 of my hard earned money in work, showed pictures clearly documenting his bad work and he double charged me without fixing the problem; unbelievable!!! The SOLUTION: I went next door to the left and gave my truck to the nice young married couple auto shop. He installed a factory gasket for $10+ 1hr labor: Bob charged me $1400 and refused to fix it for the 3rd time...After I was being yelled at by Bob, the nice woman in his office, I believe quit after she witnessed how he treated me. I have dealt with Bob's Performance for over 5 years now. My experiences have always been very positive. Over the past 5 years Bob has done service work on my boat as well as my Motorhome. He has actually even done some custom welding for me on a couple small home projects. I am currently planning to bring him our Hot Rod for some performance work and upgrades in the near future. Many people probably don't know that Bob has the absolute BEST of the Best in mechanics working for him. 2 of his mechanics are professional NHRA drag racing crew chiefs. Bob has even done mobile work for me at my home when I couldn't drive my Motorhome to his shop. I personally feel he is the best in town. Bob has been in business for over 25 years. Bob is a old school businessman and he is honest and will not sugar coat things or BS you. He is the first to call a spade a spade and tell it like it is. That's actually one of the things I really like about him. Treat him with respect that is what you will get in return as well as a job well done right the first time at a fare price. I just had one of the most unpleasant interactions with a business owner in my life. I had a faulty back up camera in my 2003 Monaco Diplomat. I knew enough to test the av cable, the main power, the ground, and the feed from the shifter telling the camera when I was in reverse. So to make the job easy, I removed the monitor and camera and took them to Bob. After berating me for not bringing in the whole coach as he "needed to check the wiring" I tried to explain that I had already done that. I just wanted him to test the monitor and camera, find out which was faulty, and order me whatever needed replacing. He was as rude as anyone I have ever met, told me to leave his shop, and that he didn't want my business. After reading the rest of the reviews here, I now know why. I knew too much, and wasn't going to give him the opportunity to rip me off. Talk about poor representation - My sister had an awkward issue with representative of this company. The woman was so spiteful and childish over a parking spot she literally blocked the parking space purposely at the Carson Valley Casino so my sister could not park - My sister had to call security to ask her to move while she talked on her cell phone, once the security guard asked her to move, she then had the audacity to drive around the parking lot and take pictures of my sisters license plate. He has so many motor homes parked all over the place packed in like sardines. So he said out of customer courtesy we will fix it. They had to take off the plastic clear bra off to fix it. We were on our way home from Lake Tahoe and had to stop because one of the tires in our boat trailer started to smoke. Lucky for us, Bobs Performance Center was only a mile away, so we drove our boat there and Bob took a look and told us what was wrong. He did not try to sell us additional services that we did not need. He explained what he was going to do, and did what needed to be down to allow us to finish our 7 hour drive back home. He offered us cold bottled water and recommended a nearby casino for us to hang out while he worked on our trailer. He got us back on the road a few hours later and charged us a very fair price. We were expecting it to cost a lot more and were very relieved when we received the final bill. 7/14/2017 Bad day Loss my Brakes on my RV going over Mono. Thank God I can drive. Stayed a few hours at Carson River Resort in Markleeville (Excellent place to stay) until brakes cooled. Searched all over Gardnerville to find someone to repair my brakes. Napa Auto highly recommended Bob's Performance Center. Thank You 7/15/2017 My Mother and I were Welcomed and Greeted as we drove in. We felt Special!! Bob showed us the waiting room offered us coffee, TV, Wi-Fi and even to hook us up. They even had dogs we could pet or be with. I haven't been anywhere where I received all this Exceptional Treatment!! Bob said we'd be out of there by 1 P.M. Fact we were!! We felt at home with everyone from the Owner to Staff, and a sweet heart of a Receptionist. I can't say how THANKFUL we are for all there Hospitality and Honesty. Jerry is the #1 Bomb Mechanic!!! So I still wanted them to install my exhaust on saturday that I purchased but I installed it Thursday and when I called to cancel on friday.... before I told them I installed it they said they didn't want my business. I broke an axle spring on my 5th Wheel on Hwy 88. I could not find anyone near me to replace the spring. I thought we were stranded. We were headed to Gardnerville, NV to visit friends which was still 80 miles away, so we called a place and was referred to Bob's Performance in Gardnerville. I spoke directly with one of their Technicians and he calmed my fears and told me I could get my RV to them if I took it easy. They told me where to park it when we arrived and they would have electrical and water ready for me when we arrived and we could stay at their business until it was fixed. We arrived late and all was ready. We had power and water. The next morning I met with Tracy, Bob and their fabulous team. I was informed they would get the parts there the next day and it would be repaired. The next day, we were on our way. Very reasonable prices and rates and no charge for the power and water. Bob and his team took excellent care of us and always asked if we needed anything. What a great experience for people just traveling through. Everyone was super nice and friendly. My wife took our 2007 Chevy 2500HD to Bob's as we had never owned a Diesel truck before. She said he was quite cold to her and things got worse when she handed Bob her cell phone so he could explain things to me. Very standoff-ish and short with me. He kind of had the "don't question me" attitude and my wife felt she was treated like a "woman" as opposed to a paying customer. We ended up a Christensen's in Minden and are very happy.
