In fact, we once brought in a list of repairs that a dealership had recommended and Tony was honest, saying most of them weren't necessary and helping us save money. In addition, we always consult with him before buying a car. He is very knowledgeable about quality, lifespan, and safety of many vehicles. Over the past year and a half, we have bought 3 used cars from him and Mike. Tony always fixed them up for us (sometimes going as far as to refit them with new tires for free) and gave us a reasonable price. One car had an engine light turn on which Tony looked at and fixed immediately. Finally, the business itself is well run. There is a welcoming atmosphere and a small, close knit staff that exude intelligence, honesty, and integrity. After driving over an hour to get there I pulled into what has to be the trashiest, most run down used car lot I've ever seen. Feeling very nervous about my surroundings I went up to the shack of an office and knocked on the door. A man invited me in and asked what I was there to see. I held up my phone with the ad for the vehicle I was there to see which also showed the picture and the price. He quickly said "oh we had to raise the price on that by $400". I said ok well I'd still like to see it. He handed me the keys and said it was parked right out front. Turns out that the one on their lot was NOT the same one from the pictures in their ad and instead was a very beat up vehicle that was no where near what I saw in the ad. When I questioned them about this they said oh we accidentally used the wrong pictures. Then he told me to call Chris. I called Chris and told him that the car was the wrong one and where was the one from the ad. He said "well this one has what you are looking for doesn't it?" I told him "no" and asked where the one from the ad was. Then he hung up on me. Total bate and switch! I have rarely seen such dishonesty and shady misrepresentation in my life. This whole company was run like what you'd find in a 3rd world country. I seriously don't know how they are still in business. Please, please, don't waste your time going to these criminals. Meg was welcoming and even gave some coffee shop recommendations to check out while I waited. I made an appointment to have my exhaust system checked out because my SUV sounds like a tractor. The mechanic tech who worked on my car took a test drive with me. He washed his hands and was considerate enough to place a mat down before getting into my car. He heard the noises from my exhaust upon idling and acceleration and was able to identify the issue.... Pending exhaust/muffler replacement to the tune of $1,700+ I ended up changing my coolant and transmission fluid (around $700 for services, including diagnostic fee) as preventative maintenance for now. The diagnostic included a more thorough assessment than I've gotten at the Ford dealership or any other auto shop. They checked ALL my fluid levels, brakes, and dashboard lights. And they provide visuals to let you know where fluid levels should be and where your vehicle's currently is. They provide a video as well of the issues with tour vehicle. They were courteous. You pay a diagnostic fee (about $90) separate from service provided, but I'm ok with that job because of how thorough it is. It isn't just targeting the issues as the "customer states," they go beyond and check out things. They provide so many services, including transmission and exhaust, which either gets outsourced if you're at the dealership or you'd have to go to a specialty shop for that work. I think Old Ox is part of a chain of shops, but I appreciated them working on my vehicle and explaining the issues. They're down-to-earth. The customer service was great. I have a Ford, which means I'll definitely be back for repairs and maintenance soon.
