We attended Trickery on Saturday 04/18/26. Aaron was adept at working with a diverse audience to…read moreinclude them and maintain control of his performance in a very intimate setting. Because it's BYOB you'll get the 20-somethings that feel they have to get loaded beforehand and then act the fool while attending (do you hear that "Neil"? No one wants the focus on you acting like it was your first experience with alcohol) but Aaron was skilled at bypassing them without causing tension or escalating bad behavior. Aaron's attitude is one of someone who has worked hard to make this little venture work, and he deserves respect and recognition for his obvious commitment and work ethic. His act included variations of tricks performed by other magicians, with his own twists. He is an expert at sleight of hand and distraction, which is considerably more difficult in a room about the size of an average residential living-room. He had an appropriate sense of humor aligned with an audience coming to Boystown, an overtly gay neighborhood in Chicago (if you're not familiar). However he wasn't garish, flaming, flamboyant, or offensive; he managed a perfect balance of innuendo humor and audience engagement without being cheap or ingenuine. The snarky one-liners will likely go over your young kids' heads (although bring them to an early show, your 9 year old doesn't belong in Boystown at 10 pm on a weekend), and he carries himself with class avoiding the use of profanity or graphic terms. Again, I can't overstate that his tricks were amazing, impressive, and captivating - as magic should be. You leave the show shaking your head and wondering how it's done - which truly makes it "magic". You would be hard-pressed to spend $36.36/person for an hour of live entertainment that can match Aaron's performance. Pro-tip: If you're driving there you will need to use an app to reserve parking, as there aren't garages like downtown Chicago and every street is filled with so many signs there's no way you will return and find your car not-towed or not-ticketed. Chicago does this on purpose to generate revenue; you'll see "street cleaning" on Tuesday from xx hour to xx hour, no parking when snow is over 2 inches OR any time from Dec 1 through April 1, loading zone, 15 minute stopping/standing with flashers, no parking, residential permit zone only, bike lanes, bus stop restrictions, etc. If you find street parking and think you've beaten the system, think again. Nobel Prize Laureates, Rhodes Scholars, Ivy League PhDs, Mensa members - you can meet them all at Chicago Central Auto Pound retrieving their vehicles. Stephen Hawking couldn't drive, but if he could and he parked in that neighborhood all the quantum mechanics in the world wouldn't make his towed car reappear from the Chicago Parking space-time continuum. The nice thing is if you do reserve parking and give yourself enough time you can walk to many, many restaurants and bars in the area that are open even after the 10 pm show ends. The teacher, Alexander, was so kind and very thorough in his teaching, which made it easy for me to follow along :) Any questions I had or anytime I needed suggestions, he was immediately there to help. I also appreciated his efforts in letting everyone express themselves and not having to follow the class exactly, but more about having fun! I thought everyone working was kind (big thanks to the owner as well!!) and I am definitely coming back to paint more! This location is really spacious with different rooms for different experiences, with lots of great drink options (including THC/CBD options for non-drinkers like me who still like to have some fun). I thought the price was really fair considering you get to take a beautiful painting home after being taught in a prompt two hours (wish it could've been longer since I had so much fun). Definitely look for glow in the dark classes too, that was definitely a really cute touch!!

I decided bringing in a casino company would be an amusing option. Chicago Casino Suppliers was the right choice, priced cheaper than other casino companies and they happened to have an opening on the night of our party! Booyah! We got their "Vegas Baby' package in which you pick any 4 tables for the evening for $1295 which includes 3 hours of play. The tables we picked were Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, and Craps. We paid $595 at the time of booking to reserve the date for us and then paid $700 (+ tips for our dealers) on the night of the event. We booked Chicago Casino Supplies from 7-10pm which included the setup, take down, dealers for each game and all the chips. When I arrived at my venue at 5pm for our 6pm holiday party, all equipment had arrived. I was super happy to see they even threw in a photobooth for us! It's not your standard photobooth but took digital pix that it emailed to us later that week with a casino border - I've added a few to the listing here so you can see how they turn out. A representative from the company came at 530pm to brief me on what would happen which was a nice touch. All of our dealers were really nice the entire evening. I totally can't remember the young man handling the poker table's name but he was so helpful in guiding me in what to do, looking at my cards & teaching me what to do, possibly screwing me over in the process but I trust he didn't. :) My entire group had an insanely fun time! I was beyond pleased with how everything was set up prior, cleaned up after and the professional yet fun nature of all the dealers. Great company to deal with!

Second, the "surprise " additional fees were not even on your pricing information online! So, no, I don't understand that. That's not good business. And lastly, I have written email communication from your company saying exactly what I said in my review about your weather cancellation policy which was so upsetting. Otherwise I wouldn't have complained about it. And you commenting on my review the way in which you did, I for sure would never book with you again regardless.
