I have been using Bob's Laundry for the past 4 years and have always been pleased. I am writing this review because of a recent kindness of the owner. I took a book cover in to ask advice on how to remove a liquid spill mark. He said it was leatherette vs real leather. He took it to the back and returned with a smile as he handed it to me perfectly cleaned! He chuckled and said no charge- I didn't even get a chance to offer to pay. I live near Gulfgate but I was going to a different cleaners that was farther away because I forgot this place was here. When the place that I was going to closed down hi I was looking for another place and saw this when I was having lunch in Gulfgate. The owner is extremely nice and makes you feel like you're the only customer in the whole store! I had three of my husbands shirts cleaned and pressed they were done very quickly, was very inexpensive And they looked great! WHAT A SCAM OPERATION! BOB PICKS A PRICE OUT OF THE AIR AND THEN INCREASES IT WHEN I QUESTION THE FACT THAT IT COMES TO AMOST $8 A SHIRT! They laundered and pressed 4 shirts and a linen T-shirt which were supposed to be ready the day before I arrived. One shirt missing, wait 10 mins while they look. Description given and they eventually find it, but it's not pressed. I wait. The old man, Bob, I presume, brings out the missing shirt and asks me where the ticket is. I say, I gave it to your son. He disappears in the back and emerges 5 mins later and says, I need the ticket. I say you have the shirts in front of you, surely you can just add them up. Without looking at the items he says $32, which is over $6 a shirt. When I protest, he says now that will be $38 and takes the shirts off the rack and puts them in the back. I ask for an itemized tally and he says some of them were blouses and they cost more. I repeat my request for an itemized bill and he says, remarkably, "Well you aren''t going to get one" I have no choice but to pay the extortion to get my clothes. I ask for a receipt and was told "we don't give them". 2 Items were ladies' shirts, but nearly identical to the 2 men's shirts in all but color and which side the buttons were on. Bobs cleaners should be commended for their find work and professionalism. Their personal touch and taking care of the customers is quite exemplary. While we were away in our summer home up north, my wife and I were informed that we had a mold infestation in our Sarasota Condo Unit . As a result we had lots of clothing to be laundered and/or ironed or dry cleaned. Bob's was recommended by one of our good friends who has been a customer of theirs for many years. We took practically our entire wardrobe to Bob's - over 200 items to either be dry cleaned, laundered or just cleaned and ironed. Not one piece was missing when we picked our clothing up - Everything was done right on time and at a very reasonable price. The service was friendly, personal, and most of all, of high-quality. You don't usually see service of this caliber anywhere today. My wife and I are now going to have all of our dry cleaning done at Bob's and would recommend them to anyone who is in need of good quality and timely service! read more

my mom took my cloths here to get cleaned since our dryer at home had broke, I brought the cloths home and I saw on a few of my items there were A BUNCH of bleach spots this was on 5 of my items, so my mom took them back to see if they could give us the money to replace those items since they had ruined it. And the total of those items was $100, they gave us $20 and accused my mom of making this up also treated her horribly it's discusting. I will never be taking anything here again, I recommend you don't either the people who work there are so disrespectful and rude. I'm so discusted with how they treated my mom. read more

As a business owner in Gulf Gate, i pride myself in supporting the other local businesses. So, i decided to switch dry cleaners. I dropped off several garments to this establishment a few weeks ago and picked up today. When picking up I was told that one of the garments was dropped off with holes. This was a brand new shirt that was purchased and then taken to the cleaners before it was even worn. I explained this to the owner and a few staff members, and all they could say was "I don't know what to tell you." I offered to pay for the other garments, but when they didn't accept debit cards and I didn't have cash the owner told me to just take my items - I said I would happily pay for the work he did, but he said just go ahead, no problem. At this point I was feeling ok about the establishment and would not be writing this review. Here's the kicker. As I was pulling out his 2 female employees were staring me down from inside their work area, and one pointed at me and said "you're a B****". I couldn't believe what happened! I honked and pulled away. I will never use them again, and as a business owner in Gulf gate will not be supporting them or endorsing them in the future. read more

Careful with my clothing I often wear certain tops only for a few hours at a time, at a dinner, a show, special event, vacation outing, then remove when I return home or to hotel to avoid excessive dry cleaning. Having been impressed with Bob's I began bringing down some clothing from the north. Upon pick up of 2 sweaters , I noticed one had an orange like substance stain on front and other had grayish blotches. Perhaps wet colored clothing were on top of my sweaters? This was the very first time these designer sweaters had been dry cleaned, no stains, just needed refreshing. I returned to Bob's showed the stains, items still in plastic. Agreed to redo however, they looked old and over dry cleaned. The sheen of fabric threads, was gone in white top, other sweater looked old. I had asked to speak with Bob, directly. I politely explained what had happened and he accused me of getting tops dirty and stained and expecting him to fix the problem and he had done his best to clean them. read more

I had a very odd experience at Bob's cleaners, I was desperate to iron my sons shirt for an engagement he had the next day. I walked in and asked if they do ironing on the spot, the owner Bob said yes with a smile so I brought in the shirt, a white men's button-down and handed it to Bob mentioning how nice that shirt looks like, I was proud of how the shirt was so nice and clean because I was able to take some coffee stains my son put on the shirt a few months ago, it took me a whole week to remove those stains. Anyway while I was waiting i've noticed a very strong odor of curry another customer and I referred to the strong curry smell. Bob took the shirt back to be ironed and comes back a few moments later saying that the girls in the back are having a pizza lunch so it might take a few minutes, I said jokingly no problem as long as they don't get Pizza stains on the shirt. Bob turned around disappear to the back and brought me my shirt back saying I'm not welcome there and they will not iron my shirt because he doesn't have a good feeling about me and who I am. I must say that I was blown away by that respond. I asked what did I do? he said you pointed out that the shirt looks good. I tryed to explain myself but he just shut me down. I know some of you out there think that I'm not telling the whole truth but this is exactly what happened. So to give you heads up the place reeks of strong curry smell which no doubt will catch onto your clothes. The owner Bob is clearly an oddball and will judge you too by what clothes you wear or the person he decides you are. So be careful not to say the wrong thing otherwise who knows what will happen to your clothes. It kind of felt like the soup Nazi from Seinfeld only weirder. Sad very sad . read more
