And I mean RUDE! The disgruntled tow driver was rolling his eyes, sighing, and acting like a grumpy 5 year old the entire time. I try to give the benefit of the doubt and have patience. Maybe he was having a bad day. But even after I paid him and thanked him repeatedly, he had the nerve to take up more of my time and complain about the sound of my truck, among other things. Basically the business is run by an annoying boomer who enjoys price gouging and thinks he knows everything. Next time I will call the guy on 220 in Oxford who was incredibly pleasant (even in 10 degree weather and icy roads at midnight) and charges $50 less to tow 20 miles longer!! Forget this place.

And I was given a rate of 700 before the day I called to get my vehicle out of there. I even called on that Monday to no response but only a dismissive "we where busy" I surely do understand that, but when your charging 95 a day YOU DONT GET TO BRUSH OFF CALLS OF SOMEONE TRYING TO GET THEIR CAR OFF YOUR LOT. This all with the most rude person on this earth on the phone with me still making threats. I'm not so silly to just come and drop a one star just because it's so fun, every thing has a reason. Another reason being the mechanic you brought it too says that you guys caused more damage to my cars frame due to you guys NOT KNOWING how to do your jobs, you think someone is going to go for that? Tow service 90 minutes out... beautiful spring day.. we could sit on side of highway. Slowly drove the vehicle to gas station.. no help.. our road side suggested a nearby place.. don't sell tires, made it to another place a mile up.. don't have our size tire.. I made a call to Jordan Boudreau He didn't have our size but was going to get and come to us at Carroll's Motors- guy there very nice- sat in his lot and waited for Jordan....he drove over an hour to get the right tire and came back to replace it.. above & beyond.. safety first- kind & friendly.. willing to help. May I add trust.. we then had to drive to his shop to pay.. thank you.. thank you for showing up and helping strangers.. for going out your way.. giving of yourself. You are a blessing.. we arrived home safely 7 hours later in total.

While traveling, I was caught in a sudden deluge rainstorm. Visibility was instantly brought to…read morezero. A tree 8 feet up a bank on the roadside fell and struck our car while we were in motion. The windshield and sunroof were shattered, and the roof peeled back like a tin can. Serious injuries resulted. The NYS Police notified Val-U auto to remove the car. Incident occurred Thursday afternoon. By Friday 1200 noon, I called Val-U Auto to pay the fees and remove the car from lot (As Stated I am traveling and not from the area. Vehicle has Liability Insurance only) Dispatcher stated she would call me in an hour with price and vehicle location. 2 hrs later I followed up with another call. Dispatcher stated the owner had not told her the price yet. Keep in mind 5:00pm is closing time, And they are not open on weekends. I called again about an hour later, reminding the dispatcher that I wanted to remove the car today because i am traveling and did not want to incur fees and would not be i. town on Monday Morning when they opened again. Dispatcher hung up on me. I notified Geico who called the dispatcher but also was unable to get a price. This company clearly has an MO of holding your car, license plates, and time ransome. They clearly had no intention of releasing the vehicle until they could squeeze every last storage dollar they could. This company should not be placed in a position of public trust and utilized by the NYS Police. I will need to travel 250 miles back to Owego on Monday. I will be notifying Christoper Friend, Tom O'Mara, Peter Oberacker, in addition to my local NYS Rep., and Tioga county Rotation Tow list coordinator. My next stop after this review is the BBB. As a retired police officer, I can say that we would never allow this type of behavior from the Tow Companies on our list. I will be making the Major at NYSP Troop C aware of the occurrence also.
