Absolute lifesavers. While visiting SF with my friends for summer vacation, my car experienced severe complications that resulted in loud clanking and "crunchy" noises as we drove around the city. The noise, combined with handling of the car, echoed through the streets of SF, so we needed auto service ASAP! That's when we stumbled across Bob's Auto Service -- a fateful discovery that saved us from the dangers of mechanical failure. After entering the auto shop, we were greeted by Bob's son who took the time to listen to our concerns. He was communicative not only during our initial consultation, but went above and beyond by communicating updates of the car inspection and repair. With Bob's examination, he quickly determined that there was problems with the rear wheel hub and with rear brakes. (I've brought my car into other auto shops for the same concern, but no other mechanic mentioned these problems). Bob attentively listened to my questions, and even pinpointed, demonstrated, and explained the aforementioned issues. After agreeing to these repairs, Bob helped me get these problems resolved -- despite having other cars to take care of. The repairs, which he completed the same day, successfully resolved a potentially threatening issue with my car. And for that, my friends and I are sincerely grateful. They submitted everything to my insurance within a day (two tires and my fuel tank!) and despite the struggles with getting a finalized estimate from the claims adjuster - the work was done within 24 hours once the dust settled. Shout out to the best shop in SF! Literally one of the most responsive, reliable, friendly people no joke. I had my Infiniti G35 coupe out for a couple months because I over torqued my fuel pump hole and it end up leaking gas and leaving a strong smell so I ended not driving the car and having to tow the car up to a 76 shop by sunset and they didn't do anything beside put a different screw that's not supposed to be for the fuel pump. They didn't want to change my fuel tank because it was before New Years and it was "busy". I had no idea what else to do so I found a shop not to far from my apartment, Bobs auto. I had a lady pick up supper friendly I forgot her name, I told her the issues and they said they would take care of it and order the fuel tank, so I tow it again but to Bobs auto. We were talking about replacing my fuel tank and they didn't have a problem replacing it. I also had Jonathan texting me through messages it was really cool and made me feel good that my car is in good hands. They also changed my thermostat housing for coolant that I had in the vehicle and camshaft sensor. The car runs like new now, more throttle response, no smell of gas or leaks. Without a doubt this shop will take care of your car. Give them a call for a head of time, tell them your car issue or maintenance and they'll take care of it, they're amazing people, they will take care of your car. Last week, my 2013 Honda Accord blew a head gasket. I had to get my car towed to a auto repair shop ASAP. Best place ever and kindest soul!! Been here twice now. First for a smog check, so quick and fast. Next to get a front license plate attached. Pulled up without calling ahead and he said "no problem" didn't even have to get out of my car and he had it drilled on in less than 5 minutes!! He said I owed him nothing and I tried to tip him and he refused to take it!! I left the tip for him there anyways. Cherry on top was that my car was stuck in the lot because there was a ton of traffic and pedestrians so I couldn't get out, but he stopped traffic to direct me out. Originally Bob's Auto Service was a savior as I needed a battery during a holiday weekend. But 14 months later, said battery is already dying and when I stopped by Bob's they told me that they would only switch it out if I paid since they said it was over a year. When I told them the battery has a 24 month free replacement warranty they said the store they got it from only has a one year warranty. They changed their story a couple times and it wasn't until I showed them that on the battery it clearly says 24 month free replacement warranty, they told me to leave the car with them and they'd get back to me. They called me back 30 minutes later and now said they would change it but I'd have to pay $50 for labor. This baffles me as changing a battery takes 2 minutes AND I feel I shouldn't be paying for something under warranty. read more

Even though it was almost 6pm when my car broke down, and bob's closes at 630, Bob's stayed open for me to bring my car in. They were able to fix my car within 24 hours and were so nice. I had a check engine light come on from my Acura TL. Brought it into Bob to see what he can do about it and to diagnose and fix the problem. He told me that to do a full detailed inspection with the codes simplified and to figure out what parts need to be replaced and the hours, he said he would charge me $50 for the full diagnostics. Afterwords, he told me that if I was to fix the car there, the $50 would be waived because the job will be done anyways at his auto repair facility. Sounds reasonable. I left the car there in the morning and picked it up afterwork. The mechanic told me that there were various codes such as P1166 which was the heater circuit fault, P0301 which was a Misfire on the Cylinder and P0128 which was the Coolant Thermostat sensor. I'm worried out of my mind because all these codes sound very dangerous and expensive. After having a long talk with the mechanic, he gave me a good price for everything to be fixed/replaced for under $1,000. After him giving me a more accurate estimate and which part is which (I'm not an expert at this), I gave him an ok to start the work on the vehicle and to notify me when the car was ready. Had to ask if I could leave the car overnighted since I was worried the car would stop on my way home. He said that that would be fine and that the car should be ready by the end of the today tomorrow. The car was fixed and the check engine light is now gone. Car is running more smoother and it felt more power than before. From evaluating my experience, Bob deserved a 5 stars on professionalism, 5 stars on the work and 5 stars on customer satisfaction and another 5 stars for giving me an excellent estimate. If in the future I have any problems with my TL, I'm coming back here. read more

I've been going to Bob's Auto Service for some time now. My BMW needed an oil change. The oil change costed around $60.00 for full synthetic oil. Afterwords, I had to get my brakes checked and they said that my brakes only had less than 10 percent. They replaced my brakes for around $150 for both front and back during the time when they had a deal. I also had my tires patched because someone plugged a nail to my front tire. What a bummer. They offered to patch my tire for a discounted price of $15 because I always bring in my vehicles for maintenance. The owner is too nice. They saved me and my wallet a lot of money! I'm so grateful for your help! My BMW is now running like a beast. Thank you so much Bob's Auto Service! Update 7/15/2017: My BMW is having more and more problems. Oh boy. I brought it in today to see what was the problem with my vehicle. My vehicle wouldn't start and my transmission needs a replacement. The estimate they gave me for the rebuilt replacement was around $2,930 for just the part which isn't a bad deal. The starter was also around $550 which isn't bad either. I honestly think I have done the right choice by bringing in my vehicle here for servicing. They are really nice and are very caring to my vehicle. Most importantly, Me and my wallet is happy so for me, it is literally a win-win situation. But all honestly, if my vehicle is going to keep having problems like this, I might as well sell it or junk it and get a new one. Anyways, Thank you so much Bob's Auto Service! Update 8/2/2017: I picked up my BMW today and paid off the auto repair bill. My bill was less than $4,500! I expected to be more because of the work and hours they put into my vehicle but guess not! FYI: I also opened up a Discover It Miles Credit Card (My Credit Limit: $16,500 [Discover is super generous so far to me!] ) while I'm at it to pay for the auto repair bill. For the Discover It Miles card, every dollar I spend I get 1.5X Miles on all purchases or as I like to call it the "Unlimited 1.5% cash back card" since you can convert the miles into cash back to your bank account. Plus, they also double your cash back for new card members on the first year! Meaning if you've earned $20.00 cash back by the end of the year, it becomes $40.00! YES, DOUBLE THE CASH YOU EARNED! But that's only for new card members and they only double it once in your first anniversary year. After that, it's all Unlimited 1.5X Miles on all purchases which again can be converted into cash which then can be transferred to your bank account. So let me see, I saved a whole lot of money, me and my wallet is happy, paid the auto repair bill and got 1.5X Miles per dollar spent on my Discover It Miles card... OH YEAH YOU BET I'M HAPPY! After the call, I feel confident that my vehicle is going to be taken care of and will be well ready. My car was making loud noises under the hood. I brought it in and the mechanic determined that the Serpentine belt needed to replaced. I also needed a tire patch because my tire has a nail in it. I was late for a for a meeting so I left my car there until they finished the job. The mechanic said he will take care of everything and will let me know the status of my car in an hour. The mechanic then called me in an hour and said the price to replace it would be $60.00. The mechanic also said that he won't charge me for the tire patch because the nail wasn't as deep inside. I called them today for a transmission fluid change and to change the brakes for my Mercedes S550. They said it will be done in around 2 hours since they have another vehicle behind me. I asked them if I can come back just a bit later since I have to go to Trader Joe's and Safeway to buy groceries. They said it will be fine as long as I come back in time because their lot was really packed. They tried their best to accommodate my needs even though they were busy. Thank you Christine! After I came back, they also informed me that my oil needed to be done asap because it was very dark and that it might hurt my engine. Since I'm here already, I might as well do it anyways. After the mechanic went under to do the oil, he showed me how dark it was. I was shocked to the point where I got scared. The oil light was on but I was hoping I can run the car a bit longer before I change it. Thank God they caught it or else I would be spending money on a new engine.
