Sitting on a lonely stretch of highway, just calling out to you to swing the car in. Serving ice cream, shakes, malts, burgers and hot dogs served through the windows of a teepee shaped shack. Some picnic tables under cover. Plenty of parking and also a drive in window. Usually I get vanilla but I had a sudden craving for swirl; so I was pretty disappointed there was no chocolate available due to a broken machine. Service...while definitely friendly, there was a significant problem. I was waited on by a very young girl who needs better training, in particular making sure she is clear on whether you wish a cone, a cup, a shake, or something else. Repeating the customer's order would be a good idea. I see that iced coffee is advertised as being available all day. It was getting towards evening so I passed, but I love iced coffee so next time we're heading up this way in the morning I will definitely give it a try, and check on the chocolate ice cream status, and hopefully update another star.

K&J's have a very courteous and friendly young crew working for them. (Unfortunately, not common in this area; thus, bonus!) The shoppe is also clean, bright, and inviting. Kiddos will enjoy seeing Annabelle, the store's mascot, in addition to use of the color-changing spoons. K&J's have a plethora of homemade hand-dipped flavors, in addition to shakes and soft serve offerings. Flavors are frequently changed up with new additions. Small spoon samples are happily provided as are (reasonably priced!) doggy cups (although pups need to enjoy theirs outdoors). The ice creams aren't made in house but they have them shipped in from Wisconsin and they are very creamy and tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable and the portions were generous. The customer service was top notch. If you are in the area give this ice cream a try and you'll be happy you did. Definitely will be returning soon and telling friends and family to get out, support local and enjoy some indulgent treats.

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza for my sons Birthday last Saturday. I pulled over and immediately called them. The same young man who rang up my pizza answered the phone. I politely told him that the pizza was burned and dried up. I told him I was surprised because I saw him personally look it over before handing it to me through the window. The phone went quiet. No apology and no offer to make it right. He mumbled that he would go talk to the person running the oven. He acted annoyed or put out. When he got back on he said they would remake my pizza. When I returned to Picnic's to get my new pizza, I showed them the burned mummified pizza they had served me. It was a young lady at the window and the same guy from earlier behind her grabbing my new pizza. I asked her if they thought that burned up pizza was acceptable to serve to customers and she apologized and looked embarrassed when she saw the it. The new remake pizza was only ok. Nothing special at all. I've had better frozen pizza. I remember when Picnic's used to have great pizza a couple years ago but something has definitely changed. I believe they sold the company to someone else. It seems to be run by young people. They looked like high school kids. They did not refund my money for the pizza but did give me a coupon for $5 off my next order. I don't believe there will ever be a next order.
