But the attendant was non-communicative and dour-looking, not even responding to me when I tried to make small talk. (And here I was, upon pulling in to this station and seeing that this was a full-service station, how I told my kids in the car that this is how gas stations USED to be, with friendly attendants who filled the gas tank and washed the windows and even checked your tires' air pressure. At least, when I was growing up, this is how they were! Very Norman Rockwellian and reminiscent of Americana. Anyone out there remember the drinking glasses you used to get at old gas stations? And how friendly the attendants were? And helpful?). Anyhow, this attendant was the antithesis of that friendly attendant of yore. Very disappointing.

I only pulled in to this place because they didn't have a line down the parking lot. To make a long story short, the guy said if I had them replace one of my two reverse lights then he would give me a sticker even though the windshield washer doesn't work. Ehhhh... I can replace the light bulb in minutes and minimal cost myself, but now they have my car captive and want a premium for service I don't want. If I don't have the bulb replaced by them I have to not only replace the bulb but fix the windshield washer because it's now on the report. I appreciate that this place does a through inspection, I've lived in states where they don't inspect (AL) and it's scary. I don't appreciate feeling like i'm being asked to bribe the guy for a sticker, even if it is in a roundabout way. To make it better I get to visit them again in the next 60 days unless I want to pay to have the inspection done again somewhere else. If you're driving down the street looking for an inspection, there may be a reason why one place is dead quiet while the others are busy. I have four cars to inspect, I won't make this mistake with the others.

I've been offered booze at the end of the day when they are sitting around shooting the S after they've wrapped up their day and I've shown up to pick up my car. However, the past few times I've been there I don't believe my service has been up to par on my vehicle. The last time I went in there a few weeks ago, I heard a loud banging noise in the right front of my sedan. I had recently replaced my transmission so they told me the banging noise was related to that and a bolt needed to be put back in that had fallen out. While it was in the shop, I also asked for an alignment, tire rotation and oil change. After the labor to put in the bolt and the other three services, my bill came out to $150 which I was pleased with. A few days later, my car is pulling to the left again and the banging persists. I took the vehicle to my actual dealership and they discovered my drive shaft needed to be completely replaced for $700. I don't know if Montvale Service has a computer that can hook up to my specific car to realize where the issue is coming from, but it literally took this mechanic 10 minutes at the dealership to realize what was wrong. So I feel slightly betrayed. One, because I don't know if I was just getting lip service about the "missing bolt" on my transmission and this being the issue or two, I don't think the alignment was done even though I was charged for it. I thought about going back a week later and complaining about everything but decided to write their first Yelp review instead. Their prices have always been reasonable, I just hope they are actually doing the work they said they were going to do and not just taking your money for nothing. Caveat emptor.

I was taking my car to East Main Auto because they were close and worked on my car. They had no idea what they were doing and since I am a young girl who knows absolutely nothing about cars they kept replacing parts that didn't need to be replaced just because they were expensive. I paid 1500$+ there and they did not fix anything. The final time I went there they charged me 1000$+ and told me that they can't fix my car. Well, since they didn't fix anything that I needed my car broke one day. My transmission wouldn't change gears and was literally a bomb that was just building pressure and heat. I could only go 25 MPH! I heard about beetle bug from one of my friends and called him up and he took my car. The guy was very nice and read all my lights on my dashboard and told me exactly what was wrong. It was a Friday so I couldn't get my car fixed that night because they were closed on weekends. I left it there until Monday and beetle bug fixed it! It was a mass air flow sensor that needed to be replaced. That sensor fixed my turbo too that the other place claimed to be a break booster. Beetle bug also made sure other things were fixed too so I wouldn't have another problem like that. I also had a problem the other day as well. I was driving home from school and not even 5 minutes down the road my check engine light started blinking. I was freaking out but my dad suggested to try driving it at least to my house. I started driving and 10 seconds later the check engine light started blinking again and a burning rotten egg smell started coming from my car. I had to drive to the closest gas station that would take foreign cars and they told me they won't even read my light for another hour and a half. I called beetle bug and he told me to come in and he will do it right away. He told me if it was something major he wouldn't be able to fix it right then. I drove it there and he read my lights and found out it was just a coil pack. He put it as his first priority and fixed it in less than an hour. I cannot put into words how greatful I am for this place and I hope everyone goes to him. This place is my savior

I found Beetle Bug III, specializing in VW with a single but glowing review from Jan L. On the strength of that review I took my car there for diagnosis and repair; I'm very glad I did. Tad listened to my description of the problem, asked some good questions then said that he suspected the plastic water pump impeller had broken. I asked him to check the brakes while he had the car. He called me later to confirm that was the problem. The repair was done and he called when the car was ready. When I picked up the car, he showed me the damaged impeller, he explained my brakes had about 5000 miles left on them and also pointed out that my front tires would need to be replaced soon. He concluded the transaction by stating that their work was guaranteed. Tad and his brother run an excellent shop; I highly recommend them. Tad does it again! The timing belt broke as I was driving to work on Friday morning. I called Tad and explained the problem, he was concerned that one of the systems powered by the belt might have seized to cause the failure and that it might be more than just a problem with the belt. I took my car to him after work on Friday expecting to have to leave it for a few days. When I arrived he came right out to look at the car; he took out the broken belt and checked all the pulleys, none appeared to be seized. He walked away saying he was going to see if he had a replacement belt in stock. He came back a few minutes later with a new belt in hand and some tools and proceeded to install it. A short time later he was done! It was the first time I had had my car repaired while I waited.
