I booked a reservation in the igloos on the rooftop of the Bobby, scheduled a night out with girlfriends, and that was the last positive experience we had dealing with the teams at the Bobby. We were all excited for the atmosphere and what we deemed our holiday party. The reservation was for 8 pm, and we knew there was a required minimum with the tables. When we arrived to check-in, the whole evening started to change...
1) They were 15 minutes late seating us,and the bar tenders "did not know" how to seat us.
2) Once seated, we waited for more than 10 minutes before one in our group asked the bartender if someone could take our drink order. The snarky response from the bartender was, "you can wait a few more minutes, we just seated you."
3) At the 8:45 mark we had ordered our first drinks and food, which wouldn't usually be a big deal but when required to spend 100s of dollars in a finite time was unreasonable.
4) The servers were nice but clearly overwhelmed which made getting drinks and food another 20-30 minute process.
5) we ordered the first four apps on the menus, and when they came, the quality of food was below bar food. I've had way better from food trucks. The fries in the poutine were clumped together, we had trouble finding short ribs in the short rib nachos and the cheese to chip distribution was sloppy with only about 5% of the chips being covered with cheese. We also ordered a burger and chicken sandwich and both were decent/at least met the expectation of bar food.
6) After the poor service and less than appetizing food, the check came and only the food had been comp'ed.
All 8 of us were servers at one time or another in life, meaning that we are willing to cut people slack if they are slammed or slow, but with a terrible experience all around, we were 100% disappointed with the rooftop at the Bobby (service, timeliness of drinks, food quality).
I would not recommend wasting time going to the Bobby to eat or chill in the Igloos. Instead, take the elevator up, see the view, immediately leave the building and go somewhere else with better quality and WAAAAYY better cost.
On top of not having a great night at the Bobby, the following day, I called to speak with Management and left a voice message requesting a callback. It has been about a week, and I have yet to hear from them. Due to the lack of responsiveness, and my groups overall experience, I am making this post to let others know how poorly this is operated and how poorly the guests were treated.
