We had our daughter's wedding here at the hotel earlier this month and it was absolutely amazing. There were about 100 guests and it is a perfect venue for that size group. We had a bunch of meals in the hotel restaurant, Drusie & Darr, and the hotel kitchen catered the wedding. We were thrilled with the great food and the warm hospitality provided by their amazing staff and particularly the executive chef, Richard Hutton. We stayed at The Hermitage Hotel a few nights while visiting friends in Nashville. On the positive side, they did a lovely job restoring the hotel. It is beautiful on the surface. But the skin is much healthier than the bones. For example, some of the plumbing fixtures in room 318 were not working properly. Further, the food at their fine dining restaurant, Drusie & Darr, was excellent, but their servers had more of a "check-the-box" attitude than a well-trained wait staff. But the main reason for this one-star review is the lack of responsiveness from management. We checked out early on a Friday morning, around 7:00am. Just thirty minutes into our drive home I realized that I had left a small prosthetic denture in a glass on the counter in our room. I called the hotel and spoke with the young woman who checked us out. She assured me that she would notify housekeeping and have it sent to my home. I asked her if she was sure because the denture was expensive and I could come back to the hotel to retrieve it. She again assured me with confidence that it would be fine. The day after returning home, I called the hotel to ensure my tooth was on its way to me. The person I spoke with could not help me, so I asked to speak with the general manager and was told he was not on the property. The person I spoke with promised to look into the situation and return my call. To make a long story short, I have called the hotel six more times and left a message for the general manager to call me to no avail. Today I was told that a Mr. Tolliver was in a meeting and not available, but that he would definitely call me back today. Nothing. Tomorrow, I visit my dentist to have a new prosthetic denture made. The hotel is beautiful, the service is awful, the staff is poorly trained, and clearly the management of the hotel is negligent. We had a much more enjoyable stay at The Harpeth Hotel in Franklin. read more

A decent downtown Nashville option, conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from Broadway. The staff was friendly and the service was genuinely good, but the property itself shows its age. The room felt dated, the room phone had a dead battery, and the toilet leaked for two days before it was finally fixed. On the hospitality side, when I ran late for checkout, the team took the initiative to pack my belongings and place them in secure storage, which caught me off guard at first, but the bell staff had everything ready and accounted for when I returned. Not a bad stay, but given the maintenance headaches, I'll likely explore other options on my next trip to town. read more

Reservations need to improve greatly. We called numerous times trying to get through to make a reservation. Extremely Over priced for no conveniences you may need or want and can receive from a newer facility accommodation and for a much better value. Has fee after fee stacked on top of the already high cost of a room. If you want to pay for the historical experience it is pretty inside, but no one seemed to really care that you're there! (This was highly recommended to me by Michael Johnston, Director of Operations at "AJL International") Upon arrival, you're greeted, elegantly and old-fashionably by Valet or Doorman, as you enter large beautiful historic doors. You're instantly transformed into early 1900's as you walk inside. You're greeted by the large, open-spaced lobby and your eyes immediately gravitate up at the carefully crafted ceiling and Stained Glass Arboretum. That's only the beginning into your transformation. As you look around, the elegant design of walls, furnishings and paintings take your breath away how majestic the lobby is. The Check-In counter is crafted out of beautiful large marble stone designs. All around you is marble carefully crafted. You begin to appreciate your surroundings on entirely different level. Each seating arrangement offers crystal-like table lamp, with tables, creating warm ambiance for casual or business conversations. In the lobby they offer specialty alcoholic beverages during certain times so be sure to inquire within, when you're enjoying your stay in the lobby. If you're someone that prefers to sit in the lobby and enjoy the simpler things life offers, perhaps, allow me to recommend you "The Pink Hermit." It's part of the hotel near the entrance, offering indoor and outdoor seating. "The Pink Hermit" offers great selection of hot teas, coffees, fresh baked goods and pastries. I didn't get a chance this time, to stay in their elegant rooms, but because it was raining outside in mid-afternoon, I came inside for few hours to admire their lobby and basement. (Keep reading to find out why I admired their basement). While waiting out the rain, I spent an hour, sitting in the lobby, drinking hot tea with my two delicious pastries from "The Pink Hermit." At one point I stepped away from my sitting area to go admire more of the lobby history and when I returned, one of my untouched pastry and half drunken, pink cup, hot tea was gone. When guests services came back and asked, "Would you like anything else we can assist with?" I replied politely, "Yes please. I had hot tea and unfinished pastry that I stepped away from to admire your lobby history." He apologized, "I'm so sorry, I cleared that because I thought you were done." "It's alright, it's no big deal," I replied. "What was it that you ordered, let me get that for you?" I was reluctant but he politely insisted. I replied with a smile, "If you want to you can bring me my order, but I promise I'm not needing it." Few minutes later, he brings me a tray with freshly steeped hot tea, and not one, but two fresh pastries, "Please enjoy on the house." Later, we continued our conversation for about ten minutes. This type of old-fashioned, customer service I crave in bigger chain, modern hotels. For this reason I highly recommend, "The Hermitage Hotel," located in downtown Nashville. The basement of this elegant building has impressive design of its own. Something I highly recommend to see in person that words can't describe. Unlike anything you'd expect. Basement offers several great, elegantly designed, fine dining options. Most hotel lobby restrooms are generally same, boring and with no class. Men's restroom, I personally have never seen anywhere in all the world of traveling I've done, thus far. You step into a past where you can imagine having a butler holding a towel for you as you finish washing your hands. You could make a personal phone call as well, if you need to, with their old-fashioned phone. Need to get your shoes shined? They offer several chairs to get that done, before you go back to your evening events. Went to High Tea at the Hermitage Hotel after many years of wanting to attend! They only host it on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. It is a bit pricey given what you get from the tea. I paid more here than I did at very well known high-tea spots in London! For $165 a person, we each got a pot of tea, and a tower of small sandwiches, scones and desserts. The scones were delicious but I was disappointed at how few sandwiches there were to eat! We all left still hungry afterwards. In August they dedicated tea to the Women's Suffrage movement and had a women dressed in historic garments and storytelling throughout the tea, which was a nice touch. The room were tea was in was very bare. I was expecting more out of this historic hotel! The entry way was beautiful and the staff was very nice. Valet is free if you are doing the tea! read more

Gorgeous hotel with luxurious amenities and incredible service. Every staff member I encountered was extremely attentive, personable, and knowledgeable on the history of the hotel. It was fascinating to learn more about the hermitage's background and the role that it played in the women's suffrage movement. The lobby is grand and elegant, and the veranda is absolutely stunning. For dining, the Pink Hermit is perfect for a coffee or homemade pastry, or a sit down lunch in the afternoon. Don't forget to make a dinner reservation at Drusie & Darr, created by the famous Jean-Georges. The tasting menu is incredible and the bar area is perfectly intimate, transporting you back in time. The egg toast with caviar and the chocolate molten lava cake are a must-order. I enjoyed my room along with the plush robe and pillow menu. Lovely hotel. The staff is so friendly and kind. I was visiting from Boston for a conference and the hotel was a bit more formal than what I'm used to back home. They still made me feel perfectly at ease. The guest rooms are quiet, spacious and luxurious, with high quality linens and toiletries. The gym was nicer than most hotel gyms. In a sunroom off the foyer which looks out to the street and surrounding buildings, they host afternoon tea from 2-4pm on Sundays. The atmosphere is elegant and elevated with a beautiful selection of scones, pastries, and small finger sandwiches. I attended with two female friends and we had a delightful time. We spent two hours sitting, chatting, and munching on the delicious spread. The total cost is 75/person and they add an 18% gratuity. I recommend this if you are local and looking for something fun to do with your friends, or if you are visiting and want a unique afternoon away from the loudness of Broadway. My only call-out is the room is large and open, which can create lots of background noise. Timeless beauty and charm. From the moment they opened the door for me, I felt I was swept back to the glamour years where white glove service was expected. Old time elegance with new charm. The room was so spacious. When I walked in my room they had already done the turn down service with chocolate meringue cookies by the bed. A welcome letter was waiting on the table with a chilled bottle of water and a box of chocolates. That's how hotels used to welcome you. They still do here. The blackout curtains and ability to turn the temperature down to 66, made for a perfect nights sleep. The one downside is no coffee in the room but they offer you a free coffee from the cafe downstairs and it was very good. The service there was also exemplary. The furniture in the room was divine and if you didn't like the pillows on your bed...no worries there were three more options (buckwheat, memory foam or latex) in the closet. Snuggle up in the robes after your shower and relax on the chaise lounge in your room. They have thought of all of the details to make your stay fantastic. read more

*Sunday Afternoon Tea* The experience overall was pretty good, but there were a few hiccups. To start, we were seated outside the actual tea room initially in an area that was in the lobby basically, with a couch and two chairs to take our tea. While this is fine for some people, preference should be asked. The actual tea room is much more bright, inviting and aesthetically pleasing. The main issue with this seating area is that it's not accessible. We requested to move to the actual tea room with actual table & chairs and were accommodated. Next, we attended the tea with dietary restrictions we were advised the hotel could handle; gluten-free and vegan. One of the best parts of any tea experience is the towers. Apparently, if you have dietary restrictions they just bring your items out on a regular plate. We weren't pleased. We let the staff know and I will say they rectified issue immediately. They brought out two actual towers with the correct options. The bottom line is that if I'm attending tea (this isn't my first tea rodeo) I want the full experience. They did take 20% off the bill for the delay in service etc., and that was appreciated and management was accommodating & apologetic. Definitely handled the way a business should. From the moment I stepped out of my Uber, and James greeted us I knew we had chosen the right place. First impressions are everything... and set the tone for the whole visit! James genuine smile and greeting was the perfect example of a Southern gentleman welcoming guests into his home. He immediately offered "ice cold water, it's hot out there and you need to stay hydrated". The lobby was brilliantly remastered in the last renovation. The ceiling is something to behold. Check-in was seamless and our bags were stored until our room was inspected. We were provided a corner King room on the eighth floor. It overlooked the state capitol. The room was done in elegant Italian marble, and beautiful floor to ceiling draperies. Turn down service was provided each night, and a beautiful meringue was left at our bedside. There are two restaurants. Although we did not take advantage of either of them, the menus looked very enticing. We did have cocktails one afternoon in the lobby. You need to take advantage of the 1910 hour. Otherwise, drinks are quite pricey. All of the employees were very attentive and kind. The entire property was very well maintained. I highly recommend the Hermitage for your next visit to Nashville. read more

We went to the Thanksgiving buffet here. The hotel is beautiful and feels extremely fancy. We went in pretty casual clothes and were maybe a bit underdressed. Lots of suits and dresses..but hey, I'm paying quite a lot of money for this, let a girl dress to be comfy! The staff were very attentive and helpful, very professional. This review is about the Nutcracker Tea, which I was sorely disappointed in. First of all, there are hardly any Nutcrackers to be found. There are a few large ones scattered throughout the dining area, but that is it. Any tea that I have ever been around the country (RI, CA, MA, OH, etc) and in London, they keep bringing the sandwiches and desserts, but not this one. You got small servings of each sandwich and pastry and no chance of seconds. The service was so-so. If you wanted a drink refill-good luck. The price was astronomical. Ridiculous for what it was. Almost twice the price of any other tea I have ever been to. Overall, I would not recommend this experience. Find another one. read more

Hermitage Hotel is a terrific hotel with a lot of history and architecture. The staff was attentive and very helpful when there was a slight billing error. It was handled and really a none issue. Great location, and like the lobby bar and the main one downstairs. We were in for my birthday and a show at Ryland and perfect location to walk downhill to concert and then to the strip. I like being close enough to get to all the entertainment but removed enough you can get peace and quiet. Room was great and entire staff did a great job from time we checked in and valet took my car until they helped with bags and delivered my car to the front door. We will be back. Was hoping our family could be accommodated for the nutcracker tea. Understandably everything was full - HOWEVER - the hostess was really rude barely looked at me and said we're full then turned away. My 7yr old daughter even noticed and was embarrassed. We tried to save the day by going to their smaller desert restaurant- Pink Hermit in the hotel. There were about 4 bar stools at the counter, 3 empty tables and after buying cold, hard deserts they said we couldn't sit there because they have reservations. Let me just say no one was around and we ate in 15min! They also said they ran out of silverware so we have to eat with our hands. Are we savages??? We've never had an experience like this at any high-end hotel we've been to. The Conrad was much better, friendly and worth every penny. if you're making a decision - go to The Conrad! The Hermitage Hotel Lost our reservations. It was our anniversary. Ended up in a small room with dirty carpet. Room service was a joke. No one spoke any English. Room service would bring us the wrong items and we couldn't tell them because they didn't speak a word of English. Same with the maids. They showed items in pictures of the hotel rooms that were not in the room. I called room service and asked for some of the items and the didn't have any of them. The lobby was beautiful but it didn't carry over to the rooms. I saw a list of mangers of the hotel and most of them stayed for only one or two years. This is probably why the hotel is run so poorly. read more

Just to give you some background. I have been coming to this hotel for many years and even had my honeymoon here in 2004. Until now it had the highest standards. NOT ANYMORE. I was very disappointed. Even being upgraded to the Grand King and being an I Prefer member I was very much disappointed in my experience. They even said they would follow up with me on my food service and made one attempt to email and when I sent multiple emails back with my availability to talk, I received no response. I did receive early check in, which was nice. The Bell men and Valet were exceptional, but that is about it. Once I got into my room it went downhill from there. First off, the sink faucet was broke, the tub was dirty and I found hairs in the washcloths. It was not what a $800 room should have been like. They did get the mechanic up to my room to fix the issue with the faucet and the cleaners to clean the tub, but they should have been inspecting these rooms daily to make sure they were top notch. Especially on the top floor. When I arrived back from my meeting, I decided to order room service. Well, unfortunately, the menu in the room was old and the items I really wanted to try were not available. I had to get the chicken, salad and some green that obviously was broccolini but looks like a pile of rubber. The meal was not even edible. The chicken was over salted rubbery skin thighs, the broccolini was over cooked and the salad was literally some greens tossed in olive oil and pepper with no accoutrements. For the price of this meal I was flabbergasted at what I was presented with! On top of that, I had ordered the 2 for breakfast option for reservation and they still charged me for breakfast! I cannot believe after all this I look at my cc charges and I didn't even get the deal I reserved and even on top of paying for the upgrade. They wouldn't even honor the 25% off discount I received via email. So, for breakfast, since I thought it was included I decided to order and see if it was any better from the night before. I didn't receive pepper and the server would not even move the plates to the table for me. I called down to get pepper, which took a while, so I requested an additional 30 minutes for late checkout. Well they refused and were very rude to me on the phone. I scrambled to eat with my client, which I was so dismayed by the way I was treated even my client stated they would never stay here after that. Lastly, when I had them hold my luggage downstairs they had it out in the open where anyone could walk up and just take whatever they wanted. No one was watching it nor was it near the guest services or concierge. DO NOT have them keep your luggage if you decide to go somewhere for a bit before you leave for that day. It will not be maintained nor looked after. photos attached - it is right in the hallway where the bathrooms and dining room are located. My fur and Floyd luggage was just sitting there. I could not believe it! I have been in the service industry a long time and this is completely unacceptable. After all I went through, I don't even care for any refunded money, because EVERYONE here should know what a disappointment this was. NEVER will I go back to this establishment as there are plenty of options for less that are exceptional compared to what I experienced here. It is unfortunate that this historic beautiful place has gone downhill so far. It saddens me to write this because it was such a huge part of my life going here for my anniversary each year. read more

Five stars for the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. The price was really not bad at all for the five diamond/five star experience in a historic setting fit for British royalty. I was also very impressed with the staff (we had a mini fridge delivered to our room within five minutes of requesting it). All the staff were masked, which was an anomaly wherever we went in Tennessee. The room was beautiful- the bathroom had the best toiletries and the bed was super comfortable. Even the chairs, which looked uncomfortable were super comfortable despite the elegant style. I would most definitely stay here again and if my husband would have enjoyed it, their tea service looked amazing (might need a girls trip just for that!)... Could not recommend The Hermitage enough- the one downside was parking- $45/night for valet or a non owned self pay lot across the street for $35. Street parking was restricted from 7-9am and 4-6pm. read more
