I've been here several times for high tea and for drinks at Oak Bar downstairs; the space is gorgeous, with mostly attentive staff throughout the premises and a true feeling of history everywhere you look. I have not stayed overnight yet, but it would be a fun staycation!

How beautiful is this?! We were blessed to visit for a wedding and absolutely loved everything about it. The ambiance is incredible and the fact that this is Nashville's only 5 star hotel doesn't surprise, they leave nothing to chance here.

Elegant and Classy Men Restroom

The Hermitage Hotel - Nashville, TN There are few elegant hotels in United States that go far beyond the call of customer service. Opened, 17 September, 1910. (This was highly recommended to me by Michael Johnston, Director of Operations at "AJL International") Upon arrival, you're greeted, elegantly and old-fashionably by Valet or Doorman, as you enter large beautiful historic doors. You're instantly transformed into early 1900's as you walk inside. You're greeted by the large, open-spaced lobby and your eyes immediately gravitate up at the carefully crafted ceiling and Stained Glass Arboretum. That's only the beginning into your transformation. As you look around, the elegant design of walls, furnishings and paintings take your breath away how majestic the lobby is. The Check-In counter is crafted out of beautiful large marble stone designs. All around you is marble carefully crafted. You begin to appreciate your surroundings on entirely different level. Each seating arrangement offers crystal-like table lamp, with tables, creating warm ambiance for casual or business conversations. In the lobby they offer specialty alcoholic beverages during certain times so be sure to inquire within, when you're enjoying your stay in the lobby. If you're someone that prefers to sit in the lobby and enjoy the simpler things life offers, perhaps, allow me to recommend you "The Pink Hermit." It's part of the hotel near the entrance, offering indoor and outdoor seating. "The Pink Hermit" offers great selection of hot teas, coffees, fresh baked goods and pastries. I didn't get a chance this time, to stay in their elegant rooms, but because it was raining outside in mid-afternoon, I came inside for few hours to admire their lobby and basement. (Keep reading to find out why I admired their basement). While waiting out the rain, I spent an hour, sitting in the lobby, drinking hot tea with my two delicious pastries from "The Pink Hermit." At one point I stepped away from my sitting area to go admire more of the lobby history and when I returned, one of my untouched pastry and half drunken, pink cup, hot tea was gone. When guests services came back and asked, "Would you like anything else we can assist with?" I replied politely, "Yes please. I had hot tea and unfinished pastry that I stepped away from to admire your lobby history." He apologized, "I'm so sorry, I cleared that because I thought you were done." "It's alright, it's no big deal," I replied. "What was it that you ordered, let me get that for you?" I was reluctant but he politely insisted. I replied with a smile, "If you want to you can bring me my order, but I promise I'm not needing it." Few minutes later, he brings me a tray with freshly steeped hot tea, and not one, but two fresh pastries, "Please enjoy on the house." Later, we continued our conversation for about ten minutes. This type of old-fashioned, customer service I crave in bigger chain, modern hotels. For this reason I highly recommend, "The Hermitage Hotel," located in downtown Nashville. The basement of this elegant building has impressive design of its own. Something I highly recommend to see in person that words can't describe. Unlike anything you'd expect. Basement offers several great, elegantly designed, fine dining options. Most hotel lobby restrooms are generally same, boring and with no class. Men's restroom, I personally have never seen anywhere in all the world of traveling I've done, thus far. You step into a past where you can imagine having a butler holding a towel for you as you finish washing your hands. You could make a personal phone call as well, if you need to, with their old-fashioned phone. Need to get your shoes shined? They offer several chairs to get that done, before you go back to your evening events. Overall, I'm looking forward to returning here and enjoying great comfortable ambience in the lobby but enjoying their comfortable room, as well. Thank you, Michael for great recommendation. Beautiful rooms and great staff members! I would recommend staying here. Great location. Valet or self parking available. Other parking lot closer if needed.

Went to High Tea at the Hermitage Hotel after many years of wanting to attend! They only host it on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. It is a bit pricey given what you get from the tea. I paid more here than I did at very well known high-tea spots in London! For $165 a person, we each got a pot of tea, and a tower of small sandwiches, scones and desserts. The scones were delicious but I was disappointed at how few sandwiches there were to eat! We all left still hungry afterwards. In August they dedicated tea to the Women's Suffrage movement and had a women dressed in historic garments and storytelling throughout the tea, which was a nice touch. The room were tea was in was very bare. I was expecting more out of this historic hotel! The entry way was beautiful and the staff was very nice. Valet is free if you are doing the tea!

Such a gorgeous hotel! Got to come for the high tea experience this afternoon. Such a beautiful space and well decorated. Staff was so friendly and attentive, I loved it. The tea was delicious and the pre selected menu of pastries and dessert items were heaven. I would definitely recommend this as something to do when in Nashville. I would love to stay at this hotel for a staycation sometime.

Gorgeous hotel with luxurious amenities and incredible service. Every staff member I encountered was extremely attentive, personable, and knowledgeable on the history of the hotel. It was fascinating to learn more about the hermitage's background and the role that it played in the women's suffrage movement. The lobby is grand and elegant, and the veranda is absolutely stunning. For dining, the Pink Hermit is perfect for a coffee or homemade pastry, or a sit down lunch in the afternoon. Don't forget to make a dinner reservation at Drusie & Darr, created by the famous Jean-Georges. The tasting menu is incredible and the bar area is perfectly intimate, transporting you back in time. The egg toast with caviar and the chocolate molten lava cake are a must-order. I enjoyed my room along with the plush robe and pillow menu. The bathrooms come with a double vanity and a large soaking tub. The turndown service was also a pleasant surprise.

Gorgeous hotel. They have done a fabulous job staying true to the original design and decorating. Don't forget to check out the men's bathroom directly below the front desk.

Lovely hotel. The staff is so friendly and kind. I was visiting from Boston for a conference and the hotel was a bit more formal than what I'm used to back home. They still made me feel perfectly at ease. The guest rooms are quiet, spacious and luxurious, with high quality linens and toiletries. The gym was nicer than most hotel gyms. It even had cool towels and ice water. They handled the conference itself very well, too - with a great welcome cocktail hour in the beautiful lobby, comfortable meeting space, delicious meals and refreshments during our breaks.

Afternoon Tea at the Hermitage
Teri T.

*This review focuses on the afternoon tea held at the Hermitage Hotel* The Hermitage is a beautiful historic hotel in downtown Nashville. The lobby is worth visiting to view, sit, relax, and drink. In a sunroom off the foyer which looks out to the street and surrounding buildings, they host afternoon tea from 2-4pm on Sundays. The atmosphere is elegant and elevated with a beautiful selection of scones, pastries, and small finger sandwiches. I attended with two female friends and we had a delightful time. We spent two hours sitting, chatting, and munching on the delicious spread. The total cost is 75/person and they add an 18% gratuity. I recommend this if you are local and looking for something fun to do with your friends, or if you are visiting and want a unique afternoon away from the loudness of Broadway. My only call-out is the room is large and open, which can create lots of background noise. If you are hard of hearing or don't do well in situations with excess noise in the background be specific on where you are seated to minimize this.

Timeless beauty and charm. From the moment they opened the door for me, I felt I was swept back to the glamour years where white glove service was expected. Old time elegance with new charm. The room was so spacious. When I walked in my room they had already done the turn down service with chocolate meringue cookies by the bed. A welcome letter was waiting on the table with a chilled bottle of water and a box of chocolates. That's how hotels used to welcome you. They still do here. The blackout curtains and ability to turn the temperature down to 66, made for a perfect nights sleep. The one downside is no coffee in the room but they offer you a free coffee from the cafe downstairs and it was very good. The service there was also exemplary. The furniture in the room was divine and if you didn't like the pillows on your bed...no worries there were three more options (buckwheat, memory foam or latex) in the closet. Snuggle up in the robes after your shower and relax on the chaise lounge in your room. They have thought of all of the details to make your stay fantastic.

James. Mr Hermitage (in my opinion)
John V.

From the moment I stepped out of my Uber, and James greeted us I knew we had chosen the right place. First impressions are everything... and set the tone for the whole visit! James genuine smile and greeting was the perfect example of a Southern gentleman welcoming guests into his home. He immediately offered "ice cold water, it's hot out there and you need to stay hydrated". The lobby was brilliantly remastered in the last renovation. The ceiling is something to behold. Check-in was seamless and our bags were stored until our room was inspected. We were provided a corner King room on the eighth floor. It overlooked the state capitol. The room was done in elegant Italian marble, and beautiful floor to ceiling draperies. Turn down service was provided each night, and a beautiful meringue was left at our bedside. There are two restaurants. Although we did not take advantage of either of them, the menus looked very enticing. We did have cocktails one afternoon in the lobby. You need to take advantage of the 1910 hour. Otherwise, drinks are quite pricey. All of the employees were very attentive and kind. The entire property was very well maintained. I highly recommend the Hermitage for your next visit to Nashville.

Iconic men's room
Andrea O.

To be fully honest I visited The Hermitage Hotel to see the iconic men's room downstairs next to the Capital Grill. It was obvious we were just exploring. Employees still treated us with respect! They are very professional, well trained! I explored the lobby, sunroom, the Capital Grill, and took a quick peek inside the men's room. Exquisite and impeccable are the only way to describe this beautifully appointed hotel!

I've never been interested in Country music, I came for family. I am leaving with a whole new appreciation for live music, in part because of my stay here. Both performances were great, I felt like I was on MTV unplugged in an intimate setting (aging myself). After a long, hot day of sightseeing, I got to end the day with a free concert. Hotel happy hour and breakfast were enough to cover actual meals which is great when you are trying to budget so you can spend your money in the community. Three cocktails and full meals! We stayed 3 nights and given the cost was 293+ tax the first night 393+ tax and 493+ tax for the Friday night, they are really taken advantage of people coming to Nashville. I am a Platinum Marriott Member and Gold Hilton Member and usually stay there. The first room we were given was on the lowest floor overlooking their rooftop with air conditioners. I was able to change it for a 19th floor room with a city view. Back to breakfast....All 3 days was scrambled eggs, sausage patties, square potatoes, biscuits and gravy. They had a large grill but were not doing omelets. They did them in the past. You could make a waffle using the same units at all hotels like Hampton and Holiday Inn Express. Higher end hotels will make them for you. They had apples, bananas and oranges. The bowl of fruit (matched the hampton's) but there's was wilted and soggy (cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple and grapes). Last day they had non. Milk was out of a machine and yogurt was 1 flavor along with hardboiled eggs. They did have pancakes off to the side by the grill and cheese you could add to your eggs. The "fantastic" sitback and enjoy spread was a joke. 1 night pseudo chicken alfredo. Another night horrible pork bbq and tacos the last. All nights had baked potatoes and chips with salsa. My wife was shocked at how downhill it went. You were given 3 bar tickets per person. They now limited you to 5 specialty drinks (1 being Margarita, 1 cherry flavoring with vodka and sprite with sour mix ) or regular water downed drinks The only positive was you could get fountain pop all day. From 4 to 8pm they popped popcorn in the lobby. I had to remind them 1 day. The fitness center was nice but the pool didn't open until 9AM. I wanted to do at 830 before heading out. I am on eastern time while they are on central time. There is no restaurants in the hotel. I don't count the bar with limited options for food. See my pictures for the menu. The rooms are very basic. They were clean. I had to chase the cleaning staff each day for more towels and even toilet paper! The hotel has no concierge. Parking is $42 a night for self-park. The location is very convenient but so are several other hotels.

Of course, Downtown…read moreNashville has grown and with the Hockey Area and Country Music Hall of Fame right across the street and Broadway a block away, this is one convenient and large location. I was able to book our 4 nights through a combination of Hilton Points and my annual free night off my Amex credit card. Such a deal! And as a Diamond member, I had use of the Executive Lounge and a $30 food and beverage credit. We all had a very pleasant stay. The room was roomy and comfortable, the shower water was hot and strong, and we slept well. Our window faced towards the Hockey Arena, and there was selective Broadway-related noise in the evening. That became background noise soon enough that really didn't affect sleep. However, I suspect that this Hotel is due for some refurbishment as the armrests on the couch were worn and at least one cabinet molding came off. Housekeeping sometimes came late in the day, and after they skipped us after the first night, we made it a point to remind them. As for the $30 food credit, we used the convenient coffee kiosk by the elevators often. Fruit, cookie bars, coffee, and other snacks were often available at the Executive Lounge, although I found this to be one more basic offerings that I'd experienced with Hilton. We didn't really figure out how to have a proper breakfast here, but there were plenty of excellent choices within a short walking distance. The Italian restaurant (separate review) was a pleasant surprise one night for dinner, in terms of value, good food, and excellent service. Then there were the 3 elevator banks, one of which was out-of-service, and required knowing that there were 2 call buttons to keep track of. Parts of the day did require some waiting as every floor (of 10) was often in play. As we headed back to the airport yesterday, I agree with my brother-in-laws comment that with all the location and room positives, this hotel lacked a certain character. Maybe it was size, maybe it was good service without a lot of personality, or maybe because of where they are, they can mail it in occasionally. Or maybe the little things we noticed started to add up. I'm a loyal Hilton Honors member, but if there's a next time for Nashville, I might look at some of their other nearby options.

To be honest, this hotel is on a whole another level than what I normally do. Since the conference is here, and we have a booth, I drove up from the Atlanta suburbs. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Jon, who was the first valet that got to me. Super friendly, and helpful. I owe him an apology, I thought I gave him the keys but since it wasn't my normal vehicle I apparently kept them in my pocket. He had every right to call me an idiot but he was laughing with me as I sheepishly handed them over. Josh helped me unload my car, with my suitcase, and boxes full of stuff for our booth exhibit that will be set up on Tuesday afternoon. Friendly guy, helped me get a luggage cart and get to the front desk. From there, Jon was the person tasked with helping me get my bags upstairs to my room. Jon was awesome, talked about places to go, what's around, and if I needed any advice he could help. I grabbed a map and he took a pen and marked where the hotel was so I could get my bearings easily. Raj was manning the desk where I was waiting, and he was also really professional and courteous. This place loses a star for parking. $50.00 a night to park on the property?? That is a hard nope, and I am glad we took an Uber when we needed transportation. There are cheaper accommodations, but I will pay more for the location.
