Yesterday I broke down and finally went to get my haircut during all of this craziness. I wore my mask and they took my temperature when I walked in. They also had hand sanitizer and masks for anyone who didn't have it. They're truly doing everything we all should be right now and it was such a delight. I have gone to this salon twice before and loved it both times. My original stylist was not available and I hate cheating but I was so lucky as to be able to see Risha this time. She was. AMAZING!!!! It's been years since I've let anyone actually cut my hair and put layers in it. I was spoiled and ran a Salon for 7 years so trying somewhere new was scary for me. But Risha was awesome. I took a leap of faith and I will never go back! My hair is stunning! If I had been able to I would've hugged her! It's been almost 6 years since I've been with my husband and I've never had layers in that time. He told me how wonderful it looked as soon as I walked into it home! I can not recommend Risha enough! For almost three weeks I researched for a salon with excellent reviews. I was in desperate need for color and cut. Thanks to my fellow yelpers and "stalkerish like" skills I found The Verge and more importantly Alex!!! She had good reviews. She was also available and affordable!! The Verge (Smyrna) was an eight-minute drive, and I found parking right out front (two affirmations). While parking I notice a woman crossing the street with a really lovely hair style, similar to what I had in mind (affirmation). When I walked in, the salon was clean and had minimal decor. Not warm and fuzzy more European and sleek. I received a lukewarm greeting maybe because my hair was a hot mess. I checked in and waited for Alex. Well, she comes out, and it was the lady crossing the street (fist pump affirmation) with my new "do"! She was the sweetest, most patient and did not flinch when I said I wanted a radical change. She spent time getting to know me and gently guiding me to what in the end was fabulous!! I rarely leave a salon and not have to do some tweaking to do. The Verge Salon is a WONDERFUL place to go to get a little special treatment and beauty TLC at a reasonable price. It's very difficult to justify spending a lot of money on a high-end salon. Enter The Verge. This training salon is THE BEST. The prices are so reasonable- new stylists start at the high twenties and increase in price as they gain experience. The site itself is conveniently located in Smyrna Market Village. The salon is decorated in white, black, and gold, giving it a fresh and attractive appearance. The stylists themselves are young and enthusiastic. I've always had great care and attention from everyone I've made appointments with. It took me a few different tries before I found my stylist. I've only had one negative experience in my quest for the perfect stylist, and that had more to do with personality than the cut (which was super cute!). But all of that was before Kelsey. Kelsey is an amazing stylist; she always listens carefully to my needs and provides a super low-maintenance cut that looks fantastic. She tells me about the products she uses, but I never feel pressured to buy anything. Final note: On top of the already lower training prices, The Verge will give you a discount if you book your next appointment before you leave. They will also give you a discount if you are a spontaneous booker (like me) and make your appoint 24 hours or less in advance! read more

I am new to the community and have been researching for a salon to get my highlights done. I made an appointment at this salon due to the great reviews. The moment I sat in my chair and the stylist had me sign a waiver they weren't responsible for how my hair turned out should of been a sign. Not only did I show the stylist pictures of the color I wanted, I showed her pictures of how I wear it and how it has been in past. I basically left with my hair dark brown, and my roots weren't even touched. When you are a good stylist you give what the customer requests and that was not the case. I just wanted to get out of the salon and never go back. Granted some of the other stylists were doing great hair, I guess I didn't get lucky with who I had. Very disappointed. read more

I can't say enough good things about Adriana at the Verge salon! From balayage to even just getting a quick trim she is so talented. I have SO much hair, and it always takes forever to do anything to it. Other stylists in different places have made me feel like I'm an inconvenience with having so much hair, but she never complains or makes me feel bad about it. Today she gave me the BEST balayage color I've ever had and I love getting my hair done with her! She is super patient and has great suggestions too as to color and style. read more

I hate to write this review as my only reason for going to this location was as part of my research of Bob Steele Salon. They were hiring and I wanted to experience the company from an outside perspective. Because I am in transition money is tight hence the choice of the Verge verses one of the higher end locations. Also I am closer to Smyrna. I looked online and inquired about an appointment. I was told I could not book online for my first visit. I would have to call in. I was given a choice of a few ladies and their availability. I picked Dakota for a Saturday 12:30 appt. Parking is tricky as multiple businesses outweigh the parking spaces but I found it well enough. I checked in and Dakota came fairly quickly. After a few pleasantries and showing a pic or two of what I wanted she advised a razor cut. She cut it dry, no wash, just a quick dry and style. I paid(1st timers get 20%off). $23 for a haircut. Very nice. But you get what you pay for. Not a bad experience at all... Until I drive home and discover she has razor cut 3-4 pieces of my hair at the left part of my crown 2-3inches shorter than the rest of my hair. Omg. By Monday I snapped a pic of it and sent it to mgnt. I received an email from customer relations that they would like to rectify the situation. I agreed to come in the next day to let the Educator look at it. He did so through a very odd experience, which perplexed me even after I left. I walked right past Dakota but never once was she brought over to look at her mistake. A mistake I am going to have to deal with for some time now. Even a refund will not fix it. I cover it as best I can and I am in awe that she did not notice her mistake then. Or if she did, she did not acknowledge it. I cannot imagine she saw it and ignored it. I appreciate the refund minus my $6 tip but it does not grow my hair back any faster. An apology from Dakota would have been nice and her being brought over to see her error should have happened. read more

I've been getting cuts and color from Tye for months now. I don't know why it's taken me so long to leave a review, but probably because she feels more like my friend than my hair stylist :) I'm Asian and have super short pixie hair, and Tye always gives me a fun cut that's got a little something different. We've tried undercuts, and V-shapes in the back, and now... SILVER COLOR! I went from all natural black hair to silver / platinum blonde and she did an AMAZING JOB. She talks through every step of the coloring process and is extra careful that the lightener doesn't burn off my scalp. (Small sacrifices for killer color, right?) I love getting my hair done with Tye. She's SUPER talented, easy to talk to, and reasonably priced. She's the best... arooooound! read more

The rates are reasonably priced. The cut I received was very nice but at the time I wasn't aware that they don't use curling irons and don't curl your hair. My hair texture needs to have some sort of bump to it. With my really short cut I needed a very small curling iron to curl the back. They found another hairdresser that had a small flatiron to curl my hair. So I left a little frustrated that they were going to let me leave with no curl to my cut. In the end, the cut actually came out really nice when I curl it myself. read more

I came with a group of friends recently for a blowout, and we had a great time! My stylist was super friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted: curls! My hair is naturally wavy, and I either leave it that way or blow it straight. I haven't mastered the art of curling it myself yet! When it was all said and done, the curls looked great! She used a flat iron instead of a curling iron to do it from my recommendation. My hair holds a curl, but holds flat iron curls better for some reason. So, she did that, but had a different technique than what I've seen at my usual salon. She started on the right side, where I part my hair, and went around to the left side. My usual hair person starts at the back, where my hair is thickest, and moves to the font. Again, it looked great when she was finished, but the technique was unusual. Overall, I'd come back for a blowout if I couldn't get into my usual salon. It's a great place, and would come back for often if I didn't already have a preferred stylist. Side note: they offer wedding services for the bride and bridal party for a reasonable price! read more

I have been here twice, would definitely recommend, and will be back, at least for my cuts. My first experience was great. Courtney cut my hair exactly the way I asked her to. She took the time to find out what I wanted, etc., and is very meticulous in what she does. The shampooing was AMAZING. She massages your whole head while she's washing your hair and for someone with chronic headaches, that is a HUGE plus! She is on the lower level tier for pricing so no complaints there. I went back yesterday (after 2 weeks) for my color, which IMO is a little steep but I wanted it done right. Here is where I would give 4.5 stars if I could, in general, not for Courtney; she did a great job again. 2 weeks ago when I got my cut, I was told the price for the color and that there might be an additional fee if the color is wonky (my word) and they have to add a "rinse" or something to even out the color. I thought I would be warned in advance that that would happen, so maybe I could decide if I wanted it but I wasn't until the end when I had to pay. Not a huge deal, just didn't like the surprise. My color is a little more golden than I wanted, but it's acceptable. As far as the employees, Courtney and the guy who checks you out are very friendly, but no one else goes out of their way to acknowledge you while you are there. I came here after my regular stylist left my old salon. Summer cut my hair, and it looks better than it has in well over a year. She was very meticulous and thorough. The next day, I was able to wake up and go without washing my hair. That night at a coffee shop, a guy stopped me and said, "Excuse me... Where did you get your hair cut? Are you a stylist? It looks amazing!" If that's not a good hair cut, I don't know what is. read more

My stylist didn't listen to what I wanted and when I asked her to highlight my roots, which is why I booked the appointment to begin with, she ignored me and said her way is better. These new Level 1 - 3 stylists are all top notch, and you can't beat the quality for the price. I just got a cut, glaze, and bought products for only ~$60. Recently moved to the area and was in need of a cut and bayalage. As someone who has dealt with brassiness, I always get nervous going to someone new. This salon is just AMAZING. I came here once before, and they did great. This time I was a little worried that I just got lucky the first time around, but boy, was I wrong. So much talent here! Everything I wrote in my previous review still holds true. Plus, I got to experience a new stylist who gave me such great hair!! Brigid listened to everything I wanted and more! However, I would recommend to anyone who has a lot of hair (mine comes down passed my mid back) to make sure the salon knows. I had booked a cut and color, but I just have sooo much hair that it took longer than they expected. (Realistically, I couldn't expect them to anticipate that since they didn't know what style ahead of time and coloring short hair vs long hair is obviously going to take much longer. Not to mention like I said before: sooooo much hair. Plus, no one wants a hair cut that's been rushed through especially since hair does not grow back over night.) Unfortunately, I had to reschedule the cut for another time. But I definitely appreciate Brigid for letting me know so that we could work something out where she wouldn't have to rush through my hair cut. I also want to make sure everyone knows that they offered to have another stylist cut my hair; however, I just liked Brigid so much that I preferred to have her cut my hair as well. read more

Went there for the first time this weekend and LOVED the stylist who did my color for the first time did a superb job! Tye went to work on my hair and I was so so pleased with the results. She had a client waiting, so she had Row blow dry and style my hair, and Row was so fun and easy to talk to, and did an amazing job on my blow out! This is so much closer to my home than the place I went to for 8 years, it is cute and fun, much more economical, and a great addition to Smyrna! read more

I am very picky when it comes to my hair, I always have an image in my head and very rarely can a stylist replicate exactly what I want. I usually do not write reviews but today's experience has pushed me to create a yelp account just for this review. I have been going to this salon for about 6 or 7 months now and this is the second time I have a bad experience with them. I booked an appointment to get full highlights, as soon as I got there, the first thing my stylist told me was that she would not have time to blow dry/style my hair because of how backed up they are..... ok. So halfway through my color process her next client arrived. A different stylist had to put on the toner as well as shampoo and condition my hair. Once my hair was clean, she sat me next to my stylist who was already working on her next client. I waited around 5-10 minutes. She then proceeds to blow-dry just one strip of hair to show me how my highlights would look on dry hair. Keep in mind I have very curly hair so that strip quickly frizzed because it was not properly blow-dried/straightened. My stylist began to give me my belongings and walk me out; I had to stop her and ask her to at least put a frizz serum on my *SOAKING wet hair with one dry strip* she did very quickly and I went to the front desk. Not only did I look like a clown, but then I was charged more than expected. Turns out, you have to pay extra for the toner after getting your hair dyed.....I was not told this and was very upset. So at the end of the day, I walked out of the salon with wet hair and one strand of puffy, partially dried, hair and got a huge attitude from the front desk staff because I told them that being charged for a toner without warning was ridiculous....safe to say I'll be contacting management and will not be returning to this salon. read more
