Went in with my fiancé to look at a car she wanted and we ended up with the car, but not before dealing with some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. The entire time we were there the manager, Chris, was very condescending and kept saying "we didn't need to take the car" and insinuating we could leave whenever we had a question about the car that required an actual answer. I don't understand how you can be a manager there and treat customers as though their business means nothing to you. The entire time he made us feel like we were somehow lucky to be there and as though we could not even afford the car. Robert was a great salesperson but he was also very slow in making this deal happen. Since we did not even negotiate the price of the car I don't know how it could have possibly taken 5 hours to get us out of there. The only saving grace was our finance person who got us out of there quickly once we sat in his office to sign paperwork. Overall it's probably what you'd expect at most dealerships, but I'm sure there's other ones out there that won't make you wait 5 hours to get out of there when you didn't negotiate the price of the car. We were told she qualified for the loan within the first hour and still waited 5 somehow. If my fiancé did not want the car I honestly would have taken Chris' suggestion and just left after the way they were with us. read more

They lied to me about having a terrible CAT, they even showed me pictures. Keep in mind, I bought my JCW Pro exhaust from them and had them tune my car barely a year ago. They said it needed to be replaced right away and warranty wouldn't cover cost because they said the damage was caused by "outside influence" ...According to them I messed my CAT and O2 sensors up..... Today I take my car to a friends shop, changing my own oil and out of curiosity dropped the exhaust to look at both CATs,...both my primary and secondary CATs,...they are both in MINT condition. They lied to me in order for me to purchase a new CAT and sensors., but not everyone's stupid. NEVER going there again. read more

My car needed a lot of work which was discovered during inspection. Mathew worked very hard to get repairs approved by my extended warranty company. I brought my fiancee's mini in for service a few months back. Now the insurance says they need a copy of the service record, that I don't have. I call 3 times and I am given the run around by the ladies that work there. I'm told that only one person can provide the info I need and they are at lunch. I went it for a new battery for my MINI Cooper and was shown that my front two tires were falling apart. Cool, I'll get them changed and was told by Sal that an alignment would be $50, so I opted for that as well. The bill comes and I'm charged $330 for the alignment. After dealing with Jannie on the phone, I got a $70 discount which means that I'm still paying significantly more than what I was quoted at. Not satisfied at all with pricing and blatantly being lied to regarding it. If possible, avoid the service center. This is highway robbery. Edit: when i went to pick up my car, Jannie wasn't there even though I had told to her expect me. This leads me to believe that she was avoiding me during the last portion of the process, which is both frustrating, disappointing, and unprofessional. Edit 2: Although Bob Smith replying seems helpful and caring, after I sent them an email stating my frustrations and the situation as a whole, I received no response. I'm so annoyed at Bob Smith they are dishonest and liars!!! I bought my car there in 2015. Every time I brought it in for service, I would ask about my trim being stained and My windshield being stained. Even though I was under warranty when I brought this up they never offered to change it out. I bet you won't even find it in their records. I pointed it out to the service center every time I went in when picking up my car about the trim stains and the stain you left on my windshield. I am beyond furious because I have now moved to another state and am now finding out that when I had my check engine light serviced here, they quoted me 6k for an emissions error code fixes. NEVER MENTIONING THAT IT WAS COVERED BY THE CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS COVERAGE AND THE FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY. They never even mentioned it to me. You are a certified mini tech. You should be ashamed!!! You didn't want to spend any money on my car even when it was under warranty. Honestly so annoyed. I can't believe I waited this long to leave a review. And the fact I needed to MOVE STATES to get that information from a local mechanic is DISGUSTING. I SHOULD HAVE DONE MY OWN RESEARCH BUT I TRUSTED YOU GUYS TO GIVE ME THE BEST ACCURATE INFO. NEVER AGAIN. The trim stains is a common issue and you said there was nothing you could do and it's wasn't covered by my warranty WHICH WAS A LIE!!! Recently, with 20 minutes to spend, we stopped in to Bob Smith MINI to check out the models and options. The young salesman who was "up" had great enthusiasm for his products, and graciously answered our questions / showed us around the various models. I didn't think Bob Smith Mini could top my last excellent experience of buying a car, but thanks To Miki Forgo, it was even better than the first!! Since the pandemic began, getting goods to the US has been difficult, and back in September Miki suggested I order a new MINI to get the exact car I wanted. With his help, I ordered the JCW MINI convertible that I wanted. My lease was up in February 2022 on the Mini I had. Miki kept me up on production, shipping and delivery. He even gave me a website to track the cargo vessel carrying my car from Belgium to Port Hueneme! That was pretty cool to see where the car was in real time. Miki let me know once the car was delivered to the dealership and made the process extremely easy. It was the easiest, smoothest car-buying experience I have ever had! The positive is my service agent was lovely to work with. I also appreciate the fact they provided an Uber to get me home, and that they washed my car. Those things aside, I can always rely on the service department to provide me with some degree of frustration every time I visit them. I'm tired of going there and having the same predictable experience each time, so going forward I will happily travel out of my way to another dealer for any future service needs. The background for this decision is based on the experiences I've had with them on multiple different visits to service both an older model mini and a new mini. I had originally stopped going to Bob Smith Mini for any service needs in connection with my older mini because of a situation wherein they incorrectly diagnosed an issue, more than once, then charged a ridiculous amount to 'fix' said issue each time. One of the suggestions they had when it was clear they couldn't fix the problem was that I should carry around oil with me and just keep topping it off... I ultimately had the issue properly diagnosed and repaired by another dealer. Based on the assessment of that other dealer, this service department had not only incorrectly diagnosed the problem (which was apparently not terribly difficult to identify) multiple times, they had 'repaired' things that didn't need repairing, and also overcharged me in the process. Unfortunately, that trusted dealer is no longer available so I returned to Bob Smith Mini again when I was having an issue with an odd odor inside my new mini, which is under warranty. After quite a bit of runaround and several dismissals/refusals to help, they finally agreed to replace the cabin air filter. As expected, that fixed the issue, but it was a ridiculous amount of effort to get them to assist. I don't know if this reluctance to assist was because I didn't purchase the vehicle from them or what, but it's frustrating to have to argue to get assistance on a vehicle which is under warranty and covered by an extended service plan. Today I brought my older car in to have the battery checked and ended up with a diagnosis that my car requires several thousand dollars worth of 'repairs'. I have no confidence in these people. It's as if they are hoping the consumers who visit them don't know anything about vehicles so they can try and sell them things they don't need, and then do so at inflated prices. My service agent didn't even seem surprised when I shared with her my skepticism of their findings based on prior experiences. I advised her I would need to get a second opinion versus just having them do the work. Then, at pickup I was charged almost $200 for running a diagnostic on my battery. It would've been helpful if it was clearly explained at the time I dropped off the vehicle that the charge would apply regardless of if any actual repair work was done. My bad for not properly understanding, but seriously...$200 for a diagnostic? Not surprisingly, the mother and daughter at the service desk next to me seemed to be undergoing the same 'surprise' experience I've come to expect when visiting their service department... read more

Terrrible. Two different times this dealership has told me repairs will cost me upwards of 1000 dollars, only to check with another dealership...and repairs should have been covered under warranty. THEIVES! They always say "under further investigation, we have found it is under warranty. Diagnostics just to see what problem could be are so expensive. They are also so rude. HORRIBLE! I bought a Mini here and brought it in to be serviced on 6/15/23. I was told I needed two tires replaced, as they were worn out. I chose not to buy tires that day and when I brought my car to a tire store today (8/23/23), I was told all my tires were fine and didn't need to be replaced. Let's put it this way: Have you ever walked into a car dealership with a type of car and number in your mind, then walked out a couple hours later with a better car for a lower price? Yeah, it had never happened to me either until I got my new Mini Cooper at Bob Smith last weekend. I'm not sure if I just came in on a day when they were feeling generous or if they really will do this for anyone who wants a car that they don't happen to have in stock, but I was very impressed. Equally impressive is the friendly service from George, our rep, Ryan, the manager, and Richard, the finance guy. They all seem really knowledgeable and comfortable... no sweaty, sleazy salesmen here. The showroom is gorgeous and they do all they can to make you feel at home, from the latte machine to the donuts in the waiting room. A heads up that when I came in on a Saturday morning, it was pretty busy and we did have to wait a bit for other customers to go through the process, but the staff did everything they could to speed it all along. Maybe call ahead to see when a slower time would be, or just be prepared to take a big chunk out of your day to go car shopping... after all, it's a big decision and you might value the extra time to inspect all of the different options anyway! read more

They will take a ruler to your car and tack on hundreds of dollars over a scratch in the plastic. Also, I went way under mileage and was charged 100s of dollars for excessively worn tires. Which they were in PERFECT condition!!!!!!! Also be mindful if you lose the back piece in your trunk that will cost you hundreds too!!!! Oh yeah! The plastic cheap grill in front ... There is the running joke about women and auto repair dealers. Sad to say it is sometimes true. My wife went in with her Mini Cooper S, which is under warranty and was told she needed $600.00 worth of non warranty service ASAP. $300 of that was for an alignment and adding nitro to the never flat tires. This would run less than $120 at any "reputable" dealership or tire repair shop. The other $300 was for a fuel induction service which the dealer stated was needed. This was all done without even turning the engine on, much less driving it. Perhaps an alignment was needed. The tires did not show any uneven wear. But to charge more than double is excessive. Then there is the issue of the induction service. This is almost completely unnecessary and certainly not needed on an almost new, low milage vehicle driven under normal conditions. Will I have our car serviced again at Bob Smith? I really don't know. It is convenient as it is the closet dealer. Will I trust a single word that comes out of a service advisors mouth? I actually bought my used 2011 Mini Cooper S from a different dealership on 3/19, but wanted to have it checked out to make sure everything was in good condition. So I called Bob Smith Mini to schedule a service appointment. They said they would go over everything to make sure it was in tip top shape. In the days between the first initial call to make an appointment, and going in to the dealership for actual service, I had a very difficult time getting a hold of anyone again. I had more questions but unfortunately I kept getting their answering machine. At this point, I was starting to really miss Valencia Acura because of their great service. However, come Saturday morning at 11 AM, we met Christina at the service counter. She was willing to listen to all my concerns and even took my handwritten list to make sure they checked everything. I was waiting for her to start getting irritated with me... But she never did! She went over what I had left on my warranties, and even had the service department check things that weren't on my list. We got a call at around 1:30 and said our car would be done at about 3. When we went to pick it up, Christina went over everything they did. Went over my warranties AGAIN, and even wrote it down for me, and told me to call her if I had any other questions. With that, I just want to say thank you to Christina for the great customer service. Sidenote: I LOVE my Mini Cooper S! It's a change from driving an RDX, but you can't really compare the two since they are such different cars. I did love my Acura, however, it's definitely not as fun to drive as my Mini. Just had my first service at Bob Smith Mini. I live 70 miles away so I was a bit concerned when I arrived and was told my appointment had not been saved in their system. Matt in Service Reception took away any misgivings I was feeling, fixed all quickly and with a smile. While waiting for my rental I received a text from my Service Advisor, Matthew Bull who apologized for the confusion with my appointment, spoke to what needed to be done and then told me the warranty was in the previous owners name, so I unfortunately did not have warranty coverage. I called Matthew who answered his phone right away and told me he would speak to the finance department and see what was going on. I knew that things would be resolved but I was surprised at how quickly Matthew got back to me with the good news that he had taken care of everything and all was fine. His communication with me while my car was in his hands as well as after I picked her up was stellar and I'm hoping next time I bring my car in for service he will be the one to assist me.
