The car buying experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The good: The saleman was very curtious and easy to talk to. The dealership was clean and seemed like an efficient operation. The price I paid was fair. I didn't get a good price for my trade but that's because the resale value of used EV's is awful right now. Most of the transaction was performed via email and text messages, this didn't seem to be an issue. The not so good: When I tried to correspond, replys to my messages were very slow and the responses were sometimes vague. I made an appointment to close the deal and ended up waiting for over an hour to talk to the salesman, I was on a tight timetable and had a long drive to dealership. The final part of the transaction was rushed as they were closing. One of the financial guys came up to me after all the paperwork was filled out and said they needed an extra $500. This is the third time a dealer has tried to squeeze another $500 out at the last minute. read more

RUN from this business. PLEASE. And please read this review. These people are scam artists. I was pregnant with our third a year ago and we had very limited options as we are in the process of improving our credit. They were very friendly upon arrival, we only qualified for a Chrysler Pacifica which isn't really what we wanted but again, fine. The Pacifica we drove was decent. I pointed out the minivan on the website had way different features than the one we test drove, and it said it would be a different color. The salesman didn't even look into it. Told me that the one we test drove was the correct one, that they must've mislabeled the website. We buy it, drive it off and are driving it about a week or two. They call us and tell us the van we are driving isn't the van we bought and we have to return it and take home the correct van. What??? They tell us "oh don't worry, the one you ACTUALLY bought is super nice, way better than the one you accidentally took home!" BULL. We didn't have many options as again, I was pregnant with our third and our only other vehicle was a civic. So we really needed the space and second vehicle. We get the "new"van. Immediately we notice it is NOT as nice as the other one we thought we bought and test drove. We tell them that. The side mirror was broken (still is a year later since they wouldn't fix it for us), they promised us a second key fob, didn't get that. What we did get was a ten dollar gift card to a gas station, a super rickety feeling minivan, and problem upon problem. Oh goody! Today, one year later, I notice the seat is completely broken. The seat my FIVE MONTH OLD was sitting in because I didn't notice it had broken until I was taking her out. All the levers somehow broke. Completely broken. I seriously have NO idea how this happens, the only thing holding the seat upright was her car seat. Awesome. I'm in shambles. It feels so shady. There's no way that they all just broke. We looked into it online and it really seems like some cheap fix was attempted at some point (with all the other issues on this thing I wouldn't be surprised) and their fix didn't hold up. They are unprofessional and inconsiderate. I had an issue with a car I bought a year ago from them and when I came in I spoke with Finance that stated it was covered under my warranty.When I get to the service dept the gentleman (I use that loosely) ask what's the issue. I show him the paper for my warranty and tell him it may be a problem with my muffler or exhaust. Immediately without hesitation and rudely he says "I don't think exhaust is covered". Then I say I had the car a year and things are falling from underneath and he says "Rust happens" just as rudely. I wouldn't recommend them for any service and at this point not even for a car. This was the second issue with them. The first time they basically had my car from 9am-6pm for an all around inspection. Wouldn't return my call, when I got back to the shop it was closed and it was 8-10 men standing around staring at me. No sorry it took so long or anything of the sort. They took the covering off the door that covers the key hole and left it in my cup holder. Then on my review on Google someone left a message (from Bob Johnson) saying someone would reach out to me to discuss my concerns. Of course they DID NOT. Bought a slightly used vehicle with only 6000 miles. The vehicle had customization like black rims, black bumpers, black running boards , fender flares and trim. It was a nice contrast to the white body and we liked it alot. Just 5 and a half weeks later the black customization started peeling and chipping. We didn't realize these weren't black accessories from the factory but found out that Bob Johnson wrapped the chrome with black vinyl. Just after 5 weeks it was peeling and chipping and showing the chrome beneath. We called back to the sales department and they offered to peel the vinyl all off . We didn't want a vehicle with chrome accents like every other stock vehicle we chose and bought this vehicle for over $1000 a monthly pmt because we liked it was different with the black accents. Bottom line we feel lied to and deceived and we now own something expensive that is essentially a different color than what we thought we bought! I wouldn't trust buying a vehicle from them. What other shady things do they do to make sales? The vehicle bumper was damaged by the plow on the lot before we bought it and at the time of sale they said they would replace the broken bumper piece. After delivery when I called they suddenly didn't remember that and had to talk to a manager about it but the manager was on vacation. Well that was 2 months ago and the bumper isn't fixed and no one has called! I would not trust a vehicle from here. Anne Lakis my sales person was the BEST. However the Service Dept is the WORST!! Told me they had to order a part for me brand new 2025 Chevy Trax with just 31 miles on it. Said it would take 5-6 days to come in. After not hearing from them for 14 days I called. Come to find out the part had been there for several days. Told me they don't call customers when it is close to the end of the month. They told me I would have to leave it for several hours. I tben looked it up on the internet. It's a 30 minute repair. Service manager called me with all sorts of excuses. NOTHING CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!! I purchased a 3.0L Duramax Silverado in January 2023 at the 390 location, and the experience after the sale has been extremely disappointing. Since purchasing the truck, it has had ongoing check engine light issues. I initially took it to another GM dealership (Dansville Chevrolet), where the vehicle was taken apart multiple times without fixing the problem. I was eventually told outright that their mechanic was not experienced with the 3.0L Duramax engine. After this repeated teardown by an inexperienced technician, the truck now has an oil leak that did not exist prior to service. Because the vehicle was never fixed and was left in worse condition, I contacted Bob Johnson Chevrolet, where I bought the truck, to ask for help getting the issue resolved properly. I explained the situation clearly and stated that I would need a loaner vehicle if the truck was going to be kept for diagnostics. I spoke with two women in the service department. The second, who I believe was a manager or supervisor, was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I was told that no loaners were available and that my only option was to drop the truck off and go without transportation. When I explained that I am a disabled veteran and rely on my vehicle to attend medical appointments, I was told, essentially, "too bad." There was no attempt to determine when a loaner might be available. There was no empathy, no attempt to help, and no interest in finding any reasonable alternative. The conversation became increasingly hostile, and I was eventually threatened with being hung up on. I was not asking for special treatment -- I was asking for basic professionalism, accountability, and respect, especially after the dealership was made aware that prior service involved admitted inexperience and resulted in a new oil leak. Between the unresolved mechanical issues and the way I was treated after disclosing that I am a disabled veteran, I cannot recommend Bob Johnson Chevrolet. I called last week to have my 2013 srx serviced which I bought from them as a used vehicle. I made an appt.for March 31 to be brought in at 8:15. When I got there the service writer told be they couldn't work on it because they didn't have the technology to fix. The problem I am having is a parasitic draw on my battery. I purchased a used Honda Pilot from Bob Johnson Chevy in Pulaski and I was pretty pumped at first, however, as my first month of ownership is about over I am finding my overall experience very lacking. For starters, I noticed a couple of issues with the car prior to taking delivery, Dylan said he would take care of it and neither was fully resolved. I ended up having to purchase a new license plate light (Honda OEM so it wasn't cheap) as it's a whole unit, not just a bulb as Dylan assured me it was. Also the front trim on the grill around the headlights was not seating into the grill. Dlyan reseated it but it has since popped out again. I've reseated it but I think it'll have to be replaced, as I am assuming the clips aren't catching. I also asked Dlyan about my registration (prior to signing anything) expiring within the next couple weeks and he said "Oh we just transfer it, even if it's just a day away" and that I could just renew it anytime. After talking to the DMV and Maddie he should have selected a box to renew the registration and provide me with a temp. Got a temp but it was only good to the day my registration expired. I had to call Maddie multiple times to get this taken care of before my registration expired. She told me she would push it through the DMV and send me a photo of the registration so I had it since my temp expired on 10/7. Still haven't gotten that photo and it's 10/9. Turns out paperwork wasn't finalized for the loan services, I had to call Nate to find out none of my deal was scanned into their system, so the loan wasn't funded. My buyout payment was processed about 3 days after my car payment was due so hopefully there's nothing there that's going to ding me. I feel like there was some serious details missed on my deal. It's not like I was buying a $10k used car....i spend close to $30k on this and really and dissatisfied with the experience. Not sure I would recommend Bob Johnson to anyone that asks. read more

Third time with absolute terrible service in all departments. Dropped my car off at 345 for a NYS inspection (which takes 20 minutes) and got a call around 5:23 letting me know they couldn't get to the inspection...you had my car for almost 2 hours and couldn't get to it??? Stop sending your techs home early on a Friday and actually do your jobs. On top of that, Chris in service had no remorse or care at all or even a heads up that they might not get to it, just a "my bad" like what do you mean "my bad"?? Bob Johnson needs to fire these people because they don't care - another guy chimed in saying their systems messed up because their online appointments say drop off and don't actually start once you drop off your car which makes zero sense since my car was taken right into the garage once I dropped it off. I've leased 4 equinoxes over the last 12 yrs or so. The sales dept has always been good to me. That's why there are 3 stars. Service however, is a whole different world. If it were for just service it would be less than one. Each time I've needed service, mainly inspections, the procedure has changed. One time it's first come first serve, next we do inspections at the other building where we do oil changes, then it's we don't do them it's at the main building, now we do them by appointment only. The last I understand. But we only do appointments for drop offs til 10AM, but no idea when it will be done. Estimate was that it would be at least 3-4 hours before it would inspected! This for a 2 yr old car. I don't know how a dealership that was well known for being efficient and customer friendly has become so self-important and out of touch. Maybe Bob Johnson Corp has gotten so big with its multiple car agencies that it no longer believes it needs to take better care of those who have been loyal to them over the years. I'm sure I will not hear any response to this but I must now reevaluate whether I will continue to do further business with them. read more

Said they would need to order one and once in, would have me come back in to pick up and program to the vehicle. I tried to convince my husband to walk out of the dealership before signing any lease, as Bob Johnson is not the only dealership around. To start, you don't get the deals that you go there for, even with excellent credit! While waiting for our vehicle, we were told it needed a jump- what!! But being a female with 2 men talking, of course that was o.k. to them. Still, my husband would not listen to me and thank the salesman for his time and leave. So, we sign the lease, paying more for a leased Equinox than we did for a Ford Edge! Within 3 weeks, yes 3 WEEKS, the check engine light came on, went off, came on. So we called and had to take time out of our schedule to bring in a barely driven 3 week old car, because we still had the Edge. They told us it was a"glitch", because of course when it was there for service the check engine light was off! We got the car back and within a couple of weeks, the check engine light came on again! This time I took pics of the dashboard! Turns out the "new" car has issues. We again drove it back to them where they kept it this time for an entire MONTH! Yes, they gave us a loaner, but the loaner was not of even of equal value! All the while monthly lease payments were being made! Now, for the past week, the car makes some loud, scary, rumbling noise, that also vibrates the car! Like when you cross the double yellow that is grooved, but louder. It does this whenever! It doesn't matter what speed, road, driver, time of day, road condition, etc. I requested a callback from Bob Johnson Chevrolet in Greece, NY which was SUPPOSED to be today! This is why I am writing reviews of the poor service and quality of first, and now last time customers! I have also warned a co-worker who is looking to start leasing since her car broke down, NOT to go to Bob Johnson for any vehicle. We had a nice long conversation while I was giving her a ride home. The customer service was absolutely awful! I purchased a vehicle in February. A payment on my 2022 vehicle was inadvertently sent to GM after the deal was made on the 2025. Therefore Bob Johnson owed me $322.88. I fought with them for months trying to get the right person to understand why they owed me this money. It took me to go to the district manager, which he gave me the manager of the store on Ridge Road phone number. I spoke to the manager, he said that he would look into it. This was now June the end result was I did receive my money, but had to fight for it for months. The new vehicle had a squeak in the passenger side chair. I made an appointment for it to get looked at. When I went to drop off the vehicle, they told me they would need it for the day. Several hours went by and I did not receive a call so I called them to find out what the status of my vehicle was. The girl said she would leave a message with the gentleman that had taken care of me. He never got back to me so I called again. She said she would connect me to him and hung up on me. They called me back to tell me that they had not worked on my vehicle and they would need it for another day because he could not find somebody to go for a ride with him to find out what was squeaking. My day. I said my appointment was for that day and the young man said I told you that we might need it for another day. I said don't lie. You never said that and that it was f'n ridiculous that they had my car all day and hadn't even looked at it. I ended up picking up my vehicle. I made an appointment with West Herr Chevrolet. They were very nice. Had my car for four hours called me and told me they had to order the part. It would take two weeks and they would let me know when it came in. I needed a whole new frame for the passenger side seat, I will never go back to Bob Johnson Chevrolet. My family has had problems with them as well and they are not going back to them at all. If I could give their service department zero stars I would. This review is entirely for the service department. Brought my truck there for warranty work a week ago. Left my keys in a filled out night drop envelope with my phone number and name. Also left a large printed out sheet on my drivers seat with same info on it including the issues I was having. Called and talked to the girl who was answering phones and went over for a third time about my truck and gave my number again. Hours went by and no call. Stuck home with no vehicle. Called to check on it and was told that they tried calling me hours ago to say it was done and that the other part would have to be rescheduled. Asked what number they called and was given a number I had not used in 15 years. Lazy employees never took the time to read anything. So this morning I had another appointment to replace another part. A simple hour at best to do so. After last visit I repeated a dozen times my contact info and was assured they had it correctly. Three hours later I call to see what is going on and same thing. Was told my truck was done for over two hours and that the service writer called me. FUMING! Went to pick it up and he tries to show me they called. I asked if he left a message and he would t answer that. I showed my phone that no incoming calls. Every time you walk into the service department here all they do is chat with each other about their personal lives and there is no customer service. I m located in South Jersaey and purchased a used commercial vehicle from Grant Corsaro , the purchase went exceptionally well drove 5 1/2 hrs there and back my choice , paid for NJ tags / Regis thru the dealership and purchased an extended warranty realizing the drive back to them and it being a used truck . Left the dealership with temp tag and regis with a 30 day exp date , I noticed that not only had my tag expired but I hadn t received my tags or regis . I notified the gen mgr and the salesman thru phone call / text / e mail about this and grant told me the vitu contractor they use dropped the ball on them and they scrambled to provide me with another tenpory tag until the NJ tags and regis arrived 7-14 days I was told by grant , at 13 days I again reacehed out to grant and paul at which only paul responded and tells me its going to be another 7 days .Since this has all started I ve texted daily both grant and paul , I ve e mailed twice sometimes 3 times daily re minding them of the looming expiration date of the 2nd temporary tag , Today at mid nite the temp tag expires after multiple communication efforts to avoid this , Now being shown after over 3 months being shown a fed ex tracking # for a label that was created but not yet shipped from Richmond,Va to Rochester,NY not overnite not expedited and not directly to me ! but to the dealership in NY not to me in NJ , asked why they couldn t ovnite it to me so I would have it tomorrow or Monday at the latest ,and was told that was not possible , thats not Rob Johnsons priority here , fact is even if thats my tags/regis and knowing the gravity of knowing that I need these to use the commerciakl truck that I bought 3 months ago to genertate revenue , I m 3 payments in will be 4 in a couple of weeks over 10k spent outfitting the truck to use in our business and being told in the 11th hour again that they have my money and they don t really care whether I was satisfied with my purchase , hell I can t enjoy it I can t take it out of my lot its now a 50K lawn ornament / billboard , my enjoyment was using it to help build my business . Terrible service - poor communication, don't follow up with what they say Called parts / service on 5/10 to have my driver's side mirror replaced. Spoke to Ashley in parts department and she told me the part would be in within four days and she forwarded me to service department to make an appointment for installation. I explained to Andy in service that I needed a mirror and parts was ordering one for me - it would be in within four days. He set me up with an appointment on 5/17 - I explained to him I would drop off the car that night before and he told me they would work on it that morning. I dropped the car off the night before. About middle of the day Monday I called to see if I could pick up the car on my way home from work. Andy told me that the part had not come in. I was furious - why had no one bothered to call and let me know? By this point it was 12:30 in the afternoon and had planned my week around having my car back that evening. ' Andy told me the part would be overnighted and my car would be fixed the next day (Tues). I asked about compensation and he did offer me 10% which I was happy with. The next day Andy called me mid day to let me know that the part had still not come in. I asked why I was told it would be in and he replied "that is what I was told." He also then told me that parts department had told me I would be called when the part came in, which was not true - as I was forwarded By them to service to set up an appointment on my original call. Fed up I asked to speak to a manager whos name I do not remember. The manager continued to make excuses saying that this was not the normal way they do things and trying to deflect the blame from his department to parts. He told me it would be at least a couple of days before the part came in and then it would need to be painted. My question being - why was I then told to make an appointment, told it was going to be overnighted? I asked about compensation since I had now been two days without my car and had rearranged several things to keep it there an extra day. He told me he could do $50, which was a joke. I had already been promised 10% which by my calculation for this job would be about 60% - this was when I only lost my car for one day! He told me he would need to make some calls and figure out a price and get back to me about compensation. I told him in the mean time I would pick up my car. Three days later he has still not bothered to call me back. Unbelievably bad customer service! If you do business with them expect disorganization and poor communication. These guys will sell you a car and give you a nice experience but forget about getting any kind of service done here. Their service department is a joke. I have gone here 4 times for service on vehicles I have purchased through them and each time there is a different problem. My Lease is almost up. I called Bob Johnson Kia in Greece. I needed a phone number to call to purchase the SUV. I called multiple times. Never received a return phone call or spoke to anyone except a woman who sent me to Voicemail. Their lack of courtesy guarantees I will never purchase from them. I can purchase my next car from any dealer. It's easier to keep a customer by giving courteous service, than to find a new customer. read more

I'm from Rochester, but have not lived here since 2005. While visiting my father, he had an opportunity to purchase a vehicle and was pretty excited when we found several used vehicles through Bob Johnson - as I recalled they had a good reputation and had grown substantially since 2005. The salesperson (Ralph Dollinger) was terrific. I was disappointed however, that Bob Johnson appears to have "stopped trying" since obtaining #1 status. They don't fill your tank with purchase nor do they snap a photo of the driver with their new vehicle for social media. Most importantly, my father is eldery and has NO IDEA how to work the control panel screen. There should be some type of overview, beside handing him the instruction book. EVEN CAR MAX puts a bow on the car and takes a photo! Perhaps they don't think they need further marketing, but what ever happened to creating an "experience" for the buyer. Car purchases should be exciting and feel special. A bit sad about this. read more

My daughter was buying her first car from them. She put down a deposit and before it arrived they called to say they made a mistake and sold it to someone else. I assumed they would make it up to us by getting her something similar or better for the same, but they did not. Needless to say, my daughter is crushed. If I could give zero stars I would. They state they know what they are doing after talking with Andy he stated that probably wasn't the problem. Turns out it was the problem and decided to do work without authorization and charge an arm and a leg. I do not recommend going to this dealership. They are complete idiots who have no clue what is going on. Not only did we request multiple different calls and called multiple different times to get information and got hardly anything. Shame on the service department for inflating prices during COVID 19. Took a car in to get fixed for a leak, got a quote for $1000-$1200 when finished. Our son had same issue and paid $540. So no you won't be getting out service for inflation of pricing, knowing it was a female that brought car in so yo could jack up your price cause we don't know the difference and to anyone that uses their service, I hope you don't get taken for more money either. Took the car to a place that gave us a reasonable price with reputable reputation. No even worth one star. read more

My husband's 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche had a recall. It was an easy process to make the appointment for the fix. We had dropped the truck off, it was very busy and was told it would be a few hours so we left. However, we weren't home 30 minutes and Service called to let us know the problem was fixed! The worst experience ever!!! Spoke with a few sales rep there the manager found out that i was approved for a deal down the road then spit out a number for a pickup i was interested in then when he realized i would take it he lied and said the truck just sold... its still on the lot today.. Mike and Grant were just lying over and over i cant get a straight answer but overall a bad experience.
