Took my 2016 F250 in for a state inspection, a recall and a good "physical" as I was getting ready to take a trip out west. Got a call from the service department that the truck had failed inspection due to the window tint. I informed service that it has been inspected in NY eight (8) times and never once was the window tint and issue. I reviewed my paperwork to find that it was inspected by this dealership less than two (2) years prior, without any issues. The service rep told me it never should have passed back then. Was also quoted $83 to clean the battery terminals and that my DEF was getting low. The recall was not really a recall per the service rep either. I would never trust this dealership to be honest with me, and I will never return there. read more

I just got back from GVF in Avon NY. I had gone in for a NYS and to check out the rear brakes as there were gouges on the rotors along with a tire rotation and oil change. As I had purchased the vehicle from there lot. I was told on my previous visit that I had one service left of the free oil change and tire rotation left before they would become invalid. I was informed that There was a glitch and THEY had written the services up incorrectly so instead of saying oops our fault we screwed up when We informed you of the availible services left on your purchase I was charged for the oil change even though they had written the services up incorrectly and informed there customer of the incorrect information. I feel this was an error on the business and the consumer had to eat this one when they were informed of wrong information. I was also informed that back brakes for a 21 Jeep Compass was going to be like $900... Please that's a price gouge if I ever saw one. Do yourself a favor and just run... Seems like they are all over the place and don't communicate within the company so why would they communicate well with their customers..... read more

This review is meant for the entire Genesee Valley Motors dealership instead of just the Ford dealership, but even with that in mind, my recent experience with them left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't recommend Genesee Valley Motors due to their lack of communication in letting prospective customers know a car was still available when it was actually no longer available. In other words - it was sold when I drove all the way down to their dealership in Avon to take a look. I hoped to take a look at their 2012 Nissan Versa, and throughout the week before, the sales rep I talked to (Tommy) said it was still available. I called the dealership yesterday, and they said yes, it was still available. And also, the car was not taken off their website - if it was really sold, it should've been taken off. No. I should've seen the red flag coming when the rep I spoke to before was off today (I didn't know that). Another rep then went over and checked for it, and later said, "Sorry, the car has been sold." I explained to him it was still up on the website, but he said, "No, it's been sold." I was extremely disappointed, and after realizing there was also no communication about looking at any other cars within my budget, I just left. I called them after, explaining if the car had been sold, I should've been notified - that way I didn't have to drive all the way out there. All I got was apologies and that all reps involved in my situation would be talked to. To be fair, my family had a similar experience with another dealer - where they found a car online and wanted to look at it, only to make the drive and find out the car had been sold already. So this turned out to be a repeating situation, this time I was the one suckered in. Lack of communication, lack of follow-up and no empathy - those things don't make a connection for any future car purchases. Sorry Genesee Valley Motors, I can't recommend you at all. Best car buying experience I've ever had. I purchased a used Toyota Tacoma from them in June 2015. They were straight forward about the price, which was by far the lowest in my local search. No other dealer came close to the same value buy. Dean helped me with the purchase, he was friendly, honest, and helped me find the lowest rate financing. The "A-team" for diagnosing car problems is not there on Saturdays, which happens to be the most common day to take your car in for a fix (at least for me). Because of this reason, they had to wait until Monday to diagnose the problems on my car. Then parts had to be ordered, then fix. This totaled 6 days that they had my car, not easy to be without. read more

I really appreciated Genesee Valley's approach to car sales. We bought a brand new 2016 Ford Transit. One thing that really impressed me was how the team helped each other during the process. There seemed to be a real team spirit between the people working there. Dylan got me answers to my questions and called me back when most other dealers were not giving me the time of day in relationship to this non-standard vehicle. As a customer I felt like I was being helped. They gave me what I wanted on my trade and there was no dickering on the price. In the end, they even threw in my remote starter for free, something I wanted but didn't ask for. This was really appreciated. I'd definitely recommend buying a car from these folks, especially compared to the other dealerships in the area. read more

I went to Genesee Valley looking to lease a new car. Tony Srye showed me some options and took me on a few test drives. He really made an effort to help me find a vehicle with everything I was looking for in my price range. After visiting a few other dealerships with salespeople that were pushing me into something that I really couldn't afford..it was nice to have someone truly care what my wants and needs were. I was looking at buying a car from this dealership. I had checked out the car alone and took it for a test drive. Lenny was helping me the first day. when I asked him questions about the car he told me he didn't know anything about it because he deals with ford's and this was a vw. the second time I stopped in to make sure the car was still there and double check on the price. Wanting a second opinion I drove an hour from my house with my brother to check out the car a third time, this time prepared to settle at the price they were giving me. when we arrived we were approached by a lady who unlocked the car for us. After unlocking the car she begins the tell me that she knows I've been here before and that if we want to take the car for a test drive I have to understand the price isn't going down and that she won't let us take it out unless I was willing to pay this price. this caught me off guard. she then proceeds to ask us what we do for a living as if to say we can't afford the car. the more this lady spoke the more we felt disrespected. after she being extremely rude as I'm already in my car she asked if we wanted to take a test drive. I said no and left the dealership. never will I return and would not recommend this dealership to anyone that wants to be treated like a human being. read more

Just purchased a 2015 F-150 XLT from Larry T. (Traded in a Mustang; wanted something pot-hole proof, and better in winter driving.) Buying experience was true as advertised--no nonsense. Larry was very patient and thorough when it came to explaining all the IP features like SYNC--I feel like he saved me a couple of hours from reading the 500 page manual! He took the initiative to install the Boxlink feature for me too--very cool! I never felt rushed or pressured during the entire process. This is my first vehicle purchased at Genesee Valley. (I never considered Genesee Valley before since I'm up in Rochester, but I liked the ads in City Newspaper and was curious to see if the dealer lived up to their slogan.) This is my fourth Ford. I bought three Fords from Kitty in Fairport; thought I'd give Dom in Avon a go this time, even though I live 20 miles away. I like to drive an imported vehicle. Imported from Dearborn, MI! 70% US made! (Shout out to my UAW union brothers and sisters for making this awesome truck!) i certainly thought my review would be different but unfortunately not. The service writer was very argumentative with my husband - evidently forgetting who the customer was and who needed to be treated with respect. The mechanic found the problem and then looked further to say that something else may be an issue as well but not sure. Why the mechanic looked further when he solved it is anyone's guess and that is why my husband questioned it. My husband spoke to a manager who spoke to the service writer and then the service writer had the temerity to call my husband out on the fact that he spoke to a manager. The fact that my husband asked for the original parts back caused the service write to get defensive as well. The best way for the service writer to handle the situation was to get the relationship back on positive footing. When we picked up the vehicle, the service writer was very respectful and even gave us a break on the price. While that was very nice and very much appreciated, I would much rather have had a stress-free interaction with the dealer. read more

Incredible experience at Genesee Valley Ford. I am a stickler for quality, price and service. I researched for months to find the right vehicle for me. I keep cars for a very long time; the last time I purchased a new car was in 2006. Once I decided on a 2017 Ford Edge, my next task was to research where to buy the Edge; who would give me the best price while providing excellent service? Genesee Valley Ford was that place. And Dave Fountain was/is an excellent partner during the entire process, from pricing to delivery. Notice I did not call Dave a"salesman," even though that's his job. I can tell you that Dave treated me with respect, provided information up front and freely and truly had my best interest in mind. I took possession of my Edge at the end of January. The process was simple and straightforward, never a hassle nor an item overlooked. I highly recommend Genesee Valley Ford (and Dave Fountain) if you're in the market for a new car.
