First time going to a Bob Evan's with my girlfriend, and upon entering we were greeted with friendly staff with smiles on their faces. My girlfriend got the biscuits and gravy and I got the sunrise breakfast. It took probably less than 10 minutes for our food to come out. Our waitress checked up on us often, never let my coffee cup get below half, and was very friendly. The food was delicious and is priced well. My girlfriend and I saw a waitress having a good time and playing around with one of the kids at a table next to us. We definitely need more staff like this in restaurants. The food is good, the service was really good, you can tell they were understaffed but the lady did a great job checking on us every time she walked by. The place is nice and clean god ambiance conducive to conversation. My friend ordered a chicken noodle soup and she got a big bowl (see picture) I ordered one to go and I got less than a cup (see last picture with my friend's empty bowl and my to-go container next to it. I met friends for breakfast. The server was busy but she never came back to refill our coffees. She was pleasant but forgot items a few times. I ordered a chicken Cobb salad with avocado. The avocado was a purée dollop - I suppose I should have asked if there were slices. They have their own parking lot so it's not too hard to find a spot. Best breakfast around. I can't always count on the biscuits and gravy in the nice crispy bacon. The cook made my eggs perfectly. And Carla, the server, is so stinking sweet. No french vanilla creamer but she brought me vanilla sweetener. She always goes above and beyond for me. And the others she seemed. The staff seem to get along great and the food is always excellent. This place had the slowest service and when it was brought to the managers attention she made excuses and then doubled down with a homophonic attitude. Never once did she apologize for the slow service or cold food. She did however try the make it about he assumption that I was gay and that I didn't need to be talking to her and that I was not welcome. I won't be returning to that location or any other Bob Evans ever again and will go out of my way to let everyone I know about this bigoted behavior. Carla is a GREAT waitress! She's actually The best one in there who deserves a raise/bonus or a promotion. She greets her customers with a smile, Is Very patient, and gets the order right every time I go. You don't get too many like that. I've experienced horrible Waiters who throws my plate down with a bad attitude but Carla never does that. She goes above and Beyond and makes the whole experience at Bob Evans great which keeps me coming back. Please don't do her wrong, Treat her bad, or kick her if she down because you have an excellent waitress with high eloquence, and exponential potential. Uninspired to make the Christmas Eve dinner we were planning, we decided to eat out and check out the lights at Bronson Park and the luminaria in the Winchell neighborhood. But on Christmas Eve our usual haunts were closed. All of the Nonlas (Burger, et. al.) were closed. Niko's Express was closed. Chinn Chinn was packed with busloads waiting. How about a Jet's Pizza? Closed. So we resisted our desire to shoot ourselves in the heads again by going to Steak 'n Shake and went to a restaurant we hadn't been to in ten years. And, yikes, it started out badly. We walked in and stood, waiting to be seated, and three employees bickered with each other, each one trying to get the others to show us to a table. I say out loud, "You realize we're standing here?" The employee with the arm sling lost, and she showed us our table, saying as she left, "I like your bear." But our server, Lindsay, was long in efficiency and energy, particularly considering it was Christmas Eve. She took good care of us. We appreciated not having the server assigned to the neighboring booth, who spent the bulk of her time chillin' with customers and sharing, for example, how she couldn't wait to quit and start her job at Outback's, and how she was anticipating with excitement making better tips because Outback's served alcohol. A third server, clearing a nearby table, dropped a dirty napkin to the floor. The Future Outback's server walked by, looked down at the napkin, and passed it by. Lindsay picked it up. My girl ordered the shrimp dinner. I had the Shaved Ham and Swiss Melt. My girl liked her dinner a lot. She thought the shrimp were good size and tasty, and commented that the baked potato and sour cream - and the cole slaw side - were the best she'd ever eaten. My sandwich was described in the menu as "Shaved hickory-smoked ham, melted Swiss cheese and caramelized onions layered on grilled Brioche bread and garnished with deli pickles." No pickles and the bread was Texas Toast. And the sandwich was 95% bread. The amount of protein and cheese was minuscule. A rip off. My girl, midway through the meal, had to use the bathroom. She told the hostesses afterwards the bathroom was a Superfund site. As I was paying the tab, my girl checked. She said the bathroom had been properly cleaned. I suppose Bob Evans restaurants are this generation's Bill Knapps. The environment is a safe one, it doesn't serve alcohol, and the food is usually filling and forgettable. read more

I don't mind giving places their redemption. Which is why here I am at bob eve and again. Mason jar of water was cracked and leaked all over the table. But a manager did come and get the jar. No napkins to clean anything though. But thank goodness for the one holding the silverware. The food was ok, it was cold, so it did sit for a minute. But it wasn't over or undercooked. Warmed it up and that was that. Bottom line. The server was wonderful and the food was ok. So it was a bearable attempt to try again. read more

Well let me tell you. 3 years ago my wife and I stopped here to grab some breakfast and it was AWFUL. Since I'm fat and usually hungry we were looking for something different and there was Bob Evans. So I said crap let's try it again. The hostess was great and then we met this 16 year old waiter names Trent. He looked nervous but after 2 minutes with my family and we're good. This kid was great. On the spot with drinks and refills. Food was ok. Like all chain restaurants it was kinda bland but ok and filling. Trent made the difference. I mentioned to my waitress that I ordered my eggs scrambled and not over easy and she said she would go get me some scrambled eggs. About 20 minutes later she returned just to give me my bill. I typically come here about once a month, and have never had an issue. Today I decided to order something other than one of their omelettes (which are very good). I ordered a 6 oz sirloin that was supposed to be cooked medium rare. It came out very well done, so my waitress took it back for the next one to come out even worse than the last. After talking to the manager they decided to take the meal off my bill, but decided to never inform me of never making me another steak. After over 15 minutes of waiting, the waitress finally told me they canceled my order. Mind you this was the WAITRESS... I never once say a manager, who's supposed to make amends for bad service. Extremely disappointed. For a breakfast place, they should know how to cook eggs. I told the waitress I did not want runny yolk, she said "over medium", I said over hard to be sure. They came back over easy and the bacon was overdone and shattered in my mouth. That's all I had ordered and it was gross to eat. Since I am forced to eat salmon on a regular basis I discovered the salmon at every Bob Evans is just as good as anywhere else I've ever had it. They lost a star because the Broccoli that came with it was cold. Green beans continue to be way over salted which cost them another star. However the salmon was perfectly cooked as I asked it came with plenty of lemons courtesy of Mistie as I had requested and she was wonderful so that got them the fourth star back. Not fancy but not bad good breakfast, good food solid value. I've paid a lot more for salmon that wasn't any better than what they served me here and in a few places wasn't as good. read more

Good family style restaurant serving excellent food. I had a cheese omelette and a side of whole wheat toast and hashbrowns. The omelette ws good, Although the cheese could have been melted a bit more. The toast and hashbrowns were delicious. The service today (04/03/19) was good. The waitress was courteous and professional. The restaurant itself was clean and not too crowded or noisy. Will come again sometime. read more
