From the first contact with M J Barela to the last installation of the shower doors, I was very pleased. M J listened carefully to what I needed, he scheduled the work at my convenience, he kept me informed on an almost daily basis, and he made sure that clean up was done often. All the subcontractors were introduced to me, my husband and our dog on the first day of the job. The subcontractors were competent, were interested in my opinions and were friendly. I love the new bathroom and especially the shower. I would recommend Dream Casa Builders for any project.

Extra Mile Builders Really Goes The Extra Mile!…read more I contacted Extra Mile Builders for a small renovation project in my living room. I have an open floor plan in my house, and I wanted them to build a soffit to delineate space between the kitchen/dining area and the living room, put a faux beam under it, and make it look like it's always been there. I also wanted them to attach faux beams from the soffit to the wall across the space to create a modern take on Viga beams. They did a stunning job. The quality of their craftsmanship is clear. Everyone from start to finish was professional, courteous, and kind. I was sincerely impressed by this team and will be using them in future renovation projects.

Design Solutions may do an acceptable job of renovating a structure, but it does it at the cost of…read moresafety and goodwill. It sends sub-contractors who do not have proper safety equipment, such as ladders. These subcontractors set up ladders and then 'leap' on and off a roof at the risk of their well-being. These subs also regularly steal the electricity and water of contiguous residences. When that conduct is reported to Design Solutions, they like to say their subcontractors are only "borrowing" your electricity and water without ever explaining how it will be repaid. Design Solutions also does a very poor job of supervising its subs, who throw trash and other refuse onto adjoining property. It is done with such regularity that it suggests this is an ingrained custom and habit of this company. So, if work is being done close to your residence, mount your Ring cameras so you can rebut Design Solutions' customary denials that the quality of their supervision is sub-standard.

(I've been involved in 9 remodeling projects in 5 towns.) At several junctures of the project - beginning with my original idea to expand a small porch and later when we were working on details such as cabinetry and lighting - he offered suggestions that achieved my goals but were more cost-effective and better aesthetically. In addition to improving the functionality of the small porch, he designed and built a cover for a large irregularly shaped portal/patio that neither felt cozy nor provided any protection from the New Mexico sun. The finished result adds about 400 sq. feet of what feels like another room to the house. He also managed various updates to the interior that fulfilled the potential of its already excellent "bones." The house's previous owners had used him for a complicated drainage/foundation project, and he came to the real estate inspection on a Saturday afternoon just so that he could answer any questions I had and facilitate the sale for his clients. His crew and sub-contractors were top-notch: skilled, respectful of the property and beyond patient with my dogs. Tim truly is a Designer/Builder in the largest sense of the words, and I really envy anyone that hires him to build a house from scratch since I'm sure that would be an even more impressive display of his vision and competence.

He also re-roofed the house and provided a limited 10 year warranty, which will now serve the Buyers. After owning the house for 14 years, I'm selling it, and the realtors and prospective Buyers who attended the first open house commented on the quality of the improvements and also the Venetian plaster work one of Julian's specialists worked on. One thing: With Always Construction, when bids are submitted, it's best to make sure that all the elements you are expecting from the project are stated there in writing. On his roof bid, he merely said he would seal the skylights, and since they are a part of the roof,I assumed everything having to do with the skylights would be included--not the case. One skylight had to be replaced. This was a misunderstanding, and we worked it out. Obtaining quality work in Santa Fe is not easy, and Always Construction provided it.
