Saturday 7/26/25 I drove 22 miles from Wylie got there at 2:20pm for Buffalo fish. Since I was there also picked up some catfish for a Sunday fish fry.. Now the sign said they cut fish so this leads me to believe they cut like you ask.. I wanted a steak cut so all bones would be in a central location.. The guy there was not very help maybe he didnt understand but then he shouldn't be there in front addressing customers if he cannot give customers what they are asking for or explain what can be done. All he said that I really got was that I had to buy the whole fish, which was fine cuz I needed a lot. I'm asking questions trying to make sure I get what I'm asking for but was not really getting clear answers, so I just let him to him since HE's the professional and cuts fish everyday! Now my family buys buffalo fish in Memphis TN all the time, we always got card game and family fish fry's going. So my expectations were really high because Id found a fish market like home, has buffalo, and the place been around since 1950, I research everything reviews were iffy but they were dated or filtered. HOWEVER, I GAVE THEM BENEFIT OF DOUBT and TOO MUCH CREDIT!! I get home open up the package like WTF, half a head, the tail, fins attached and everything butcher in between. The smell was so bad so, of course I wash it really well, but the smell barely faded. So I'm standing there looking at all this butchered ass fish mangled and such and I couldn't bring myself to chance it with my family so I threw it out!! $67.78 GONE!! Catfish was fine but I literally had to regroup, run to Walmart for Tilapia! Super disappointed! What's funny though.. on my way out the door I joked and asked... "there's no head in here right" he smiled and shook his head "no". But I DID HAVE HALF THE HEAD LESS THE EYES! I started to call but really don't think they care much about customers service, customer satisfaction, or customer reviews but KNOW THIS, I will not be back, I don't have money to loose and shouldnt have this type of nonsense when spending money with a company that's been around this long.. It's shameful on the owners part! MY $67.78 GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!! What could be done to IMPROVE LISTEN better. ANSWER questions asked!!!! PROVIDE understanding for those NOT in the fish industry. HIRE knowledgeable people that CAN speak English and know their TRADE.... TRAIN your workers!! CHECK fish for quality DONT SELL BAD FISH... END GOAL.... Don't sell bad fish!!! read more

I was searching for a market that sold Buffalo fish. I wasn't disappointed! Price was very reasonable. I bought a two pound fish and got it cut up into steak pieces . Bought the Cajun fish fry too! The owner was great. Overall good experience. I will be back again. read more

This place should honestly have a Boât load of health violations!!! I came to get fresh fish for a curry, came hungry, left angry. The fish is refrigerated but seems to be open air because of the random fly landing here and there. Tell tale sign #1 that I should have just left. But if you know fish markets, it was 6:30 on a week night. AKA everything was closing, so pickings were slim. So I figured, put up or shut up. Tell tale sign #2, the young man who helped me reached right into the fish with his BARE FREAKIN HAND! Followed no directions of which fish I wanted and kept just grabbing EVERYTHING but the dang on fish I specified. #3 almost TOOK ME TF out!! This man proceeded to I touch my debit card with his grubby little fish and prawn fingers!!!!!!swipe my card, then ask me for my dangon pin number, as if I would tell him!!!! What a lunatic! The only reason they get two measly stars from me is because they actually had a pretty decent (catfish, snapper, buffaloe, shrimp, tiger shrimp, lobster) selection. But believe me you, honey, I washed the sh** out of my purchases with lemon juice, steamingwater and prayer!! "I don't know, just regular catfish!" was the callous answer received when I inquired about their catfish selection. What is "regular catfish"? Do ya'll know? Is it a he or she? Maybe gender neutral? Do they taste better than the rest? You can't ask the guy beside you? How are you unaware of what you're serving consumers!?!? Absolutely inappropriate! The hubs is an avid fisherman but has been too busy to go lately, so on the afternoon of 7/7/18, I gave this place a try. The fish appeared, smelled, and tasted (after cooking, of course) fresh, but nothing is better than fish caught then cooked hours later like we have done for so long. Prices are fair. I paid about $35 [for buffalo and whole catfish] to feed almost 10 people. Rude, Rude, Rude! I'm not going to hold it against you Mr. Bob Davis, because you help me when I'm in a bind, but if I see that guy again, I'll ask for someone else to help me. Mikhael, what if he's solo?? I'm from south east Louisiana so finding fresh gulf seafood was an easy culinary item to pick up. However, moving to Dallas changed that for me and challenged me to source the freshest gulf shrimp in the metroplex. That's how I yelped and stumbled on Bob Davis Fish Market! I ordered 3.5 lbs of large, fresh gulf shrimp at about $12.00/lb. I couldn't be happier! Took them home and had my first seafood boil and I was impressed by the quality and how clean the shrimp were. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! I stopped in and picked up some fresh catfish and shrimp, or so I thought it would be fresh. The fish was ok ,(we didn't cook it due to the bad shrimp). But the shrimp, it was bad. Not just bad but BAD.!!! That ish was smelling up my car on the way home, but I thought maybe because I was in a fish market. Once I got home and opened up the package it lit the damn house up. Do yourself a favor and find a better spot than this. I have purchased fish and shrimp from this place for a lot of years. I am 60 years old and I have been going here for a long time, but I am looking for a new place. I noticed there was a guy who worked there that past away, maybe he was the manager or the piece of glue that held everything together. Since he has been gone this place is just going downhill, once they gave me some fish that smelt like cleaning liquid, another time the fish smelt spoiled, another time I asked for my fish to be sliced they filleted one side & left the head on, another time I got filets that still had a ton of bones, basically the little kids that work there don't know how to properly cut fish, keep a store clean, keep cleaning supplies & food separate, and don't know what the term customer service is or means. Fresh, fresh, fresh! Love the buffalo and catfish. This is the only place my mother-in-law gets her fish and I see why. Just wish they had a location much closer to me in Collin County. They were even rated by D Magazine as one of the 10 best seafood markets in Dallas. They've been around a long time, since 1950. read more

Being that my dad is an avid Fisher but lives over 14 hours away, I was elated to find some place that sold fresh perch and buffalo that wasn't too far from my house. My first trip there was fantastic. Very fresh fish. Great options. I would give it a five. But my second time there I asked for perch. He said he only had two lbs so I said no issue. I'll take what you got. I got back home and discovered he really gave me tilapia. Idk how he mixed that up when it's two obviously different fish and I was very clear asking for perch which he repeated back to me. I'm going to give it another try and see what happens. read more

This place is a "hole in wall" in best kind of way! Tiny neighborhood market in South Dallas. Not a lot of choices, but what they have is fresh, inexpensive, and quality! I will be back often! read more
