My husband visited this office over a year ago. He was told he needed a bunch of work that after getting a second opinion, was entirely unecessary. This was, of course, AFTER he paid over $1,000 to their office. They did not bill the correct insurance and my husband tried working with their office to have this corrected for MONTHS and every time he spoke with someone they had no knowledge of what he was calling about. At one point he received a call from their offices asking "do you want more fillings?". Over a year after the services we received a bill for nearly $100. We have tried calling to discuss this several times and never received a call back until today we were threatened with having the bill sent to collections and told "this is policy," I would think their policy would be to bill correctly and in a timely manner. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Davidson since he opened the Elburn office and I trust him and his staff exclusively with my dental health. I recently had some issues that caused me to need 4 crowns places on my front 4 teeth. While I was nervous about the procedure, he assured me that it needed to be done and I would be happy with the result. Well he was absolutely correct! I LOVE my new smile and I am constantly showing it off! I have never truly cared much for my smile but now, they are the best they have ever looked! Perfectly straight and bright white! Want to know how good Dr. Davidson is? After having been a regular patient of his for several years while we were Elburn residents, I still see him twice a year...and we now live in California. I've had awful dentists and I've had good ones, so I know the best when I see them - and this man is the best. Knowledgeable, capable, skilled, up-to-date...he fixes lesser dentists' screwups, explains things in simple terms without treating me like an idiot, and just does an overall bang-up job keeping my chompers in tip-top shape. He freaking CARES. I come home to IL a few times a year for the important things - hockey games, good pizza, great friends and THE very best dentist. Oh, and I'd be remiss if I left out the hygienists and the rest of the team; they're all wonderfully skilled and a joy to be around. "Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest..." I've thought about writing a review for Dr. Davidson and the rest of their staff each time I leave the office, but forget and it never happens. After my last experience, I can't wait any longer. Last night I had an emergency and after wondering what to do, we called the office for advice, thinking I wouldn't get in until morning (if we were lucky). Dr. Davidson said it was a true emergency, he came in at 10:30pm to repair my shattered teeth until well after midnight. His other family members, who also work in the office, came in too. I cannot recommend them enough. We've been going to Dr. Davidson for 2 years now. I found their office looking for a last minute appointment after a scheduling issue with another dentist. I called, the front desk told me to come in right then. It speaks to the kindness and accommodating nature of the staff and we've been patients ever since. Dr. Davidson is honest, I genuinely trust his opinion and feel he treats patients as he would his own family members. He won't recommend anything you don't need and he'll give you all the details, best and worst case scenarios. The rest of the staff is wonderful too, Dr. Davidson and the dental hygienists on staff take their time to do it the right way, encourage questions, are very gentle, and do things the way other dentists should. read more

I wanted to write this review as a warning to other potential clients. This dentist office is a scam and Dr. Robert B. Davidson PC should not be allowed to practice dentistry. I have spoken to expert dentists who all have told me to stay away from this man and his practice. Please read this. It is worth reading so you don't make a huge mistake! I called their office for a cleaning and check up after having moved to the area. Let me state I have been to the dentist every six months since I was a child and in that time have had 3 cavities so I'm pretty sure I'm in good shape. The woman who answered the phone told me they were offering a "special" for $250.00 which included two cleanings and exams with x-rays. Wow. That's a good deal......or so I thought....in reality it is a scam. When I arrived for my cleaning I noticed a lot of activity in various rooms with people getting cavities filled. At first I thought this was strange but chalked it up to just a coincidence. The hygienist was very nice and the cleaning was good. I was thinking this is a great place. That's where the scam begins. Now Davidson walks in. Davidson's demeanor was a little rough. He looked at the x-rays and said, "that looks good but X-rays really don't tell us anything". When I asked why he said basically that it is a side view of the tooth and the real action is in the crevices. I thought that was odd like then why did they take them. The next thing he asks me is, "do you grind your teeth" and when I say no he snapped back, "well how would you know you're probably asleep!". Now I'm thinking why did you ask but ok I don't want to argue with the "expert". I thought maybe he has a strange sense of humor. In retrospect I also thought it was odd that he is the first dentist not to ask basic things like how often I floss or what type of brush I use which I thought was odd but little did I know I was just about to enter the Twilight Zone. Here is the scam. Davidson uses a dye that he claims is reactive to the bacteria that causes cavities. I asked if he uses an explorer pick (like every other dentist in the world) he said, "studies show those do more harm than good because they actually push the bacteria down into the teeth". So he uses this dye. If you've ever had dye on your hands you will notice that it collects in the cracks of your hands and will be darker in the crevices. So after putting the dye on my teeth and using his "activation light" he pulls out a dental camera and starts snapping away and yelling numbers to the hygienist who is feverishly typing into the computer but oddly seems like this is a regular routine. Then he shows you the photos and everywhere there is a dark spot (ie. The dye collected) he claims it is a cavity. The darker the dye the deeper the cavity. Davidson's final assessment was I had 12 cavities and needed to remove my three existing fillings because, "they were put in improperly". Next he sends you to his assistant who presents you with a "health action plan". This runs into the thousands. When I explain I don't have dental insurance she offers me a credit card application. Now all those people in various rooms getting drilled made sense. I made an appointment with my old dentist and provided them with the "health action plan". They actually convened a meeting with 4 dentists, gave me an additional exam, took new x-rays etc. They all came to the conclusion that Robert Davidson is a con-man and is the dark side of dentistry. None of them even one who teaches dentistry to students had ever heard of the dye trick. As for my old fillings, they are shrinking a little around the perimeter but don't need to be replaced for a couple of years. They also explained what Davidson is doing by drilling into really strong enamel is weakening the tooth structure and creating even more problems down the road. Finally, almost as a joke I called Davidsons office for a refund for the unused portion of my "special offer" and was told the hard work Dr. Davidson put in would far outweigh the special they gave me. I laughed. So I basically paid $250 for a cleaning but I learned a valuable lesson. I don't want other people to fall prey to this deceptive practice. Enamel is very important and once it is gone it takes a long time to grow it back. In the meantime you have weaker teeth that create issues for cracking, bacteria, etc.! Do not go here!! Find another option!!! Don't let them drill into your healthy teeth. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bob Davidson for the last few years and up until the last few months I have been very happy with the service and kindness of the staff there. Over the last few years I have had terrible sensitivity to one of my upper back teeth, and have been dealing with this with Dr. Bob for sometime now. He has tried grinding the points of my teeth down several different times, I paid out-of-pocket $500 for a night guard mouthgard, as he told me I was PROBABLY grinding my teeth at night, I have been using Sensodyne toothpaste for two years, and have had absolutely no relief. Each time I went in for my six month check ups I made it known that I still had the same, unchanged sensitivity to that same tooth. All throughout this time, Dr. Bob and I were both on the same page about which tooth I was talking about. We were always addressing the same tooth. In February of this year, Dr. Bob and I had a conversation about how we were going to move forward to address the sensitivity I was having on this tooth. He told me that he was submitting it to insurance to get approval for a crown for that tooth to make my sensitivity improve. We had a very clear, mutually understood conversation about this at that time. I got a pretreatment estimate from insurance stating that they approved and would pay part of the bill. (I still paid around $500 for my portion.) I went in, had the procedure done, and had a temporary crown placed on the tooth until my permanent crown came in. Later that day after I had that procedure, once my numbness faded, I felt the area with my tongue and noticed that Dr. Bob had worked on a different tooth than we had originally talked about and a different tooth than I had been complaining about for the last few years. I called the office immediately, leaving a message, but unfortunately it was a Friday night so they did not call me back until Monday afternoon. I was upset the entire weekend about this. I kept going over the situation in my head multiple times trying to figure out where this all went wrong. Dr. Bob even tested my teeth before starting the procedure and clearly pointed out the tooth that had the most sensitivity. When Dr. Bob's assistant called me back Monday afternoon, She spoke to me in a manner that was taking the situation very lightly, when I was clearly very upset in my message. I started to explain the situation to her but she handed the phone off to the doctor. Dr. Bob got on the phone and seemed very angry. He was defensive and said that I was the one who was mistaken. He made me feel terrible. I've never been spoken to by a healthcare professional in the manner that he spoke to me . He made me feel stupid and incompetent. Basically at the end, he told me he would make it right and that he would "comp"me for the work he had done and to have me come in once the permanent crown came in, And that he would address the issue. I waited about two weeks and went back to have the permanent crown placed. When I was in the office that day Dr. Bob and I were not on the same page. He was not listening to me or giving me any time to talk whatsoever. I kept telling him he was not understanding what I was saying and he was speaking to me like I was a complete idiot. He did not make it right and made me feel like I had misunderstood the situation all along. He did not "comp" me for what I still believe was the wrong job, and he talked in circles, saying totally irrelevant things until I gave in and stopped fighting. I was even crying most of the time. This is not the kind of person that I want taking care of me. I am so disappointed and still so upset about this situation. I still continue to have terrible, uncomfortable sensitivity to the same tooth that was never fixed or addressed. I will not be returning to Dr. Bob's office and I do not recommend him to anyone. They handled the situation so unprofessionally and definitely did not make customer service/mitigation a priority. I will be attending a new dentist after this, and hopefully they can help me in a way Dr. Bob did not even attempted to. Update: Months after I posted this review, Dr. Davidson called me and said he would reimburse me for the work he did on me, if I agreed to take down my negative review. That's the kind of man we are dealing with here. Make your decision on who works on your mouth wisely. read more

Have been seeing Dr. Davidson for 20+ years. He's always listened to my concerns and gone the extra mile to file down a filling after the fact and even answered my after hours call once when I had a concern on a tooth. His philosophy on fix it small before it becomes big can spare your tooth. Why wait until you have a gaping cavity to fix?! Wouldn't you rather a small fix over a big fix? His opinions are his alone you can take it or leave it. No one says you have to do it. He is giving you his experienced opinion as any profession does. You can always seek a second opinion but Dr. Davidson seems to have the years of experience to give it to you straight. I appreciate the honesty he gives. He doesn't waste my time, he just points out issues and we watch and wait or we fix it as needed. read more
