There are all kinds of knickknacks scattered about, every surface in the place has seen better days and the ceiling is a bit low. Inside it was your typical small town tavern. They had a patio at the back. For happy hour they give you a pull tab. You might pay full price or as little as $0.25 for the round. They offered bottles of New Glarus Brewing, but mainly served domestic cans. We learned the business was named after the owner nicknamed Koolaid (now deceased). We also learned he passed far too young and was the nicest guy you'd ever have met. Linda (the bartender and cook) and Bruce (the bar-back and handyman) were a hoot.

My friends and I all shared fried mushrooms, mini corn dogs, chicken wings, a chicken wrap, and broccoli cheese bites. Lots of fried food on their menu, obviously, but everything was so so delicious and fairly priced in my opinion. I would recommend the route of getting a few things to share as all the fried foods come in "side" portions (not full appetizer).

I had a token and needed lunch so after a quick scan on Yelp, we decided to check out Ott Haus. And I was not disappointed. The building is cute and kinda small. It definitely had an older feel, kinda dive bar-ish but it was clean. They have bar seating, a handful of tables, and a beer garden area. It gets a little crowded pretty quickly so you may make some new friends if you share a table. The service was great and the owner was super nice. She answered questions and was very accommodating. They have New Glarus beer on tap, duh. But also domestics, cocktails, and soft drinks. I had a strawberry rhubarb beer from New Glarus and absolutely loved it. I also had a PBR which is my stand by. Based on the reviews, we had to try the cheese curds. They come with a dill ranch. They weren't greasy at all. They were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The ranch was a tasty accompaniment. Highly recommend and would order again. For my entree, I ordered the Beer Cheese Bacon Burger: 1/2 pound burger cooked medium with beer cheese and bacon on a pretzel bun. This was probably my favorite meal of my Wisconsin vacation. The burger patty was delicious and seasoned well. The pretzel bun held everything together and paired perfectly with the creamy beer cheese sauce. The bacon was an added bonus. I opted for tater tots for a side and enjoyed dipping them in that extra beer cheese. This was seriously one of the best burgers I've eaten in a looooong time. It's probably good that I live 500 miles away because my waist line and wallet would take a beating. I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a drink and food. I will be back the next time I'm in town.
