I enjoyed the food - really good. Unfortunately, the service was not so good. The staff was very slow and they didn't know anything about the menu. Went here on the recommendation of friends only to find out that the cover charge for our of town folks is FOUR TIMES what it is for locals (locals is $5 and out of towners us $20. I really hate to do this to this place. I had an awesome time and couldn't wait to come back down to go to this place. Ladies sign a waiver and pay $10 or something like that. I was given lots of attention, almost too much, and really had a great great time. The trouble is, I get home a few days later to see that my credit card had been charged for a very large transaction I did not make, in addition to the one I did. So disappointing. I'm definitely disputing with my credit card company but I spoke to management and they told me whomever forged it "did a very good job." Okay. Maybe this spot doesn't deserve a full 4 stars, more like a 3.5... But, I feel like I will even things out. I've read a lot of negative reviews about this spot... I've only been here 1x . I had a good time when I went. The crowd is mixed. I saw a handful of very young people, and some guys looked like they were in their mid 60's.... There is a teeny tiny VIP area. The guys that were in the VIP area the evening I went, were dressed very weird. They were wearing fringy pink & yellow leather. The guys were very flashy., and 1 of them resembled Stephen Baldwin. I think they thought they were a big deal, and maybe they are. What do I know, I live out of state. I went on a Wednesday night. I was asked to sign a waiver, that some of the other female reviewers mention. I do think that is VERY strange, and I've never had to do anything like that before, and Ive been to bars like this across the USA. I also was charged a higher cover charge than my male friend. It sucks 4 me, but I'm not necessarily offended by either the waiver or cover charge. Females are not their target audience. It's primarily a gay bar for gay men. So, maybe the bar does these things to keep the male and female ratio in check. There are several bars that charge men an entrance fee and women get in for free. This is kinda the same thing, but reverse.. I didn't mind the cover charge, because drinks were .75 cents.. I arrived around 11:15.. But, I believe the drink special is from 9pm-midnight.... I've never paid so little for a drink. .75 cents.... Even with a $10. cover fee, you make up for it, because the drinks are practically free... The bartenders are going to be very busy when drinks are so cheap. I had to wait a few minutes, but they never ignored me. I was able to get a few rounds at .75 cents. Afterwards, I think the drinks were $7.00, which is also kinda cheap... I think the bartenders were nice and quick.. The night I was there, I saw about 15 dancers. The guys rotate around to different stages. Which makes sense, because some customers only stay in one spot. Every Wednesday they have a "Fresh Meat" contest. The contest is hosted by a drag queen. Most of the contestants were from South America. One of the regular dancers had to translate for the contestants during the interview part of the contest. The drag queen was very funny, during the interview part.. The fresh meat guys give it all the got... And, it's a fun show to watch.... I think the prize is $150.. Not bad for 4 minutes of dancing. Anyway, I know this is a long review. I think there is a potential to have a good time here. I had a great time. A buddy and I went. There was a $5 cover which is odd for Wilton Manor, but for strippers I agreed. The place was tiny and pretty much a circle. Drinks were good. The dancers were way better and attractive than Johnny's but they paid us no attention. The dancers gave all their attention to old white men and friends of theirs that were in the place. Very disappointed and I had mad sure I bought plenty of money to tip. Most of the dancers had no rhythm what so ever. Not sure why they were playing awful music to dance to anyway. I also wished the dancers had better clothes to perform in...just underwear and a few g strings were it! No costumes. No jockstraps. No leather. Nothing happening at Boardwalk! I stopped in early Sunday evening and found about six men sitting around the bar. There was a time when you'd see a "hunky" bartender; not anymore. And the dancers? I can't begin to say how bad this place has become over the years. I was there last night and if the dancers weren't dancing they were on their phones. Or just standing there. Or asking for a cigarette. Or talking to each other about the customers. Or counting their ones. Or just giving attitude. This one guy, David everyone called him, came up to us and within 15 seconds told us in not so many words "learn how to tip!" I was appalled! We probably dropped $400-$500 every time we went there. When I asked my server if the alcohol in the Jack Daniels sauce was cooked out it was for a very good reason. My 2 YEAR SOBRIETY was compromised last night. I went on July 2 to check out this bar where I haven't visited in over a year. I'm a local, & I was pleasantly surprised on how much fun this place was. The bartenders & the dancers were very cute & attentive. There were dancers from many countries (mostly Latin America) of all types, from very muscular to slight & twinky. Everyone I met was nice & friendly. They do push the private dances, but leave you alone if you decline. This is a great place to have a good time & see lots of cute guys. Bring your $, & have fun chatting with & touching the cute guys. Oh, & unlike some of the other reviews here, I did not have any problem with the lady at the front desk. Be sure to watch your credit card charges the day after going to this place. Was tired the first night I went and mistakenly did not close out my card. Went back the next day and a very snotty manager gave me nothing but attitude when I asked for my card. Then they charged me twice for two drinks and attempted a third. why do i have to pay $20 to the club to get a lap dance? that shit isn't fair it use to be nothing just pay $20 to the stripper directly and you got yourself a lap dance and can go up in price yourself. FOR $10 you get a hotel room for much more time. After spending a fair amount of money at their outdoor restaurant (nothing special by the way), I attempted to go inside the bar, only to be met by THE BLAIR WITCH. She was vulgar and extremely rude to me ,which is surprising ,since I am the paying customer. At this point, I felt no need to subject myself to going in this establishment. I live in FTL part time and used to join friends and neighbors at BW regularly. Sadly, in my opinion, one of a Fort Lauderdale's fun go-to destinations for locals, part timers and visitors, Boardwalk Bar, has instituted a terrible marketing decision to upcharge part timers and visitors by almost double for not having a local state (FL) ID. For the same cover charged to non permanent locals, one can either drive 25 minutes to Miami for a much more upscale "performance venue" or get 3-4 additional drinks at the less smoky Le Boy down the road. Of course, a Rumors gives free VIP cards for specials, and The Manor seems to appeal to my guests when I tour guide. Hope the $20 visitor fee offsets the loss of business. Maybe they'll advertise when they've dropped this stupid discriminatory practice. read more

Here's why Boardwalk works ... the food is surprisingly good. Don't dismiss it as a bar with bar food. The restaurant serves some amazingly great dishes. Also, we were warmly greeted and given great advice by their GM Sam. The folks inside had great personalities, too. This is a deplorable place. At night it's called "Boardwalk" - a male/gay strip club. They overcharge for entry. Treat women horrible and in a discriminatory manner when entering - $80 for 4 people to enter and it takes 10 minutes and women have to sign paperwork. They OVERCHARGE for drinks - ridiculous prices. 2 drinks, 2 shots, and a water for $52?! The bartender on the back patio was incredibly rude and inappropriate, I think his name was Jason. They work hard to get your money and try to work you over. But they don't mean it and have zero customer service. They don't treat you like customers or like they want your business. Do the best thing for yourself - go somewhere else. This establishment has no concept of customer service or how to serve drinks. One bartender (back patio) didn't even know what a Moscow mule was - and then gave attitude like he didn't care that he didn't know. Again, skip this place. read more

DEFINITELY KEEP AWAY What a difference a year can make. Boardwalk use to be a great place with nice (although sometimes aggressive) dancers. I used to come back and hang out with some of the dancers that I became friendly with. Now, drinks are expensive - $7 for a bottled water. Some of the boys will be friendly with you and work for $1s gently placed into their briefs, but the majority just ask if you want a lapdance, which obviously is where they make their money. Those are the ones who walk away immediately if you say no. I went for a lapdance without asking for the price. BIG MISTAKE as I was told after that I had 3 songs at $30 a song!!! And yes, the lapdances are in a semi-private room with other dancers and a room moderator. The experience was very dissapointing, an unfortunately Boardwalk and Johnny's have both gone downhill. This place is a criminal operation. A person named Hernan took my credit card and then immediately lied about taking it. When the manager named John came to help figure out what happened he said they review the video camera logs and determined I never gave him my credit card. I disagreed, asked for the first and last name of the person I did a transaction with on the premises whereupon I was summarily ejected. The owner Victor came out and when I told him what happened he claimed he didn't know the last name of the person in question.
