For a place in Wilton which is supposed to be LGBT friendly I couldn't have felt less accepted. Me (a woman) and 2 of my girlfriends went here to have a fun night - consider 2 of us are queer and love queer spaces because of their accepting energy. We show up to the front, and they tell us that in order to get in we need to have men with us. At first, I thought they were joking. We went in expecting it to be a joke and were immediately turned away by the guy at the front he looked at us almost with disgust. We then go outside and find men to come in with us - the bouncer asked them if they knew us and unfortunately, they said no - so he told us to leave. We then made friends with more men outside and they were excited to help us get in. When we get to the front - money ready - this horrible front desk man started yelling "THIS IS NOT GOING TO WORK" and then called for security saying, "GET THESE WOMEN OFF OF THE PREMISES". We were not aggressive, all we had done was offer our money to get in, we weren't mean, there was no reason to call security on us and embarrass us. This experience made my friends and I feel really upset and depressed, it is depressing that just because we are women we are made to feel uncomfortable in straight spaces and not allowed in gay spaces. In a place I thought would be one that is supposed to accept everyone I couldn't believe how we were treated and this experience will stick with me for a long time. I am glad I am not a young impressionable person newly accepting that I am LGBT and then encountering this thinking that this is how the gay community treats women. Every other place we were accepted with open arms, we danced and had a great time. I am disgusted with this place and the front desk man. I swear he looked at us with DISGUST for being women. My wife and I visited Johnson's last night for my birthday and we had a blast. The $10 Door Charge for guys and $20 Door Charge for gals was a surprise but tolerable as we got a big kick out of it and the doorman. Bartender - Alex - was attentive, friendly and hot as a pistol! (Nice back work, BTW!) The energy of the entire club was off the charts. The dancers were buff, flirtatious and smokin' hot. And my wife and I took turns placing our tips for the men "just so". Other patrons were free with touches, strokes and subtle massage to enhance my enjoyment. More than once I was complimented on how great my legs looked. What an incredible speakeasy bar with such a "buffet" of an assortment of hot male dancers and the best music. But the highlight was the sexiest bartender I've ever seen, Alex. He's so talented and personable. He gave me the first class treatment (like I witnessed him do to all the patrons) even though he was so busy. I almost got exhausted just by looking at Alex making those drinks in record speed (and believe me, tastes great). I will be back bc it's a great place with great energy but mostly for Alex. If you are not a cis gay male- BEWARE! I was very disappointed. A group of us went during pride festival, post parade. There was 2 men and then 5 women in our group. They would not let us in because we did not have enough men. I was shocked! I understand it's a rule for them but it's pride and we should be celebrating inclusivity considering we all have faced discrimination as being gay! We ended up getting in because we talked to the owner but at first he was reluctant to let us in. Im hindsight, I had wish we just walked away rather than give them out money but there were a couples people in the group who wanted to go! One comment form the manager that stuck to me is that they go by gender on the ID card. Such a disgrace! Being part of LGBTQ+ community, it is ignorant to take the gender on an ID As be all and end all! People transition in all different stages, people identify as non binary, I could go on and on... it really is sad. I hope the manager sees this post and reconsiders how he runs his business, reconsiders how he evaluated who is allowed in. The purpose of this review at this time is more geared toward putting Johnsons on the Yelp map than anything else. I was there right after it opened, saw some of their scantily clad rather attractive male dancers, all of whom were obviously in dire need of professional dance training, but serving their primary purpose of appealing to gay prurient interests. As I was only there once and somewhat before those "just opened" business bugs were resolved, I'm not going to go in to much detail. I'll just say that overall Johnsons is what most would term a gay male strip bar, much on the same order as Boardwalk and to some extent Le Boy except with more mature less twinky chicken types as dancers. The moving forces behind Johnsons are rumored to be the same folks that had brought us Swinging Richards which was in North Miami and later in Pompano. The big difference is, of course, there is no full nudity here in order to be compliant with local laws. The hours are generally 6:00 PM until 2:00 AM Wednesday through Sunday, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. There is generally a cover charge which seems to vary between $5 and $10 dollars depending upon the time you enter and upon scheduled events. Though sometimes advertised as a "Speakeasy Lounge" the emphasis is definitely towards it what they term "Live Male Entertainment." For weekly details and updates, I'd suggest checking out their ad in HotSpots!. The facility has parking but its parking area is super small so generally of little customer value, and as we all know, parking along the Drive in Wilton is a total and often costly nightmare. read more

As others have mentioned, Johnsons is brought to us by the same owner that had Swinging Richards, a fully nude male strip club first located in Aventura, then later moved to Pompano before shutting down years ago. They've now opened this bar, called Johnsons, located in the former PJ's building on Wilton drive. Due to legal restrictions, Johnsons doesn't offer full nudity. We arrived here at around 10 on a recent Friday night and stayed for a few rounds. The "crowd" was relatively small..Indeed, the amount of dancers seemed to outnumber the patrons and most tables in the section with the stage were empty. One arrives here, pays a $10 cover to enter and is entertained by 2 or 3 dancers at a time who get up on stage and work the pole. They arrive on stage clothed, then over the course of a few songs they peel off layers, stripping down to their underwear or shorts. 2 upsides to this place: 1) They seem to have a good variety of dancers, from younger/smaller "twinks", up to larger bulked up guys who obviously spend lots of time in the gym. 2) The drink prices are reasonable. A mixed drink is something like $4 or $5 and they're served in pint beer glasses! For me, the original Swinging Richard's location in Aventura has still never been equaled or bested, though a few places have tried. As a bar, Johnsons is decent, with a long bar on one side and the stage in a separate section on the other, but when compared to Swinging Richard's, it's just too vanilla, yet charges the same cover. Unless I'm with a group who really wants to come here, I doubt I'll return. read more

This club is in an excellent location and created a safe space for the best pole dancers in Florida at an all male establishment. If you see Jace Maverix there you are in for a treat and Yankiel is a spectacular dancer and bar tender. This club has strict rules as to who may perform and the DJs actually consider what the dancers want which enhances performances. The man in charge is fair to his staff and one time when I lost my phone there it was actually returned to me the following day! All dancers pay to be able to perform at the clubs so please remember to tip them and don't be afraid to spark conversations with them. Some may not be the right fit, but I know based on experience that there's a great guy there that loves being able to share his time with you. read more

I've been coming to this place since they opened and had always had a great time . The last few times I have been there not so much ! I have not seen the owner around so maybe that's why . The dancers hang out with their usual clients to chat with etc and obviously they tip them well , which I understand to a point . Then when it's their turn on stage they get mad if you don't tip them and then even if you do they don't come over and talk with you ! They are on their phones or talking with other dancers . The Gaiety had Denise who hand selected the guys who danced and she made sure the meat was extra big. She also featured one dancer at a time. That way the audience could focus on one and it made that dancer more desirable. The DJ had a voice that would make you swoon. Friday and Saturday had the marathon shows and every week a featured porn star. LA dancers are fun, friendly and all the clubs out fit them in great g-strings and jocks. Matching. More consistent. The music is loud and the guys know how to dance. Canada. The guys are naked. And sexy. The late great Swinging Richards may have been bright but the guys again, naked. NY go go dancers are rough, raunchy and GAY. They dance for those tips! And they are gayyyyyyyyyyy. Johnsons I feel has taken a dive. Too many men on stage at once. No individual focus. No real dancing, plenty of pull ups on the rafters and swing around the pole. No consistency in what they wear so it is very off the street. How is it that LA and Chicago clubs can outfit the dancers nightly but here you might get a g-string a jock or a full length boxer brief. The dancers are more straight than gay., Many ignored as they just stand there, The place could kill it with some tweaks. How are the bartenders and valet hooter than the men on stage. Went to Johnsons when I was down in Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend. Let me tell ya, well it was fun! The main reason we went in was to get a break from the heat during the Pride Parade. Several times we came up to the bar and they served us very delicious drinks for cheap! We got two vodka and red bulls and it was only $12. This is a great price because most the time you have pay a lot more for higher end vodka and red bull! The wait staff was super friendly inside. A couple of other nice things. One they use paper straws. This means they are environmentally friendly! At night they do have some adult entertainment, but we left well before this started up. They did have a nice big room where the entertainment takes place and a lot of mirrors. Like I said before we left well before this kicked off! I went to Johnson's Fort Lauderdale yesterday for Pride and I was underwhelmed at the rude service from the guy at the front door. Please train your door staff on how to interact with customers. He was rude and very homophobic. I'm sharing my extremely unpleasant experience and electing not to recommend Johnsons. Regardless of the situation, Johnsons had someone who my friend and I concur were clearly homophobic at the front door during Pride. We decided not to return to Johnsons and had a great time at Boardwalk. Perhaps Johnsons can take a page out of Boardwalk's book on how to treat customers because we were warmly greeted at Boardwalk. read more

BEWARE!!! We were there on sat, sitting and drinking at a table when this African American dancer named Tori walked by and asked my friend if he wanted a dance. My friend said no thank you. Tori then rolled his eyes and got up and as he was doing it he took the piles of $1 that we had on our tables and put it in his underwear. We went and told the door guy and they didn't do anything. They kept asking us if we are sure he did that, it was only $20 worth of $1 but still annoying. Always fun but If you're looking for real gay dancers you are in the wrong place. 1 out of 10 dancers are gay. The plethora of straight men walk around the stage as if it's a canned food drive expecting donations... but instead of cans it's one dollar bills. You could go to anywhere with a pool and get the same experience without the expectation of money or paying a cover. Also at the end of the night I waited 10 minutes for a drink with an empty bar because the bartenders were adjusting their tips. Not really my kind of place, but for 'this kind of place,' it seems to be really popular. And the size of the crowd on the Saturday night during which we stopped-in spoke to it's popularity: full bar area and full show room. All tables occupied everywhere. I wouldn't have expected that at all. (Guess that's why I'm not a small business owner.) And the $10 cover for a Saturday night was a fair price for South Florida. Most important thing to know is that the dancers at 'Johnsons' do NOT perform all the way naked. Not allowed in Broward County, either for men or for women. For the most part - at least on the night that I was there - guys were going down to Hugo Boss sexy underwear and similar things. It wasn't just ratty, green neon thongs with dirty high top sneakers. Although, there was one guy who never took off his his jeans during the entire time that he was on stage. Interesting choice for a 'strip club,' but, whatever. The dancers performed with, how shall I say, 'varying degrees of both skill and interest.' Some guys moved very well, very sexy and really tried to engage the audience. Others just kinda stood there and bounced back and forth while tugging on their underwear. But, in all fairness, they're not really there to 'dance,' are they...??? Seems as if the big visual gimmick at this place is for the dancers to grab onto the ceiling framework above the stage and hang upside down and do pull ups and presses and stuff. Hey, if you've got the muscles to do it - go right ahead. It's a show. In general, a good variety of guys. Some were overly muscled, some were slighter of build, a few regular looking guys - you get the idea. All stage-worthy, though. I was glad to see that once the guys exited the stage to 'work the audience' for lap dances they weren't overly aggressive about it. When we said, 'Maybe later,' to the guys who stopped at our table, they smiled and moved on. That approach was much appreciated. Lots of work on the inside to turn the former bar into 'a gentlemen's club' with a lighted stage and a brass pole. It's not luxurious or high end, but it more than gets the job done for a gay strip club. Still looks like utter and complete Hell on the outside, though. Maybe they can work on that a bit, at some point. As I said right up front, this isn't really my kinda place. But if this is your kind of place, then you should give Johnsons a try.
