Not really my kind of place, but for 'this kind of place,' it seems to be really popular. And the size of the crowd on the Saturday night during which we stopped-in spoke to it's popularity: full bar area and full show room. All tables occupied everywhere. I wouldn't have expected that at all. (Guess that's why I'm not a small business owner.) And the $10 cover for a Saturday night was a fair price for South Florida. Most important thing to know is that the dancers at 'Johnsons' do NOT perform all the way naked. Not allowed in Broward County, either for men or for women. For the most part - at least on the night that I was there - guys were going down to Hugo Boss sexy underwear and similar things. It wasn't just ratty, green neon thongs with dirty high top sneakers. Although, there was one guy who never took off his his jeans during the entire time that he was on stage. Interesting choice for a 'strip club,' but, whatever. The dancers performed with, how shall I say, 'varying degrees of both skill and interest.' Some guys moved very well, very sexy and really tried to engage the audience. Others just kinda stood there and bounced back and forth while tugging on their underwear. But, in all fairness, they're not really there to 'dance,' are they...??? Seems as if the big visual gimmick at this place is for the dancers to grab onto the ceiling framework above the stage and hang upside down and do pull ups and presses and stuff. Hey, if you've got the muscles to do it - go right ahead. It's a show. In general, a good variety of guys. Some were overly muscled, some were slighter of build, a few regular looking guys - you get the idea. All stage-worthy, though. I was glad to see that once the guys exited the stage to 'work the audience' for lap dances they weren't overly aggressive about it. When we said, 'Maybe later,' to the guys who stopped at our table, they smiled and moved on. That approach was much appreciated. Lots of work on the inside to turn the former bar into 'a gentlemen's club' with a lighted stage and a brass pole. It's not luxurious or high end, but it more than gets the job done for a gay strip club. Still looks like utter and complete Hell on the outside, though. Maybe they can work on that a bit, at some point. As I said right up front, this isn't really my kinda place. But if this is your kind of place, then you should give Johnsons a try. This place is not queer friendly and welcoming of all different identities of patrons in our community. On several occasions I have been asked to pay more if I'm wearing makeup in drag or genderfuck, which is ridiculous. Last night, an employee with long hair kept telling us we could not act femme when we were celebrating the dancers and threatened to call security to have us removed. Mind you, not only were we one of the only groups tipping, but we were actually encouraging the performances and all-around well behaved. We asked him to bring us the manager if it was really an issue since there are no rules posted at the establishment... and he either never told his manager or his manager did not want to address us directly. First off that's extremely sexist considering Wilton Manors should be a LGBTQ town and not just GAY. Very sexist. Anyway, we found a few guys who were willing to go in with us. We had a great time here on Thursday (they didn't enforce their rules, which their owner said they should have), but got turned away tonight because we were a group 2 queer women, 1 gay man, and 2 non binary folks. We didn't have enough men. They go by what's on your drivers license. They were exclusionary, transphobic, and straight up rude. We have been going to Johnsons every year during our winter vacays in Wilton Manors and have had a great time. Great drinks, great guys, fun crowd. We tip the performers generously while on stage and have had a few fun lap dances. All drink prices are reasonable compared to the OVER.. OVER.. Classy affair with a great catering company "Ultimate Cuisine" severing delish bites catered with two very pleasant servers who made sure everyone was being served. Also enjoy CAKE delish! sometime you go places and you think you won't really enjoy it that much. Maybe you think the people are too attractive to actually be nice. That is NOT the case at Johnsons. It starts as you approach the door from the parking lot. An incredibly handsome, shirtless man greets you politely and invites you to have fun. Equally as handsome and shirtless bartender is warm, welcoming and offers great conversation. The dancers were never over obtrusive and certainly added appeal to the atmosphere. Add all that to the fact that people at the bar actually chatted with you as well. So in this person's opinion Johnson's is not a place to avoid, be afraid of or anything else. I enjoy this bar tremendously for a variety of reasons. However, I'm writing this review about one downside: the decibel level of the music. It's over the top. People want to talk to one another, not scream at one another. The decibel level at the newly remodeled Boardwalk is much better. Nice strips club to go to with one exception. The air freshener or incense or whatever they use right inside the door makes the place smell like a funeral home. If you can get past that smell (really they should change it), then it's a good place. Drinks are pretty good too. read more

Don't know where some of these reviews are coming from, especially the one who said it wasn't crowded on Tuesday night. I guess it wasn't crowded seeing as it isn't open on Monday or Tuesday. This place is probably one of the nicest and cleanest bars in the city. It certainly is the best gay male strip bar in town. The owner, bartenders and dancers are all friendly and want everyone to enjoy themselves. Anyone that has been removed or hasn't had a good time is due to their own behavior and not a reflection on the business. The drinks are large and cheap compared to most places on the drive. As they say in the mutual funds business,  'past performance is not an indicator of future outcomes. . . ' But my visit here on what should have been a deadly Tuesday night was very entertaining. Now granted I only visit a stripper bar about once a year, but we found six or so dancers on hand with a variety of body types. Some were very pretty muscle boy types. All of them took the stage for three songs at a time. They all showed real talent one way or another and a few are plainly studied legit dancers with incredible limber bodies who put a real effort into their presentations. All were strikingly food looking. Most of them know why the brass pole is there and use it to greater or lesser degree. Maybe it was because it was a slow night but all of the dancers were very congenial and not just because they were trying to get me into a VIP lap dance room. I could go on but if gay boy stripper bar entertainment is your thing this is a place you gotta visit. You won't go away unhappy. read more

This is hands down the WORST strip club I've ever been to. My fired convinced us to come here, paid our covers and was harassed by Jason, on of the waiters. He asked him if he was a retard & if he was socially inept and if he was slow since my friend accidentally say at a bottle service table that was not marked reserved. It was ridiculous as hell. One of the owners, Chris, came over and completely muscled my friend our of the club and told him that he was making trouble without listening to the situation and then he told him that he was going to call the police on him which is completely in accurate. We brought a group of 10 people there and when we asked for our cover back they said that we were In there for hours. We were in the for 45 MINUTES. what a waste of our time and money. If you want to go to a male strip club, head to La Barre. This place isn't worth your time, money or a 10$ cover. It's not classy enough. read more
