Plus, his idea of helping in the garden was to undo everything he saw me doing. I was next to tears and thinking I was a bad dog owner when friends suggested doggy daycare. A Google search brought me to Dogtropolis only 7 minutes away from our home! Connie, the owner, obviously knows how to run a tight ship. There are thoughtfully placed gates and holding areas that insure the dogs are kept safe. Laminated cards keep track of the regulars' needs. And I wish my house smelled as clean as Dogtropolis. Most of all, Buddy is getting the exercise and socialization that he needs. After a day of playing with his four legged friends, he is content to lay on the patio while we enjoy dinner. I am delighted with Dogtropolis and Buddy loves them. A tired dog is a trainable dog.

This review is simply off the price gouging that is occurring at Carrollton Animal Hospital as they…read moreare the only veterinary clinic now in Carrollton. My dog needs a monthly prescription medication that is $50 through Carrollton Animal Hospital. This same medicine was $20-$25 at Thompson Animal Hospital, Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, Minerva Veterinary Clinic, and others. In an attempt to keep my business local, I tried to fulfill my order through Chewy/1800 pet meds and this was also denied by Carrollton Animal Hospital. They refuse to work with outside pharmacies; however, everyone one of the above listed clinics said they would work with these outside/online pharmacies. I requested to get a written prescription so that I was able to do the leg work required myself and order the medication. Again this was also denied. This is against the American Veterinary Medical Association policies as shown below, and per the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board this is not required but poor practice to deny a request. When presented with all of this information, the response was "you are welcome to go to Lisbon" If you choice Carrollton Animal Hospital you are required to get any and all prescription medications through their office, regardless of the price. https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/animal-health-and-welfare/animal-health/pharmacy/prescriptions-and-pharmacies-faq-pet-owner

Also recommended I have the mass removed. I did just that since he is my baby. I was told I'd get the results from the biopsy in 72 hours. A week later I had to call and ask for the results. Much to my relief I was told it was a chronic mass of dermatitis. Worry gone....so I thought. Less than a month later my dog stopped eating and throwing up. Take him back only to be informed that my dog had terminal liver cancer and only had weeks to live. How do you miss terminal liver cancer?? My dog did NOT go from gonna live till an old age to terminal liver cancer in 3 weeks!!!!! Over $2000 in surgery to remove a mass and biopsy's only to have him be put to sleep less than a month after the surgery. Such a sham and shame on the vets. Never take your furry family members here!!! **Only gave them one star cause I couldn't leave review without leaving a star**

The receptionist said she didn't have any openings that day, but would call me if there was a cancel. Sure enough, they called that same day. I was so impressed with the staff and the routine for recording a new patient. They were so sweet and friendly. Dr. Jeff Shields recognized the polyp and froze it, then sniped it off. My dog was calm and seemed to be in love with him and everyone else there. Dr. Shields was kind, explained everything, including his views on care of teeth, and gave me good information about the Westie breed. This is my 3rd Westie in 35 years, so we were able to agree on everything. He is incredibly well informed! The cost for the visit was very affordable, and being retired for 20 years, I am grateful for that! All in all, I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a compassionate and competent veterinarian. Kudos to them!!

The interior facility looked nice, i would have gladly paid the additional cost for a big private area for them, but only general pupulstion was available. I was hesitant from the get go leaving my dogs here, the conditions looked like a puppy mill, but i was told that they have a vet onsite and that the conditions would be fine, lots of other dogs, etc, etc, etc.. well, with little other choice they were left. The staff is actually amazing. Everyone was helpful and nice, probably the best dog-sitters from a compassionate point of view. Unfortunately, much like multiple other reviews listed here, our dogs came home hurt, two had kennel cough, another had some form of bacterial infection and was on some form of medication for almost 3 months. I think the staff is wonderful to your pets, but the place must be filthy. I really wanted to like this place, as the staff was far better than the pet palace, but my dogs come back safe from pet palace and financially the pet palace is actually cheaper. Would have liked to have reviewed this with more stars, as they did help me out of a bind, but all said and done, i could have just taken them all with me. 1 extra star for the good kids working there.

Pre-covid, they would use gabapentin to sedate her. After Covid, they would not even take her and we had to go elsewhere. I was finally able to return here with her because I was always satisfied with her services. But... the last couple of visits were challenging in that my cat was becoming more agitated and harder to handle. The last appointment was senior blood panel, exam, and groom. She came home and was limping pretty badly and not engaging like she used to. 3 weeks later, my cat is gone. I don't think she received the quality of care that she used to. I can't say what happened during that office visit as I'm not back there, but I think she was not handled very gently and actually quite roughly to be honest. Pet care is not cheap and it's no wonder there are so many needing homes. But this hurts because I don't think the care is adding up. Medicine is not the new marketing. Sadly I won't be getting another pet for quite some time.
