I met the owner of Serafina Training and Boarding when she taught the puppy kindergarten classes that my little one attended at Pet People. She is a wonderful person who really knows dogs. The boarding is at her home. When we got there to drop her off, the owner already had a bed ready for her, chosen next to another high energy puppy that she quickly became good friends with. Being extremely type A, I texted/called the owner daily to check in on her. The owner was always very gracious and updated me on how she was doing and how well she was eating/sleeping. I never had to worry about her safety or happiness. The truest testament to how wonderful the place was is that the second time I had to drop my little one off, her tail was wagging as she bounced into her bed. Upon speaking with staff, I was notified that they would not be boarding my dog because he had not completed a "Temperament Test" and because he was not neutered. The temperament test was NEVER disclosed to me during my phone call to book, nor was it reminded or mentioned when I received a text to confirm his booking over a week ago. Had I been notified at any point within the last two months i would have made other arrangements as my pet is also NOT NEUTERED. So here I am, the day before I leave for a 9 day 1,600 mile, $4K vacation and being told GOOD LUCK BY HATTIES! Thankfully a family member can help us out and ill be saving nearly $500 but that isn't NEARLY the point. The point is you had MANY opportunities to remind YOUR CLIENT of your requirements. NO notice of temp test or neuter mandate during our phone call, NO reminders when I got the confirmation text, NO email reminders. (Which is funny considering i get 5 emails a month directly from "Hattie Larlham"). I understand and would have gladly complied with a temperament test had I known one needed to be performed. I also would have said NO THANK YOU TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN I CALLED if the lady scheduling my booking even bothered to ask if my 2 year old male King Charles Cavalier was neutered. She is skittish in a new environment so I think she probably did show aggression initially if she was just thrown in with other dogs. My guess is this is what happened instead of acclimating her to her environment. The woman who called also said initially that my dog was fine with humans but then stated she was concerned for the safety of her staff with my dog there. I will never recommend this place
