I don't even remember how I found this…read moreplace, but as my father (almost 80) is a glass blower by trade and profession I thought he would enjoy checking it out while he was visiting from NC. We drove a little over an hour from NY a couple of weeks ago to see some of their workshops in action (available to see between 2pm and 5pm on weekends), as well as to visit their retail shop. The woman in the store was very friendly and gave us a map and information about where to go to see the workshops that were ongoing that weekend. We were able to see the blacksmithing and textile spaces and they are very impressive. We had a very quick tour of the blacksmithing area and heard a little about the workshop coming up later this year for teens (ages 13 to 17) before heading to the textile area, which was a little more remote. We had to drive over a mile on a dirt road with lots of pot holes. It just added to the appeal, being out in the middle of nowhere. The coordinator of the textile program (I can't remember his name) was so friendly and informative. He told us a lot about the program as well as the history of the organization (50+ years in this location). He showed us some panels on the wall that provided some information on a sister property that is being built just over the border in PA, and will open a lot more doors for them and what they can offer. The facilities he oversees includes 10+ looms and spinning wheels. After our tour we returned to the retail store. Yes, many of the items in the shop are pricey, but if you appreciate real craftsmanship you will understand it is worth supporting the artists who create items of this quality. Some of these specialties are lost arts. Growing up with my father and regularly attending art shows I understand the time and effort that goes into all of these handcrafted products. If you visit their website you will see all of the amazing workshops they offer. They also offer rustic accommodations to stay in for the duration of your workshop if you choose, as well as providing fresh made meals each day as part of your workshop cost. I would love to participate in one of their workshops some day. I wish I had taken some photos, but I will be back and will try and do so then. I didn't realize how beautiful the area would be. Would love to return for a morning of hiking before visiting this school again. Wish them so much success!

The local stores next to her use her fabrics and have sewing done thru her and they all say shes nice. Who knew about this place. She does embroidering on her fancy new machine for pillows etc what ever you want. who knew. when you have a serger it is hard to find needles and people who fix things etc she even printed me out a manual a $35.00 cost usually, which I dint get with mine as it was a used one a friend gave it to me. She did this for free as she is a nice person and very helpful.

We enrolled our daughter in classes after reading so many wonderful reviews about this school. We…read morewere excited to meet the staff and see what our daughter would be doing, as we had in other schools that she had been in. After being delayed for 4 weeks due to construction, and then being told the week before the school had actually moved, we arrived to a new building with no little to no parking and no signs saying where the school was. When we finally found it, we were greeted with a mask mandate that wasn't communicated, and a room that was a quarter of the size of their old space. These things we could deal with. It was what followed that completely soured our opinion of the school. The man at the entrance simply told about the masking and then told us that we could leave and didn't have to stick around. While he was polite, we were confused. In other schools, we more than welcome to wait and watch our daughter enjoy her class. When we told him we wanted to wait, he got annoyed and immediately got the owner. When she approached us she explained that they don't allow the parents to wait and that we should use this as "free time" and that we could come back five minutes before class ended to watch. She then basically pushed us out of the building. This wasn't communicated before hand, so our daughter was upset by this. Once we assured her we were just outside, we left to find other parents waiting in the parking lot just as confused and irritated as us. One parent went back in to complain, and instead of being gracious and helping we later heard the headmistress aggressively complaining to her staff about the parent, fully in front of the children they were supposed to be teaching. When we went back to watch, the instructors were already cleaning up and the headmistress had to tell the instructor to go back and show us what they had taught our daughter. We were greeted with a 5 minute stretching session that showed us nothing that our daughter didn't already know before going into the class. Between this all this, the complete lack of communication on the staff's part and the fact that the classes are 30 minutes long, which is half the time other dance studios are offering at twice the price, this studio does not hold its value at all.

It's such a local gem. The price is so reasonable if you think of the amount of lights they power…read morefor the season. They definitely add more decorations each year. Some of them could use a cleaning or a bulb change but I'm sure it's a lot of things to cover in and some will go unnoticed. It's a beautiful light show and easy to get to.
