There was 5 attractions and they were all amazing! We went on the Sunday before Halloween and it was pretty dead which I loved honestly because me and my fiance got to enter all the attractions just us! I am unsure if they do that on a busier night but they did it this night which I really liked. They have three food trucks the food was okay, we got loaded cheese fries for 11.50 from the one truck barley had a bacon on them, but fries themselves were just frozen fries nothing amazing. However all the workers from the cross guard guy to the people working the booths were all super nice!! I would differently go back

So I want to start by saying that Kate was an amazing and fun guide. I enjoyed listening to her and…read moreshe really did try hard to make the experience worth it. Additionally, the other woman working behind the desk was nice, knowledgeable and made us feel welcome while waiting for our tour. Guide aside, the tour itself is done in the dark, with the tour guide holding a flashlight that they zoom in and out for effect (ouch my eyes) just like in a B rated movie for cinematic effect. The 'museum' is in a maze like room with maybe one out of every 5-10 objects actually having any energy and that is probably being generous. The items we were able to see and hear about were interesting and neat to see, but we could have read about them in a lit room just as easily and enjoyed the experience a bit more. If we would have driven to Gettysburg just for the museum I would have been severely disappointed, however just at the end of the day as a final stop before leaving it wasn't a total flop.

I can not say enough good things about this historical society. We did not even know there was an…read morehistorical society in town, but as we are history buffs, when we saw the sign we decided to stop in and I am so very glad we did. I had a bit of a hard time opening the door - seems it sticks - but the sign said it was open, and when someone inside heard me trying to get in, they opened the door for me. If you go, and the door sticks, give it a good strong push! We were given a lovely the tour of the building where we learned about the history of the town and the building as well as about their genealogy archives. If you are looking ancestors from PA, perhaps these folks can help. It's quite a large collection and the archivist keeps the records up to date. Being close to civil war battlefields, the city has had plenty of brushes with the war. Civil war fans will want to stop here, and probably do. Whether you know about the town, or you do not, you should make some time to stop in and speak with these folks. They love what they are doing, and have good information on the part this town played in history. There is a small gift shop there and, if you appreciate the work they are doing to preserve history, leaving a small donation would be a very thoughtful gesture, although one is not required to visit. They are happy to help.

Timeline Arcade is a retro arcade in downtown York. Parking depends on the time of day with options…read moreon both the street and local garages, but don't be surprised if you have to walk a few blocks. Timeline is like most current retro arcades, you pay X amount per hour for unlimited plays, and you pay when entering. The entry fee for an hour is very reasonable. The arcade is reasonably large and is spread across two rooms. Selection includes retro arcade machines, pinball machines, consoles, and other gaming items. Timeline does get newer Stern pinball machines like JAWS and Star Wars: Fall of the Empire, on top of a handful of older machines like Spy Hunter and White Water. The selection of general arcade machines is good, with machines like Spy Hunter, Coors Light Bowling, Rampage World Tour, and Revolution X catching my interest. Several TV's and couches are available for console gaming. Timeline has some problems however. They need to more clearly define the BYOB policy in its public facing information. From experience, BYOB here means "mancan/tallboy" sized drinks IE larger cans. The bigger issue is the machine maintenance problems which have gotten worse over time. I've run into several issues with machines not working, and during my last visit a bunch in the back room were out of order. Some of the machines at Timeline are clearly B or C grade machines, and simply do not play as better examples would. Is Timeline still worth a visit? Yes. It remains one of the better retro arcades in Pennsylvania, but there are better out there including in surrounding states like New Jersey.

There's a great set of old sofas and chairs in the back, with retro consoles hooked up to those huge televisions like your grandparents had... I could have played those if they had any games that had appealed, but my first console was a n64 and they didn't have one of those. No nostalgia for me. Jeremy found the place overly loud so we left before our time ran out. There was a saint Patrick's Day parade going on right out front, since the arcade is on Yorks main Street. I suppose our other friends enjoyed themselves, but I didn't see them play any game for longer than 5 minutes. I think we're officially too old.
