I did not taste my oldests gumbo, but he ate until he was full. I think he held back for the event at the school we were going to later. I think he really liked it, and my partner's shrimp was delicious, she just wished she ordered something more filling. Out of everything I tasted the most enjoyable bite was my youngest's Creme Brulee French Toast, we let him order the larger portion, he's getting bigger, he did not hold back for the event later lol, he ate as much as he could. Absolute joke. I called the alumni club from my smart phone because I was looking for a place to watch college football on a Friday night and I happen to live right around the corner from this joke of an establishment...so I thought I'd give it a shot. Why do I keep referring to it as a "joke" you ask? I called, and was "greeted" by a man who sounded like he had better things to do...he answered the phone with a very short "alumni club." As a POTENTIAL patron who had never been to this establishment I simply asked Captain Too Cool if they ran a happy hour and how much domestic bottles were and he replied with a "come in and see," and proceeded to hang up in my ear. The man literally hung up on a customer who was inquiring about prices with an obvious desire to stop in and spend money. At that point I was absolutely shocked and I took my girlfriend and myself to a much better bar right around the way, Cornerstone Pub. First of all I am a waiter and have been making my living this way while putting myself through college...so I know a thing or two, okay a thing or eight about how to tip. Not only that but I work in customer service as it is obviously my job to keep many people happy at once in hopes of a good tip, so for this flunkie to hang up in my ear was shocking...but then funny. Funny how? Because he obviously knows nothing about customer service which leads me to wonder how he ever got a job as a bar tender. The moron who answered the phone and then hung up in a would-be customers ear most likely cost the bar/owner hundreds if not thousands of potential dollars and a loyal customer. You sir... are a moron and I hope you read this. I'll be spending my money at all of your competing bars. read more

This bar is a mess! The age group is 21-90!!!! The "DJ" (also 90) SUCKS!!! One minute hes playing Michael Jackson and Madonna then Grease Lightning!!!???? REALLY???!!! The place has regulars and "Favorites" and unless you are one of those you can forget getting waited on quickly or requesting a song! The DJs wife is a waitress and you cant even go NEAR the DJ booth or she gets pissy! My friend LOVED the place but even she HATES it now! We go to other local bars that are much more fun with MUCH better DJs. The other bars have alot of drink specials, thats always nice! I see reviews that say "typical" and "sports bar" and "unassuming", and yet those reviewers miss the most awesome thing about Alumni. They miss the fact that this establishment is not run by mere mortal men, but by gods of the pour. A mere single visit may not strike your "unassuming" ego, but given a chance and multiple visits and one will realize that no matter when you visit or whats on your agenda, the beer is always cold, the service outstanding, and the drinks above par. This is not your "typical sports bar". This is where men go to become men. Where women go to dance their nights away, and be put on pedestals. Enjoy the awesomeness that IS Alumni read more

The "bouncer" made an inappropriate homophobic comment then proceeded to throw a beer on my friend. The bartender wouldn't do anything other than say "well he's the bouncer". What a joke of a place.
