Despite times in the past where I've had to wait for a long time, there weren't many people here when I stopped in mid-day and was helped pretty quickly. I'm so impressed with the way this branch has handled COVID19 restrictions. If you are unable to complete your transaction online, the BMV will be open by appointment only so be sure to schedule one online. They're keeping occupancy inside the building to a minimum, checking in for your appointment is outside of the door with a staff member. Every item you touch is sanitized after you leave. I showed up early for my 10AM appointment, just in case COVID19 waivers and health assessments needed to be completed prior to my appointment. I was in and out of the building within 20 minutes. The staff was kind, helpful and I think everyone understands how important it is to be cautious while still providing outstanding service. This has been one of my better BMV experiences. read more

They are very picky about documents. I only wanted to get a permit but they felt weird about two documents i had from the same company listed that were sent to my address and said they couldn't accept it. So i had to leave and search for some junk mail with my name on it. For new residents, this can be a hassle as its hard to have mail when you just moved in to a new place. And they never answer the phone. How can i get there to ask questions without a license which is what im trying to do. Frustrating. read more

I just had the most pleasant experience with Jocelynn here at the Nora BMV. I never knew there was a branch here just off Meridian before 465. My wait time was nothing and she was incredibly helpful in getting my license renewed. This review is also a PSA: in order to be compliant with air travel by 2020 you have to have a "secure ID." This requires several forms of identification and can be very difficult/time consuming for women because of name changes due to marriage or divorce. So, start collecting your paperwork now and get in ASAP so you can pay your $$ to get this ID (this is the end of this review so I can avoid ranting about said ID laws.) read more

The recent overhaul of the BMV has been very evident, despite the class action lawsuit for over charging. The past two years, I've been in and out within 10 minutes of walking in the doors. Previously located in Nora, the new location on Meridian is much more visually appealing, with more available parking. Their take a number system is working well. I've gone in several times in the afternoon and there is no wait. The lawsuit gave a $7+ credit off my annual registration this year. Bought a brand new camper from a dealer 40 miles away. Just across state line. Can not plate it even though I have title and all the correct paperwork from michigan. Indiana requires a vin check on brand new vehicles even when Bought from a dealer.... I was told I had to bring the camper to the bmv for them to do the vin check. There is no where to park it without getting a ticket. I was told not her problem. Why are they so disconnected from their customers. Had to visit here three times, they even called me back one timeand then refused to provide service. When I go to the BMV or any government-run licensing/registration/mandatory office, the *only* thing I care about is how quickly I can get in and out. Nothing else matters. I have to be there. They know I have to be there. How much I am paying is already set. Just get me in and out RFN. Using that single criterion, this BMW is five stars. The workers are relatively efficient, the lines are short, and the online scheduling works flawlessly. I'm in, pay, and out quickly. Five stars. read more

The BMV's facilities and waiting times have improved overall, if ignoring the multiple overcharge and refund issues. Even with these improvements, I was still surprised at how quickly I was processed when visiting the Nora branch for the first time. The interior was nicer than the exterior suggested, there was ample parking, and a very short wait for a Saturday morning...I didn't even have time to crack open my book. My customer service assistant practically gave me a congratulatory hi-five, when I advised I needed a title transfer due to paying off my car...not the stereotypical attitude or lack of caring you sometimes see. So close to a five star on this one! They definitely have improved in efficiency and the facilities are fairly clean. Still a few bobbles with communication that are reminiscent of my BMV visits of long ago. I grabbed a number at their handy dandy computer just inside the entrance and my hiney barely hit the chair before they called my number. Mid-afternoon on a Friday, I was surprised at how few customers were around. I now think that is because they are just so darn efficient. I took my registration paperwork to the counter and quickly the agent identified an error on the dealership's paperwork. She told me I could call the dealership and have them fax a corrected document then let her know when it was sent. I did so and the dealership had everything sent over in about 5 minutes. When I approached the agent as she asked, she brushed me off and took another customer. I was pretty confused at this point. Her manager verified the corrected document had been sent and told me to take yet another number. Sigh. Things had been going so well. About ten minutes later, my new number was called by the agent that helped me originally. I immediately apologized for approaching her earlier and she replied, "no, no, that's what I asked". Rather than vocalize the stream of then-why-on-earth-didn't-you-help-me-you-made-me-feel-crazy that was whipping through my head, I shut my trap. Pick your battles, and all that. All my stuff was wrapped up about 2 minutes later. All in all, definitely not the worst experience I've had at a BMV. read more

Surprisingly fast. Any time that I need to go to the BMV is honestly a pain in the rear. Who likes to go to the BMV? Mmm, not many. I had to go not too long ago because guess what - I turned 27! Time for that brand spanking new license. With a "lovely" photo to boot. haha The wait time at this place was maybe a couple of minutes. And it was crowded. I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly I got in, got my photo taken, answered a few questions, ordered a new license and was out the door. They've perfected their in the door/out the door system. So for those busy folks like myself, this is ideal. And guess what - BMV is my 300th review. :) read more

I cannot believe how much the BMV has improved overall. I was dreading going in to get a new license plate and procrastinated until I no longer could. This location is new to me, so I thought I'd give it a try, hoping it was better than the former spot in Nora. Walking in I was immediately greeted by staff and instructed to get a deli style waiting ticket. The very moment I took one, my number was called up. The woman who helped me was quick, efficient, kind, polite, and had a great sense of humor. Before I knew it, I was done! My complete transaction took maybe 4 minutes tops! Unbelievable. I am an assistant at an adult nursing home. Last week I was there with an 85 year old woman to get an ID to qualify for Medicade. It was requested she have two pieces of mail. Not possible, as she had just moved in. Told to bring two forms of ID...so today I brought a copy of the lease and her birth certificate. This poor woman was turned down again, as the manager said she needed THREE items and told me rudely that he had trained his employees excellently and they did not make mistakes. Keep in mind this woman is 85. Every single person who heard it was simply appalled. This man was condecending, arrogant, and not in the least bit helpful. I can't get an 85 year old a W2 or 1040, and her previous ID had expired two years earlier. I asked why the birth cetificate which matched up with the expired ID didn't count. But you know what really frosts me? I'm 62 and he can be a jerk with me. But he humiliated an 85 year old woman......and did not seem to care. There should be some empathy or helpfullnesss ("sit over here and I'll explain it") but that was above him. Just shut up and get out. She was in tears on the whole ride home. I hope he is proud. I despise people who find it more important to prove they are right, assert their minimal authority, and not try and help an 85 year old woman. He should be so very very proud. He did nothing to help. Just kept telling me and her how wrong we were. Did I MENTION she is 85? He ought to be ashamed. At least that was the feeling of the other 12 people in the building. I don't write letters, but there is no excuse to be such a jerk. And by the way, tell him to stop wearing shirts three sizes too small to show off how buff he is. Cause a great body doesn't hide a horrible person who would bring an 85 year old woman to tears. But hey, at least his ego was soothed that he did that. I'm a mellow guy....but 20 years ago.....You definitely should institute some ELDER ABUSE POLICIES. She's not a person (WITH AN OXYGEN TANK) who could defend herself. But assure this idiot that her tears were real, that he was the reason, and what crushed her most was how she was treated. BY HIM. I'll end with this. I know ithere are rules to get a state ID. But for God's sake, SHE FOUND HER BIRTH CERTIFICATE, her lease, and her first monthly rental receipt with her address at the facilty. As far as I can count, that's THREE things. She deserves an apology....especially after waiting 45 minutes do be belittled by this first class tool. I could go on and on. I'll end with this. SHE IS AN 85 YEAR OLD WOMAN IN A WHEELCHAIR AND OXYGEN TANK. You hire some really classy folks. But at least he has tight shirts, which is clear explanation of his ego. The day I chose to go to transfer my plates was really busy. There was already a huge line waiting for the door to open. Once the door opened and I grabbed my number, I was number 41. To my surprise, the line moved relatively quickly. I patiently played around in my phone while I waited for my number to be called and time passed pretty decent. WOW!! Has BMV improved its efficiency or what?? It's a whole new experience. Workers are each 'full service' and handle the customers sequentially according to number in a very timely manner. Two cars, a trailer and a watercraft renewed in 25 minutes including the wait time on the due date - a far cry from years past. Workers are pleasant - another improvement. They seem a bit wary re: questions - perhaps attributable to current pending lawsuit re: overcharges - and didn't have some answers about fees but readily referred to (and provided) a customer service number. I have never dealt with such a horrible bureau of motor vehicles company ever. I have lived in Georgia since 2014 and they messed up my driver's license record because they did not update the information I provided to them stating that I was moving stating that I had it insurance in 2 different States for 6 months but lived in Georgia they took my license away when I went to visit Indiana stating that my Indiana driver's license had been suspended for failure to have insurance in the state of Indiana I cleared up an issue once again in 2017 and 2018 because AI was given a ticket in 2016 in which I proved that I had insurance at the time went to court and everything and now I went to renew my driver's license in 2019 and I've been trying since may 38th and I still can't seem to get ahold of anyone in the office I had a guy named Greg tell me his phone was dying and he had to end the phone call on May 30th when I called it was at the Georgia bureau of motor vehicles. I have been calling he and my agent has been calling in progressive insurance company has been calling to contact and let people know in the Indiana office that my insurance has never had a gap and Indiana can't seem to call anyone back or answered the phone and it's taken 2 hours of being on hold to still get no answers I still have yet to have anyone give me a direct number to call them back to get my information updated because they refuse to take a fax they refuse to be cooperative with the insurance companies that are trying to electronically submit the fact that I have had insurance this entire time and it is making my life a living h*** trying to get a driver's license renewed and I my license is going to be suspended if they do not fix this in the next day or 2 I would appreciate if somebody contact me with a direct number so that I can get this stuff straight now since you guys cannot seem to update information in the last 5 years nor the last 3 years and are trying to collect $1000 from me because you cannot update your information in your system I have had a Georgia license this entire time and without showing proof of insurance this entire time I would not have been able to have a Georgia license read more

back for the second time. first time guy didn't want to get my vin off my car because i was parked 42 steps from parking lot in front of building. so, i had to move closer for him. today he wouldn't walk 21 steps extra until i said something about being lazy. then, they wouldn't receive an email or a fax of a document they didn't even say they needed on the first trip. we had to literally go down the street and have fedex print it. what has happened to helping people that pay your salary through our tax dollars. the help needed is, be consistent and make sure you follow your own documents listed on website or maybe tell them when they come the first time what is needed. my goodness what a disappointment. read more

I move a lot (state to state), so I find myself going to the BMV (versus renewing online) almost every other year. Like most everyone, I dread it. I've had entire mornings and afternoons eaten up waiting. I went to this location on a Friday afternoon. The guy called my number so fast I missed the first two times he said it - I literally didn't have a chance to sit down. They were extremely helpful - the manager even came over and was FRIENDLY- to help me complete the title request. I've never been in and out so fast, and enjoyed the interaction while I was there. I've come to the BMV a couple times for separate reasons. There is a very lovely lady named Sharon who is kind and helpful and seems like she really enjoys her job. Another time I took my drivers test the instructor was very professional and nice. Now let's talk about Jessica. I don't throw shade often but my experience with her was not pleasant. She was very rude to my Grandpa and I, using a condescending tone and she seemed as if she hated her job and would rather be kicking kittens and feeding puppies to snakes or something. read more

I just moved to Greenwood, IN from California. I was in this BMV Office on Meridian on 9/30/17 at about 2:00 PM and encountered a female clerk more rude to my than any I have encountered in the disorganized system in California. She was passively aggressive, unwilling to offer advise or assistance or accommodate me in any way. All I was trying to do is be compliant with Indiana State Law and register my vehicle. She called someone else's number even while I stood there waiting for an answer to my question. I'll not ever go there again and will try my luck in another BMV Office. I had a good experience which prompted me to review! I went in about 8:45 am, and was out in less than 30 minutes to get my Texan car titled and registered in Indiana. You walk in, take a number and wait to be called. There were maybe 6 or 7 people ahead of me in line. The seats aren't super comfy (though not uncomfortable), but since you're not in them very long, it doesn't matter much. My only small complaint is that the individual charges weren't broken out to me before paying, though I also didn't ask. They were detailed on my receipt, however. There are four stations for taking the written test, and exams must be started at least an hour before closing. You can pick up a copy of the driver's manual at the BMV, which includes a practice test in the back. The location has plenty of parking as it's on the far side of the Kroger strip mall, and the interior is well-kept and welcoming. Texas DMV might be bigger, but I feel solid in saying the BMV is better! read more
