I can't begin to explain what a great spot this is!…read more It is dog friendly, it is wide open and beautiful, it has lots of live music, it is run by a family that is so very nice, and it is super affordable and tastes great! You can get a flight of wines for $5 or a glass of wine or a pint of beer for $5 each. You can even do a tour and tasting for $10. Plus, all the bottles are pretty much under $25. And they have quite a large variety of whites, reds, and roses too. Cindy, one of the owners, is so very friendly and helpful. She will go through an entire tasting with you with the highest level of patience, allowing you to taste and try anything you'd like to. Her brother-in-law also Is a gem, he himself Popsicles to all of the kids running around and let them ride on the tractor or explore into the garden. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!

You guys. If you love beautiful days at wineries and chatting with the nicest people, please visit…read moreEdg Clif. A friend and I had the most delightful time. The scenery is lovely. Arthur was the live music for the day and he played a great variety of songs (acoustic guitar). The wine is fantastic. I do not know a lot about wine, but I do know that each one we tasted (6) was very easy to drink. We shared a bottle there and I brought 2 home. Bonus: you can bring your own snacks (no beverages). I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine. Anywaaaay, make a little weekend out of visiting this area and have a lovely time at Edg Clif. (Photos do not do it justice)

After a long day on the road, LongHorn Steakhouse in Rolla was exactly the kind of stop we needed…read more I went with the 6-ounce sirloin, paired with a baked sweet potato and fresh steamed broccoli. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just the way I wanted, with a nice grilled finish that gave it that classic steakhouse taste. The broccoli was hot and fresh, and the sweet potato was a perfect side after a full day of travel, warm, filling, and a great complement to the steak. I also started with a Caesar salad, which was fresh and loaded with crunchy croutons and shaved parmesan. This made for a very satisfying dinner stop just off I-44, and it was an easy, dependable place to unwind for the evening in Rolla. LongHorn Steakhouse 1600 Old Wire Outer Rd Rolla, MO 65401

Finally got to Rolla to try Longhorn and it was not a good impression…read more Seated quickly and in a booth. Appreciated that. Server was fine. She became more engaged when, I believe, she saw we were not having the best experience so I give 4/5 stars for noticing but also because she was more attentive and gave me an extra plate quickly when I asked bc of the steak swimming in clarified butter that was supposed to be in a separate dish for the lobster instead of floating around the plate. Ribeye was actually really thin. You can see in the pics, about the same size as a thin ribeye from a recent grocery purchase I made. It was actually cooked well - for the size I would have expected overdone. Biggest issue is when I cut a piece and started to chew I had the shockwave from teeth on bone. A little chunk of bone was still in the ribeye. Pic included. I told her after we paid so she could warm the kitchen staff. Ribs - fine. Lobster - rubber. Could have thrown it across the room and it would have bounced at least twice. See pics. Also, the butter issue. Sides - side salad was crisp and the cucumber was fresh. Mash was interesting, and that could be because it's processed potato, a gluey issue from over-mixing, or that it was also taking a swim in the spilled butter. Fries were very tasty. Mac was okay. Overall spend with drinks was $109 with a 20% tip. I would not say it was worth it. We basically ate the salad and bread and called it a day.

I see people coming off the interstate sitting in the parking lot only to finally leave. We have to go up the road to the Waffle House instead. Passing by and looked for a place that my picky eater would love…read more I flinched coming in, because the lobby reeked like cigarette smoke, but luckily the dining room looked and smelled clean. Cute light fixtures over the tables, and all of the diffusers in the ceiling were spotless. The bathroom did look a little bit shabby and dated compared to the dining room, and bad tile and grout work made weird puddles instead of letting mop water drain properly. But everything in there was clean (and smelled good), so no shame on the staff. Host and server were super friendly. Our server checked in just the right amount. I got the super bird and my son got pancakes with butter (he's not into syrup). I hadn't had a super bird since college. It was pretty good. Crispy grilled bread, turkey, tomato, cheese, whatever else. The tomato slices looked like they came from a good fruit, not mushy. In the fruit bowl (99¢ upcharge from the fries), the bananas were perfectly ripe, and so were the grapes. The cantaloupe and strawberries were a little underripe, but I just sprinkled them with a packet of Splenda and let them sit while I ate my sandwich and it worked out great. It's Denny's. Like $18 for our meal, plus tip. I'd come back. You know what you're getting here.
