I shopped here yesterday. I have been looking for a "wear around the house bra" for a while and I needed to get fitted. The woman who waited on me seemed knowledgeable but she kept apologizing when I was praising her and asked several times if I wanted to talk to a manager when I told her she was doing a good job, it was odd. Then we tried two bras which seemed large to me but i was ok with it since it was a"wear around the house" situation. I had to sign and initial forms that said I was aware that all sales were final, which in and of itself is weird. I have never had to sign something at a store, leaving me to believe things have gotten ugly at some point. The bras are ok, but after wearing both for a day, they are way too big for me, something i only noticed after a few hours of wear. I have learned a lesson here, but be careful. I wear a 36 F bra and the bras I bought yesterday day are a 36H and a 36GG. I was offered the option of trying something smaller but was also told that there might be "spillage". I will never go back and the Goodwill is going to get two very nice bras. Buying bras that cannot be exchanged is not an option for most people. Also upon coming home and searching the web, both bras were available on sale, at companies that accept returns, for a lot less money. Lessoon learned. read more

The team has always been amazing every time I have visited over the last ten years. Tonight they went above and beyond. I got stuck in traffic after work and had a bra emergency. I had one give up on me this morning RIP and I'm getting ready to go out of town so i was desperate. Tried to give it another try since the last time I was there I had dealing with cancer and because of my surgery could not wear the bra I had purchased. It was still wrapped with the tags on it and thought because of this thought they might make an exception to policy but they aren't run that way. They are pricey but it's a nice shop. This review is for employees of Blythe, or any person considering becoming an employee @ Blythe. The selection of the store is great, the quality of the merchandise is exceptional, and the size range is beneficial to women who struggle finding their size at other places. The coworkers are amazing, so helpful and welcoming. Blythe, the owner, is such a kind person and gives great energy. My experience here as an employee was not pleasant and it was made that way by the management team. While I was still learning how the store runs and operates I did make some mistakes. When you make a mistake, you are berated and belittled. Management also talks about the mistakes you make and how much it annoys them behind your back to other coworkers. Any correcting that has to be made by the manager is usually done in a hostile and negative manner. Corrective criticism in the workplace is a must; however, at Blythe it is often demeaning . Other employees have left the boutique based on the negative energy and rude management. If you find yourself considering whether you want to work here, I just ask that you consider this and make the best decision for your mental health.I'm writing this review so other potential employees can be made aware of these things and know what they are walking into. The manager talks about "how slow" certain workers are and "how they're just not getting it" in front of other employees and even told me not to talk to one of the coworkers as much because she "doesn't really know what she's doing." When I would ask the manager questions, if she was preoccupied or didn't want to be bothered, her annoyance would clearly show. I forgot where something was and asked her where it was, and she was irritated that she had to tell me twice. She complains about employees not completing tasks when we were given multiple things to do at once. She didn't let us finish 1 task before giving us something more "urgent" to do. The manager proceeded to talk about how slow we are and how we never get anything done behind our backs, but loud enough so we could hear her. As far as the experience for customers they are very kind and helpful to people spending a lot of money but if you are a coworker the same respect is not given. I've worked at quite a few places and I have not liked everyone I've worked with believe me, but I do respect them and treat them the way I would want to be treated and that seems like a basic concept but some adults still don't have it. Blythe started this company and built it up to be what it is today and I hope it continues to thrive and grow. I Just don't see that happening with the current management team. It takes quite a bit of "motivating" to get a review out of me, but here we are. This past Tuesday (2 days ago), I attempted to help an old friend, and took her on a much needed shopping trip. We visited the Soma store in an effort to find a source for larger bra sizes, and when we failed to accomplish our task, our salesperson recommend Blythe. As we walked to my car, I phoned the nearby Blythe store, and was advised that they closed at 6pm. It was almost 5:30, but I headed there just see what we could find out about the place. The door was locked, and once opened, we were directed to the restroom to wash our hands. A little odd, but I was okay with it (and the hand soap smelled wonderful). A young woman introduced herself to my guest, and I decided to leave the bra fitting to the pro while I admired the beautiful linens, robes, towels, and pajamas. After several minutes, I ventured over to the room to check in with my friend. Upon arriving, I could not help but noticed the bra that she was trying on; it did not fit. The back of it was riding up her back (in the shape of an inverted "U"), and the cups were not filled at the top (the fabric was buckling). Overhearing our conversation, the woman that had been behind the counter, approached us at the fitting room. She agreed that the bra was not a good fit, and attempted to assist with locating a better option. The final bra that my friend tried on (ended up buying) looked like it was a much better fit, but ended up not working. When she put it on and sat down the next morning, the tightness across her ribs and upper abdomen was too much for her to bear. She simply cannot wear this bra. I called the store on Wednesday, and was informed that "due to COVID-19, our bras are not returnable." The salesperson then stated that my friend was informed of this (which she was not), and had initialed a receipt of acknowledging the garment was not returnable. Admittedly, my friend remembers being told to "initial here", and complied with her salesperson's request. Without her glasses on, and without verbal explanation of what she was initialing, my dear friend had no idea what she was agreeing to--she was never told that the bra was not returnable. While I was several feet away from her during the transaction, I never heard anyone tell her that the garment was a final sale. If I had, I would have advised her not to purchase it, because she simply does not have $50.+ to waste on anything at this time. Any observant salesperson should have picked up on the fact that this woman does not do a lot of shopping. This was a necessary shopping trip; not a frivolous one. In closing I would like to note that the first salesperson (the one that spent the majority of time with my friend), did not seem to be a bra fitting expert. The second woman (dark hair; more mature) seemed to know more, but if I had been either one of them, I would have advised my client to return to the store on another day. Some people just need more time for a professional fitting. Selling a bra that is not returnable, is not a smart business practice. Offering the time required to get it right the first time, and secure future sales, is. Shame on you, Blythe. Your greedy practices just cost you two customers that would have spent a lot more than the $50. you just pocketed on a bra that will never be worn! P.S.: PLENTY of stores accept bras and various other undergarments when returned. And if you want to use the "COVID-19" excuse to keep peoples' money? At least be aware that some of us are going to call you out on your ignorant practices. Meaning: returned bras are no more susceptible to transmitting viruses than the ones used in your fitting rooms! read more

Blythe is one of the most luxurious stores I've been in in a long long time. It focuses on lingerie and linens, and is very high-quality. When I walked in I was greeted by a truly delicious blend of scents, mostly floral... they carry some very high-end lines of soaps, scattered throughout the shop, that keeps it smelling heavenly and delicate without overpowering you (like when you walk into Bath and Body Works and get a headache). They offer bra-fittings and they keep a file on you to record your size and measurements and anything you've bought, making this the perfect location for a bridal registry or to send your husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/friend with benefits to buy you a little something special. I also saw some hand-embroidered towels with anorchid motif that I was IN LOVE WITH... super cute. But what I ended up buying was actually a gift for my expectant mother friend. They have a baby section that includes a few blankets and various baby items, but most of the section is devoted to high-end Mommy gifts like an aromatic spray that takes away the baby blues and morning sickness, creams to combat stretch marks and return your post-baby belly to the firm elastic belly you miss... and things of that nature. For my friend I ended up choosing a pair of underwear that say "Hot Mama: in rhinestones at the hip, because every pregnant lady needs to feel sexy, and not every present can be for the baby! Now, I legitimately paid almost twice what would have been a reasonable price for these underwear. However, because it was a gift I decided to shell out the cash, and in return I got some great customer service. While one associate set up my account in the system and put me on the Blythe mailing list, another wrapped my purchase in a lovely box, so it's all ready to be given! While I'm not sure that I'll be shopping here all the time, I definitely am going back to Blythe for wedding and baby shower gifts... and you'll find my husband there next Valentine's Day :) read more

I find out about this place a few years ago and I finally made the trip in. And it's so worth it!! I went in at kind of busy time but the wait for a fitter wasn't too bad. The lady I had eyeballed me and the bra I had on and she left and came back with the best fitting bra I've ever had. I wanted to try more on but my time was limited. But I'll definitely come back when I have more time. I'd recommend that you give yourself at least an hour to be properly fitted and to try things on. I went in (with an appointment) yesterday to shop for bathing suits. Their COVID-19 protocol was impressive: shopping by appointment, washing hands upon entering, all staff were wearing masks, and I was the only customer in the store. Shopping at Blythe is easy and feels glamorous: my attendant pulled several bathing suits in my size, all I had to do was try things on and choose my favorites. Blythe has an incredible selection of sizes. There is nowhere else in the RVA area where you can find as many (cute!) bras and bathing suits in DD+ sizes. Bra shopping is something I put off as long as possible (read: under-wires have come out and are stabbing me) since it is always a taxing experience which ends in me choosing the least awful option and never anything that makes me feel pretty. For reference, I have a band size of 30 or 32 (depending on brand) and cups, as another reviewer put it, too big for Victoria's Secret to carry. I live in Fredericksburg where there aren't any options for a girl with my build, so I decided to make the drive down to Richmond and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that I did. First of all the store is adorable and the customer service is unbeatable. Anna helped me with my fitting and she was a complete doll, patiently fetching me all sorts of bras, helping me get in and out of things, and giving me honest feedback on fits. Second of all, their selection is incredible. They have so many beautiful bras in my size, I actually had a hard time choosing which ones to not get, (I couldn't afford to buy them all) which has NEVER happened to me. The quality of the products seem superb. I haven't owned them for very long, but I can attest my new sports bra is hands down the best one I own. I have always had to layer my sports bras but last night I did an intense Crossfit workout with just my new one on and forgot all about 'the girls'. I will definitely be making the trip again when the weather warms up to purchase a bathing suit. For more years than I can count I've been wearing the wrong size bra. Two years ago I went to Blythe to try them out, since Victoria Secret bras don't fit me properly. The sales associates greeted me as I walked into Blythe and believe me I felt overwhelmed by all of the choices. The sales associate brought me back into the dressing room after asking me what exactly I was looking for. She helped with finding the correct size bra and told me how they were supposed to fit. Who would've known bra shopping was so freaking difficult and that so many women wear the wrong type of bra? They have a wide array of bathing suits, bras, and lingerie. I highly highly highly recommend getting fitted properly for a bra. I was actually fitted for a bra less than a year ago and still felt like I was wearing the incorrect size. I came to Blythe to get a different opinion and I'm so glad I did. Not only did they resize me, they showed me how to wear it properly, wear I'd like for straps to fall, and what makes it the correct or incorrect size. My girlfriend and I came in and they were rather busy. My only complaint is that we ended up waiting for quite some time it would have been nice to get an update on where we were. There didn't seem to really be a process or order to it so we roamed around the store. The girl that fitted us was super sweet, brought us great styles, and was extremely helpful and honest and which items she thought would work best for us. I can't say enough fond things about Blythe. The customer service is fabulous. The products are plentiful and what they don't have, they will graciously order. They have an array of brands, bridal lingerie, swim suits and panties for EVERY size. I've been to MANY lingerie stores, but no one has carried so many options for my irregular sized lingerie. I've moved across the country and I still visit them whenever I'm back in Richmond as well as order long distance to have them mail me items. If you go in once, you'll be hooked, but you definitely won't regret it! P.S. Don't get me wrong...this place isn't cheap (depending on your budget), but you're paying for an amazing service that finds you an amazing bathing suit. This enough for me is worth paying more than any other retail store. My only thing is that you need to reserve a dressing room, be on time, be prepared to wait...but don't lament because you will have the same equal amount of care, attention, and knowlegde given to your needs. This store almost made me cry because it's literally the first store I've ever found that has my cup size in multiple options that are all really cute! I was able to find multiple bathing suit tops here for a decent price with the help of one of the store workers and I couldn't be happier! The reason this review isn't a 1 star is because I have been shopping here for 9 years and love this store. However, today's experience was terrible. This person had no idea what I wanted. Maybe I am just too accustomed to such a high level of service at this store. I have never needed to explain what I am looking for in such detail and still left without finding what I wanted. I came in looking for a molded cup bra and something that was less supportive but more for wearing at home that was super comfortable. I finally got a molded cup bra I liked at the last minute when I was ready to walk out. I'm hoping this experience was just a fluke and not a sign of the service level going down. I've seen several dissatisfied reviews of this shop lately & just wanted to take the time to brag on them! I am 31 years old but had never owned a comfortable & sexy bra until I found this place. I currently wear a 36JJ bra - not exactly the kind of thing thats easy to find! This shop is an unbelievable resource for women who are not overweight but are very busty! I have never had anything but outstanding experiences with their customer service & the products they carry. I saw one review complaining about their return policy, but from personal experience, you can return anything that still has the tags on it, within an allotted window of time. It is a lingerie store after all - some stores won't let you bring those kinds of items back at all!!! One thing I will say - this isn't necessarily the kind of place where you can just walk in, try on a bra & walk out. They are committed to helping you find the perfect fit, & they will spend as much time as it it takes. So when the store is busy, you're likely to have to wait for a dressing room. It's WELL worth the wait...or you can simply plan ahead & make an appointment. :) The brands they carry do have a boutique price tag but I've never been disappointed with the money I've spent here. I have shopped here for several years and they sell the most wonderful fitting and supportive bras and bathing suits ever! It amazes me how they can determine your fit by looking at you. I was so tired of wearing bathing suits that either had me spilling out everywhere on the top or looked frumpy and old. I went in to browse a few months ago. I've been putting off writing the review. It appeared as though they had lots to look at. I was approached by a very young girl, and asked if I needed any help. I said sure, and stated that I probably needed to be measured. She then turned really rude, and said they just do basic measuring, and it would be a while. I was like no thanks and left. I'm sorry that you are busy, but you don't need to treat customers that way. I proceeded to short pump mall. I ended up at Dillard's and was measured by a really nice older lady. She was a certified fitter and gave me her card. It is a shame the girl was so rude, I was ready to invest in some nice bras etc. Obviously they don't care about the rude service. I'll change my review if they come through but I had a very bad customer service experience to date. The fitter was quite abrupt and when I expressed concern stated that since I had not worn a well fitted bra I just wasn't used to one that fit well. After wearing the bra on a Sunday for 5 hours I sent an email to cancel the order as it was incredibly uncomfortable. I didn't get a response so called on Monday and was told that even though I had requested a cancel BEFORE they placed the order with the manufacturer that I still couldn't cancel the order. So this tells me they were more focused on selling every bra they could than they were on having a customer get a good fit. To me, placing an order for something that your customer has told you was a misery to wear is worthy of a Better Business Bureau notification read more

I was a loyal customer for years and really loved both the customer service and the bras that I purchased. It really does make a difference to have an expert help with fit and help you navigate all of the choices. I have spent hundreds of dollars over the years at Blythe, but my last experience will prevent me from returning. As always, I got great help trying on and finding a bra. It was a different style for me, but seemed to fit what I needed. Two days later, I wore it for about two hours and found that it shifted in the front and seemed too big. I quickly brought it back to the store that same day and put it on to see if it needed adjusting or if the size wasn't right. The person that helped me said that it was the right size and was adjusted properly but that the style didn't seem to work with my small frame. She said that she would make a note in my file. I asked her what I could do since It didn't work for me and she said that since I took off the tags, I couldn't return it per their return policy. She said, "it's underwear after all". While I understand their return policy and respect their right to have it, I left with a brand new, expensive bra that I couldn't wear. The fact is, you can order the same bra online or buy it at Nordstrom AND if it doesn't fit, return it or exchange it. With the cost of these bras and my years of dollars, loyalty and recommendation to friends, the return/exchange policy is a dealbreaker for me. If you need expert fitting and don't mind the risk of getting it wrong, go there. I won't go back. I would give the staff, service and selection 5 stars but the return policy unfortunately erases them. read more

Went in with such discomfort (from my poorly fitting bra) & left feeling great with a brand new properly fitting bra. The ladies were so nice & helpful. Was told I could try on different styles that may fit me better (after being fitted by their personnel) but I couldn't return this one. This one being the bra that the band rolls up my back. Always the tag along with friends willing to drop a small fortune on intimates, I finally made the decision to indulge. I purchased (and was gifted) several bridal pieces in Spring 2015. I returned on yesterday for what will be my semi-annual visit (unless I am taking family/friends). I have never experienced poor service. The patience of all those working is amazing. Good undergarments make a look (and a happy hubby), so this is an investment that I will make as needed!! I had a private show during the recent trunk sale. I had a great experience at Blythe. The lady who helped me did not pressure me into buying anything even though she brought me lots to try on. I was on the hunt for a white bra. While they did not have any white bras available to purchase in the store, she did offer to order any bra I liked in white. Unfortunately, I'm impatient. I love this place. I've been going for years and today adds to the many fantastic visits I've had. The staff is so professional and friendly. I have large breasts and travel over an hour to buy bras here because they fit perfect and are beautiful. The staff knows their stuff and have helped me tremendously over the years in finding supportive, beautiful, and affordable bras. I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy. I purchased a bra in the store, wasn't sized right, and didn't realize the bra didn't fit until I got it home. I had to be out of town, but as soon as I came back I brought the bra back in after calling and talking to the store manager who assured me it was no problem to come in and exchange it given that the tags were still attached. When I brought it to the store, however, I was accused by the assistant store manager that the bra looked, "worn" because when I had tried it on I had gotten a small amount of deodorant on it. This resulted in a half and hour argument in front of other customers in the store where the manager condescendingly insisted that I had been wearing the bra, when actually it had been untouched. It was a humiliated experience, and when I asked to speak to the owner I was told that she does not handle customer concerns. I will NEVER go back to this store, and suggest that if anyone wants to shop for personal items with dignity while being respected, that they stay far away from this place!
