Terrible Management & Unethical Practices - Avoid This Gym…read more I strongly do not recommend this Anytime Fitness due to its unprofessional management, misleading business practices, and poor customer service. Robin Sloan, the manager, was friendly before I signed up but became dismissive and rude afterward. She never disclosed the automatic renewal policy and refused to provide a copy of my contract despite several requests. I only discovered I was locked into a contract by researching it myself. The gym is horrible at responding to emails or calls unless they want money--then, they suddenly become very responsive. Robin is also disorganized and forgetful--she overcharged me during enrollment, admitted it, and asked me to remind her later. When I did, she acted defensive and rude instead of correcting her mistake. The gym charges a $60 yearly "cleaning fee, shampoo fee, etc" yet I saw Robin multiple times acting as the janitor herself, walking around with a trash bag and cleaning gloves. The showers were poorly maintained, with nothing but a single bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo. For months in 2023 and early 2024, I paid over $100 per month for an "all-inclusive" plan that included fitness classes and personal training, but no classes were offered. A few weeks before I downgraded my membership, they suddenly introduced Body Pump--taught by Robin herself. So now, in addition to being the manager and janitor, she is also the trainer. I assume she got certified, but I strongly doubt she has the proper knowledge to train safely, which could be dangerous. The auto-renewal cancellation process was just as shady. I followed the 30-day notice rule stated in Anytime Fitness' contract, officially notifying them on January 8th, 2025, and continued paying for the required next month. Despite this, Robin kept demanding an extra payment. Even after I proved her wrong, she continued to pressure me for money and ignored my request to stop contacting me. The situation escalated further when I refused to pay this unjustified charge ($29.55). She increased the amount to $59.10 and sent it to collections. This violates their contract, which states, "Renewal terms may be canceled with a 30-day written notice" This is not only unethical but borderline harassment and an incredibly pitiful way for a gym manager to operate. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) against them, and from what I've seen, I am not the only one they have treated this way. It's clear that this gym has a pattern of misleading and exploiting its members, and I strongly recommend avoiding it. The only decent aspect of this gym is the occasional guest policy, but that does not outweigh the dishonesty, poor management, and lack of professionalism. They might make money off you for a year or so, but if Robin were smart enough, she would have focused on keeping long-term customers and earning referrals instead of driving people away. Several of my friends and I in the neighborhood have canceled or are waiting for our memberships to end, and none of us will ever return. If you care about ethical business practices, professionalism, and a well-run gym, stay far away from this place.

This has been my favorite and I specifically love this location as well. I started out coming to the Lenexa location because of my sister, and I pass a couple other OTs to come here. I have stuck with a Lenexa due to the coaches and "vibe" here. I recently upped my membership and class frequency because I genuinely enjoy coming here! I get so much more out of each session and push myself harder than I would just on my own. It definitely gets my vote!

I don't know if all Orange Theories are the same, but I can tell you stay away from this one…read more First of all not only do you have to pay high monthly fees but you have to pay for a gizmo that may or may not work, You can't just take the class and workout because you have to have this heart rate monitor so you can stay in the "zone" But I was willing to deal with that so I can have the structure. My first "Trial" class was pretty good. The instructor made sure I knew what I was doing, checked in with me throughout the class, and the heart rate monitor worked as it should. That didn't make it past that class. As my monitor didn't even register my name on the monitor, the instructor walked by several times as I sat there obviously not doing anything. Did she stop and check on what was wrong? Heck no. I had to go to the front desk three times to try to get it working. Now remember you must have the monitor to work out. So i sat there missing the first ten minutes of class. And having to get up and walking out of the training room repeatedly was embarrassing. And yet this "instructor " never did a damn thing. Of course the front desk didn't come into the room to see what the issue was. They just kept telling me it was fixed.. So I had to leave. Then I got an email later on with my progress report. WTF? I obviously didn't work out so what progress were you reporting on? At least I got an email from my sales rep trying to make it right. Got a phone call two mornings later from the Head "Coach" "extending a warm welcome". Like you had no clue what happened the class before? I was just another name on a list she finally got around to calling and feeding me a pre-scripted pitch. Then i got an email from the manager. If it wasn't for that email I would have quit right then . She promised to make sure everything ran smoothly the next week. Spoiler Alert? Yeah you know it didn't. My first issue was the website. I'd log in go to schedule my class and it would try to schedule a location 400 miles away. So I had to call in to book. Frustrating. I got there early to make sure they could double check the equipment. Noone made sure my monitor was working properly. What I did get was a babysitter who tried to tell me I was holding the row machine handles too tight. Once again WTF? If I can make this stupid monitor inoperable my squeezing my hands too hard then something is wrong with your equipment No matter how hard I rowed couldn't get above 34%(58 bpm) which is below a good resting heart rate(60 bpm) And since I've only recently quit smoking my resting beart rate is 80 bpm. Which means if I just sit there my monitor should register about 46%. But my babysitter convinced me it'll get better. Lol yeah. It should work from the beginning not 50, 80, 90% of the time. At the end of class I gave the front desk back the monitor. Of course I had to wait for someone to get to the desk. And of course she tried to convince me that she saw it working. Um no you didn't. Even my babysitter saw that it didn't work properly. And now it's been a whole week and I have not received another email from the manager or call from the "Head Coach". And I have yet to see a refund, which means I need to deal with them Monday or my bank to start a back charge. Both frustrating.

Check in at the counter is an easy scan of your card. There's a ton of treadmills, stair masters, & ellipticals towards the back. There's a dedicated stretching area in the far back on the left and a 30 minute dedicated station workout area far back middle. There's also another more open area back right. If machines are your game, there are several for various different exercises. And of course there's a few racks of free weights. If you're a black card member, there's massage chairs and a few other amenities. Overall it's a solid gym for the price and even during busy times, waiting for machines is pretty limited. Just make sure to observe the hours since they're not 24/7/365 - this location closes on Friday/Saturday/Sunday later in at night.

You don't have to…read morejoin the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

I expected discretion and proper follow-up. After reporting, I became aware of information that made me question whether confidentiality was maintained. Management attempted to discuss my complaint in public areas in front of another client rather than privately. I was passed between multiple local and corporate staff members with no clear point of contact or consistent updates. I paused my membership on December 24, 2025 and requested cancellation on February 4, 2026. After no response, I submitted a second request and ultimately canceled on February 10. Between my pause on 12/24 and my request on 2/4, I received no follow up. Between my request on 2/4 and cancellation on 2/10, a front desk employee who was unaware of the situation called to encourage me to return. I attempted to schedule an in-person discussion multiple times, but my request was not addressed. This experience caused ongoing stress and has led me to doubt Life Time's care for their members. Bottom line: Don't trust that you're valued as a member or that your voice matters.
