Bluetop is a new restaurant in CHAMBLEE, their menu is very limited but the few items being offered are done right. The fried cauliflower is delish and the drinks boozy. Service is standard and the location has limited parking. The main draw of this space is the outdoor seating area. It is a little annoying that you have to order at the bar and then sit like a fast casual, not sure if that's because of COVID or their business model. Either way, I would be back. read more

Ordered the fish sandwich of the day. It wasn't restaurant worthy. Had to ask for extra sauce and pickles to get some flavor into it. The drinks were Ok, my cocktail watered down pretty quickly though. My husband ordered wings and those were fine. I'm giving it 3 stars because my plate wasn't good and the menu in general didn't have any "healthier" options. I wish their menu was better. Absolutely loved this spot! Was definitely questionable walking up...seemed like it would be a dive bar, but once we walked in we realized we were completely wrong! Ordered at the door, app was grilled (not blackened) octopus and I must say...I typically go to fancier spots and this was the best octo I've ever had. Next we had the main course, veggie burger for me (amazing, and I'm not even near a vegetarian). My date for the Italian grinder...huge and so tasty! Oh, we loved EVERYTHING about this place! I arrived with my buddy and his brother last week. I had no idea what we were in for, I just wanted to eat downtown Chamblee and picked a name off my Google search. The open concept for dining room is just perfect. We sat on the front long high top overlooking the railroad/train rail and the delicious smells from the smoker enticed many senses. We had a feast I have to make honorable mention of their LOBSTER CORNDOG! and while I eat mostly KETO, i took a good bite! They were kind enough to make me a good serving of brisket topped with cheese. Their cauliflower is the best recipe I have ever tasted and I have been eating the damn thing for 1 year now and it gets old! The flavors were just incredible. I am now eating the leftover brisket and cauli a week later. The staff was very engaging and the bartenders served us right! It poured around 5 and we were more than happy to be stuck there another hour. I will be coming back for more food and drink. My buddies are very happy I vetoed going to the boring chain restaurant they had suggested. read more

I got to try BlueTop today unintentionally. We tried to go to Southbound and had such a terrible experience, I opted to walk over to BlueTop instead. I am so glad I went. Before I talk about the food, I just want to say how stellar the service was. Everyone from the bartender, wait staff, and owner were on top of their game. We constantly had someone coming by to ensure we were taken care of and water glasses were full. I don't typically expect great service at fast casual restaurants, typically you're left to fend for yourself after you receive your food. So BlueTop is in downtown Chamblee, not far from the MARTA station, SouthBound, and Hopstix. You order at the front and find yourself a seat as you wait for them to bring you your food. Food came out pretty quickly despite how packed the restaurant was. There's a nice outdoor area where you can bring your little ones to roam freely. We ordered the following things: roasted octopus, "nachos", wings, fries, spinach and strawberry salad, and an empanada. I didn't get to try everything but I'll say the wings and octopus are delicious! The octopus was super tender, better than I've had at many other fancier establishments in town. I really didn't expect it to be so good! I can't recall the sauce on the wings but it was just the right amount of sweetness. I believe they change up the wings seasonally but I doubt you can go wrong. BlueTop seems like a great option especially if you're looking to day drink. I'm glad to see great restaurants opening up in Chamblee. I hope this place sticks around. read more

Super cool vibe. All open and tons of outside seating with dogs welcome (huge plus). Food is not cheap but is tasty, so worth it for ordering it at the bar they give you a number for your table, no wait staff but food runners that are happy to get you incidentals if need be. Anytime you need food or drink you go back to the bar and order from bartenders. There was live music the Saturday night we went and where is was loud if you were sitting under the roof it was pleasant to hear outside. We will be back. read more

My go to spot for late nights drinks in Chamblee! Alex makes the best drinks she is very creative and recently made me a dragon fruit margarita (picture attached)! We are regulars and have always been taken care of with great service! Our go to menu items: - truffle waffle fries - chicken nachos - on draft margarita ( yes they have margaritas on draft, they are strong and the flavor changes often with different fresh juices) This place is very casual, order at the register or bar and no table service (which we don't mind). Tldr: Great farm-to-table sports-bar-atmosphere addition to Chamblee I love how much Chamblee has been growing the last few years. There has been an influx of new condos nearby, new restaurants, new shopping centers, and new foodie adventures! Bluetop is one of those new places that are right along the Chamblee Marta Station street. It is right in the middle of some of my favorite places: Moonbird Coffee (located inside Southbound), Southbound itself, Zen Tea, and Chamblee marta station itself :P. Bluetop is interesting because it has a sports bar atmosphere with Farm-To-Table local food. It's approachable, not too expensive, and still tastes amazing. Justin and I tried it on Halloween night where they had a couple of great drink specials. We tried a drink called "IT" based on the movie and it was amazing as well as their ghoul margarita. For food we tried their grilled octopus (which is the buffalo octopus with the sauce on the side), the burger, and the angry [ish] fried chicken sandwich (ish because we got the buffalo sauce on the side here as well). Everything tasted great. The buffalo sauce was a little too spicy for us so we were glad we got it on the side. They also had an interesting dessert menu, but we were way too full at that point so we decided to come back and try their desserts later. Someone did bring us candy which was nice! I'm not thrilled about this rating. This was one of my favorite hangouts and I recommended it to many people. Let me explain: To me, a good restaurant experience is 50% quality/presentation of the meal and 50% amiable service. As far as the food goes, the quality is the same as before, which is a solid 3 stars. You get a minimal offering but it's varied enough to please most and the quality is typically good. However, there is little change to the menu since I first started going a couple of years ago. The cocktails are over the top too sweet for my taste and definitely overpriced. A simple gin and soda is $5 over the average cost. Regarding the service, something has happened here in the last year - drastically and abruptly. When they first opened, the owner was delightfully welcoming, the food and drinks were fantastic, the service was spot on. I thought the ambiance was so cool - a nice mix of casual hangout at the bar that faces the outside in front and the large outdoor area in the back. I also appreciated the story about the decor. In the last year, half the wait staff has become plain rude. I have yet in the past year to get a warm greeting at the ordering line. When you want to ask for additional assistance in the way of extra water or an add-on to your order, some of the servers don't look at you, smile at you and in fact, one of the guys argued with us about the contents of one of the drinks. He then ignored us when we tried to get his attention later. Why hasn't anyone else complained about him? To the other servers' defense, there are some who are really wonderful and were the sole reason I decided to go back a few more times. And the owner, who was once so friendly, no longer frequents my table. I mean, it's strange when someone suddenly acts like they don't know who you are?! Why is the majority of the staff there stressed or seemingly annoyed? I'm not sure but this alone was enough for me to stop going. read more

Found this place while celebrating a birthday and looking for an outdoor space to enjoy the nice weather one Saturday afternoon. The owner and staff were very accommodating and made sure our large party was seated and taken care of. Food orders were taken at the front counter,then you take a number and place on your table for it to be brought out to you. We ordered the pecan butter wings, which seem to be a popular item. It has a distinct taste but definitely worth trying. Not my fav wing sauce, but very creative. The kids meals were cute, and plentiful. The popcorn chicken was real,fresh chicken topped with popcorn. The kids enjoyed the play on words. The more margarita and drinks were great and well mixed. The kids love the outdoor patio area because there were lots of things to do and games to play while we enjoyed our meal. Parking is a bit limited as the parking lot on the side of the building only accommodates about 12 cars or so. I'd recommend getting there early to get an outdoor table on the weekend. read more

I took a group of friends to Bluets to hear the Untouchables play and it was a great night. Great food and great music. The outdoor patio appears to have been expanded and it is a great space for an evening of fun. The one challenge is Bluetop's limited parking. Minus one star for having mostly large tables which means they get taken up with parties of 2 who spread out and have to be asked to shift up and share the space. Would be awesome if they could put in a few smaller tables to accommodate more people in smaller groups. The parties with kids seemed to enjoy watching them play together with cornhole boards and coloring pencils. Good came out swiftly and was tasty. French fries were awesome. Came after work at the suggestion of Robin and we had a great time. It was too cold to eat outside but they've got a great open setting that will be perfect for alfresco dining and drinking. In the back patio area they've got bocce ball and other games and they seem to have live music a lot. So, it's that kind of place - hip but also family friendly. They've got nice drinks - Robin approved their aviator (she has exacting standards for this drink) and I loved their honey and the bees cocktail. The bartender also makes great negroni, which we love so much. We went for the small plates and made some excellent choices today - wonderful octopus plate, amazing risotto balls and fabulous (and generous portion) cauliflower. That was enough for us. So, we liked it here. Next time I want warmer weather so I can sit outside. It fills up by 6:30 or 7pm, so expect noise and lots of people. (It's not tiny but it's definitely not big.) read more

Attended a private party at Bluetop yesterday and it was terrific. The food was wonderful - pulled pork and chicken, pimento cheese croquettes, spicy cauliflower, fried pickles and more. Drink were great and the service was outstanding. Every member of the staff was so friendly and helpful. The DJ was great and the music made the party very festive. I will definitely return for dinner next time we return to Atlanta. read more

I think it's nice that Bluetop gives people in the neighborhood or surrounding area another hangout or bar option, but this place is just OK to me and borderline "meh". I don't particularly like the style of ordering everything you think you might want one time at the counter as soon as you walk in as I would have preferred to sit at the bar and ordered food and drinks in sequence or as needed as I sat there. I ordered the Shrimp Burger for ~$13 and paid an extra ~$3 for a side of fries. I wasn't a fan of the Shrimp Burger as the patty tasted a bit strange and I did not like the jalepeño bun it came on...I see what they were trying to do, but the bun really didn't add a kick or anything useful to the sandwich. The fries weren't that great either so I didn't end up eating much of my meal. Can't really speak on the service because it didn't seem like they do much actual "serving" at this spot. Bluetop has been open for a little while now, and I believe they have straightened out the confusion some were expressing about ordering first, and then finding a table. They are still slightly unique, in that even after ordering and finding a table, there is still some self service when it comes to having to get up to get your own water. I'm not sure why that is, but if you just accept it and look at it as a chance to get some extra steps in then you will be fine. On my most recent visit, we had the following items, all which I would recommend and found to be quite tasty: -Crispy Cauliflower -Empanada -Candied Pork Belly & Shishito Peppers -Pecan Butter Hot Wings My favorite of these was the pork belly and peppers. I would have given the food here a 4 or a 5 but the flow and logistics of the place threw me off a bit. First, the parking is very limited as there are only a few spots available in the lot. Second, you order at the counter, find a table, and then pay after you eat. The flow seemed extremely choppy to me and unusual for this "type" of restaurant. There were four couples waiting near the door to order and then find seats so it was a bit chaotic. I'd like to see either table service or ordering/paying at the same time. Also the front room is super dark so if you're ordering food, I'd suggest getting a seat in the back room. It would be fine if you were just getting drinks but I would have liked to be able to see my food. The good: I am looking forward to checking this place out in the spring when the patio is open. It's a very hip spot and is great for a few drinks and bites. Although the logistics of ordering and finding a seat was awkward, the food came out super fast! And it was all really good. We ordered the black garlic fries ($8) ...AMAZING! These are a must. They're covered in onion straws and pickled onions and come with a delicious aioli. I had the blue cheese and date salad with mahi mahi ($10+$5). It was fresh, large, and tasty. My boyfriend had the smoked pork sandwich which he said was really good but messy ($13). The sandwiches come with extra crispy chips. Overall -we will be back but might take MARTA and will sit either outside or in the back. read more

This place is good for a casual weeknight dinner or drink. It is never too crowded and has a good atmosphere. They sometimes have live music which is great but I have found it can be a little too loud to enjoy a conversation if you're sitting in their covered indoor/ outdoor area. The service here is fine and the food itself is good. I don't have any complaints about it! I do wish they have a bigger bar. Even though they have two, they are somewhat small and seating is limited. Off the chain. Then the Buffalo octopus. Yes, Buffalo octopus... that kind of Buffalo, and it's not fried, it's grilled and served with a schmecken of pickled red onions and baby heirloom tomatoes. I've been looking at this space for years. It had Ivy grown all over the building and looked abandoned. It's located directly across from the railroad tracks in a quaint "historic" ole town feel of Chamblee. This area is the new "In" destination for food and developing culture. Condos are built and building around it. Today, it's a new restaurant called Bluetop. They've really done a fantastic job of creating an eatery from this space. However, they downsized the parking lot and created more patio/dining space. So parking is scarce, for a busy restaurant. The Good: The Lobster Corndog. The Bad: The order at the bar line, is terrible, especially when the people in front of you don't know what they want, asks a million questions about the food, then asks another million questions about the drinks. The line was out the door. The couple behind us, left. I waited 25 minutes before it was my turn to order. Then, the girl taking the orders could not hear me and kept making mistakes. To her credit, she repeated what she thought I said. At which point, I corrected her by repeating my actual order. The food came, the first item was the lobster corn dog, GREAT!. From this point on, it was all down hill. Next was the fried oysters. It was WAY over fried! When you pick up a piece and it's like picking up crumbled paper, so light weight, this means it's OVER FRIED! You could actually see the oyster is dried and shriveled. I asked this to be re-made. Then the Cob Salad with Chicken. Nothing special about it, except it was in a bowl. It didn't have what a traditional Cob Salad should have, but that's okay. Everyone is entitled to their own interpretations. Then my Beet Salad. Terrible, terrible, terrible. It was pickled, but it should've have read, "Vinegar Beet Salad". Because that's exactly what is was. And it was about 3 oz. of mixture, hardly a salad. See photos! The oysters came back, but now was missing the chips. Finally, for what it is, Semi Self Service eatery, No Table Side Service/full service. It is Very Pricey. You have to order your food, then find a seat, then get your own water. Whatever dude was working today (like now) with long hair, plaid shirt, white hat, long white socks, may have been one of the rudest people I've ever encountered in a customer service situation. He slammed our drinks down on our table without telling up what was what, acted ANNOYED when I asked him and told me what he put on our table while he was walking away from my table, turned his back to me when I told him I thought the drinks were incorrect, and was unphased when he saw me at the bar trying to get the mistake fixed. Everyone else was so nice and helpful and made awesome drinks but I will honestly never go back because that guy was so rude and unwilling to help. It's an interesting concept; order you food and drink at the front and sit down at a table with your number so they can bring you both. I had the truffle fries, crispy wings, and a black Manhattan. Everything was tasty although the wings could've been cooked longer; not the best quality. There was some live entertainment. They played very appropriate music for the venue/setting. AMAZING burger and AMAZING outside patio game area. Okay so this place just opened yesterday (Monday) but you would ever know it! Everything is running smoothly! I'm super picky about burgers and I can tell you think burger is beyond amazing I ate the entire thing! The spicy chicken sandwich is amazing as well and massive. Two bars with tvs surrounding. Front room has a big table that seems great for larger parties. But the back of the place is one of a kind! Open doors, games and outside fun how perfect. I'm beyond excited this place is better than I had hoped it would be. Can't wait to come back. Parking might be tricky in the lit right next door but there are others a short walk away. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and friendly staff, however, there is much to be desired for flavor, portion, and general traffic flow. General venue: location is in historic Chamblee by the rail line. Formerly a taxi stand converted into a restaurant with an added build-on for kitchen and seating. Definitely not recommended for hot/cold days as it is not a completely enclosed space so there is a lot of open air (but great if the weather is just right). I went for a late dinner in August and it was uncomfortably hot with just ceiling and floor fans to circulate the air. Food: pricy for what is considered "fast casual". Portion sizes are very disappointing. The lobster corn dog was good but was expecting more than a 2-bite dish for $14. The beet salad was also way too small for $10 and was so overly citrus flavored it overpowered any other flavor and caused a pucker with every bite. The lamb sloppy joe was overly salted as was the potato crisps. Staff: very friendly and accommodating Traffic flow: food is ordered at the bar register upon entering the restaurant. There were only 3 small groups ordering in front of me but somehow took 20 minutes to actually get to the register. After you sit the food is delivered to your table. However, if you want to order more (which was necessary for my visit due to the portion sizes) you have to wait in line again which I opted not to do due to the line. This is inconvenient and inefficient as you can order drinks from your table and there are point of sale (POS) systems in the dining area. read more
