Broadfood has been selling Civil War books for longer than many folks reading this review have been alive (including me and I'm in my late 30s)! Broadfoot is a major publisher of Civil War titles and they also sell used Civil War books. This location is their storefront. And oh what a store it is! If you are a military history buff or student of the Civil War this is very literally heaven on earth. The store isn't fancy but it's stocked with thousands of new and used books on the Civil War. The folks running the shop are friendly, welcoming, and exceedingly helpful. I spent 4 hours browsing and still didn't see everything. Prices are so reasonable to almost be absurd. They have books that sell for hundreds of dollars for $5, $10, $20, or $30 each. They also stock many rare highly collectible antiquarian books as well. Though they have a huge selection of used Civil War titles, as a publisher Broadfoot also specializes in publishing large and often rare but critical primary source reference sets like the Official Records of the Rebellion. In their store many of these sets are heavily discounted from what they cost when ordering online or from other bookstores. Even better they have a scratch and dent section too. You can pick up sets most people would only ever see in a major University library for fractions of their street price. If you are a book person and interested in the Civil War this place is a MUST SEE. Just be aware they have very limited hours on Wed and Fri only. In this day of publishers and shops dying left and right and folks moving to eBooks places like Broadfoot are to be celebrated! I can't wait to visit again soon.

Friendly staff with good recommendations, always initiating conversation and very welcoming. Using LOCG (website) they suggested to pull covers makes selecting your books really easy. Great selection of new books and alternate covers. I need to take some time and look through their back issues. They do have a nice selection of Key wall books that seems to grow monthly. Been collecting for 40+ years and I would highly recommend making this your "home shop" if you live nearby.

Prices were primarily at MSRP from what I had looked through. You can purchase an individual annual membership for $15 but this is not necessary to attend their quarterly in person book sale. You do get early entry with membership though. But I really love using their website...in my experience, ALL of the books in store are on the website. My sister and I differ greatly in that respect...she loves the in person sales and just likes to browse and find hidden treasure. I go by reviews and recommendations so searching and buying online is so much easier for me. You can only pick up your purchases at certain times and days of the week, so definitely check their website for details. All of the volunteers (?) I've interacted with have been absolutely lovely. They're so kind and knowledgeable. And if they don't know, they will find out. Last time I I got home after picking up an order, I realized that one of the books they've given me was wrong. I emailed them and they replied told to just keep the book and refunded me my money. I went today to pick up another order and the book that they were supposed to give me last time was there! No charge! That is some excellent customer service. I've been pleasantly surprised at some of books I've found. Most if not all have been in excellent condition. I'm so thrilled to support them especially since they support our library!!!
