My wife has beautiful hair and she enjoys washing it with a quality shampoo. Usually, on gift giving occasions, I include a new shampoo and or conditioner as a special treat. I discovered, you can buy some top quality hair care products on line or at other outlets - often at a price lower than what's going on here at Bluemercury. I went here recently to get advice, expert recommendations and friendly service. I went in for a gift for my honey and was shown a few interesting products. I went a little crazy and bought $100 worth of exotic potions and conditioners. While I shopped, a young couple came in, immediately got much better service and attention and, after buying a few things (I think they spent about $30) got a handful of free samples. When I checked out, I received no free samples and, despite knowing that I was buying gifts, they didn't offer gift wrapping or a gift bag. Hmmmm? Not sure why... These folks have lots of nice products, but they sell stuff at list price. I can save money by going elsewhere so when I shop in a high end shop, I expect the service to compensate for the higher prices. I'm disappointed that these folks miss that point. I'll probably stop back for a quick gift if I get desperate but I'm not going to become a regular unless the staff gets with the program. Recommended? You make the call... read more

I love the items they stock at bluemercury, so it is a shame that the staff are not helpful and unfriendly. When you compare this store to it's "peers"- Ulta and Sephora, it comes out looking very poorly in those areas. I have been to this location a number of times, but unless I have no other choice, I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

Bluemercurys in Manhattan do have a real problem with staff. Officious, to the point it's uncomfortable walking in. BUT I've been here twice and found the employees in Morristown very helpful, especially with color matching. They didn't upsell me (I hate upselling ugh) but helped me choose exactly what I wanted. In general I like that it's smaller, carries brands I like, less "trendy teen" and more "working woman" like myself. Sephora feels like H&M sometimes, too frenetic, I find Bluemercury relaxing :) read more

Meghan doesn't work there anymore (she's at B Polished, for anyone wondering; I'm now going there) and I'm changing my rating because the store tried to dupe me into coming in for an appointment I made before she left WITHOUT telling me she wouldn't be there. As I said below, I don't live nearby, and I am livid that they didn't care at all about wasting my time. If I had shown up to find some stranger, I would have freaked out--as I suspect someone did, because they then called me back the next day all casual, like, "Oh yeah, and Meg won't be in." I've been going here for maybe five years (I used to live locally) and have moved approx. 87 times but ALWAYS went back here for Meghan. She's the only person who has never torn my skin off, burned me, made my brows uneven/too thin, etc. She takes her time, listens, and explains what she's doing. On top of being great at what she does, she's the sweetest person ever. I've had people tell me $25 for a brow wax is too expensive, but for the reasons above (and considering how many traumatic experiences I've had) I'm happy to pay. Also, ever since I started going there, I only have to get waxed once every two months or so, which is CRAZY. I don't know what kind of wax she uses but whatever she's doing, it works. Most people tell me they get waxed at a hair or nail salon and it's like $8-$12 but they're going more often than I am, so it really makes no difference. The five stars is really for Meghan, but the store and spa are very nice. It's always clean and the people at the desk are usually friendly (there seems to be a lot of turnover, but I have been going for so long that perhaps it's to be expected). I wish they had a customer loyalty program. They had NARS artists there when I went a couple of weeks ago (and they have events frequently, which is nice). NARS is one of my favorite brands and part of me wanted to try some new things with the professional makeup artist, but I knew I wouldn't buy anything there because I want to spend my money at Sephora to get the points. Yay! I usually shop at Sephora but I needed to purchase a foundation without SPF (to wear for flash photography events) and since Blue Mercury is just 5 minutes from my office, I drove over here during my lunch break. I was immediately greeted by an employee who was eager to help and quickly suggested one of her favorite foundations. She removed a bit of my makeup from my cheek to swatch a few shades. And then, to make sure I didn't leave the store with half a face of complete makeup and half a face of just foundation, she spent some time adding a bit of blush and bronzer. It was quite nice. Just an FYI, if you're curious, I ended up getting the Trish McEvoy Even Skin Foundation (which I love). They also carry Diptyque candles and a bunch of other random goodies, so it's now my go-to for buying great last minute gifts. I also have to give the girls props because they popped a bunch of samples of random makeup and beauty products in my bag, even though I only purchased the foundation. read more

Came here a week ago for a waxing - and honestly they were THE. BEST. I used to go to a salon in Morristown, this place was closer - and I'm so glad I tried it! They were so kind and wonderful. Went here to get waxed by Meagan on a referral. She was fast, and virtually painless. Not a hair left! I used to get waxed by this lady who has since moved back to Brazil, so I was used to paying $30 for a Brazilian. I didn't realize Blue Mercury was a spa until I got there, but since I already had the appointment I figured I'd 'splurge' and get it done anyway. (I was assuming I would pay over $100 for this service at a spa.) It was only $55! Will definitely be going back. read more

Went into Blue Mercury (Denville NJ location) to get advice on my foundation color. Felt that I looked pasty. Danielle said my foundation color was wrong and asked if she could do a quick makeover . I told her I only had 5 min. 5 min later, I looked like a new person! Skin was dewy, glowing, and very natural looking. The best makeover I ever got! Bought a primer, CC cream, bronzer, lipstick, and brush. I highly recommended going to Danielle for a makeover if you want an honest evaluation and natural looking results! read more

I get my eye brows waxed here. Megan is great. She's always been very friendly and takes the time to get to know you. The prices are a bit high but she does such great work that I don't mind paying. They carry lots of great name shampoos and makeup for when I just want something really quick. I like that they carry my shampoo and conditioner which I cannot find anywhere else.. read more

Unfortunately this location is one of the worst. The staff is extremely rude. I went to an event and spent $$$ on makeup and brushes and the sales girl wouldn't answer my questions and literally said "I'm not getting this sale so I don't have time to answer your question". Visited several times recently and found many of the items I needed with the help of the store folks. The store is nice and has all the items I need plus I didn't have to search all around counters by myself to find what I need. I was especially searching for a vitamin treatment for my face and I was helped by someone that knew this subject inside out. It turned out that she knew alot about most of the products (ingredients, what worked and what did not...) so I found a few more things that I needed and have been delighted with the results. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for expert advice on any skin problems. They have a spa too and you can get facials and waxings. I plan to try them soon for that and will write again once I have something to report! read more

Went for a facial since they participated in Spa Week! and was pleasantly surprised!! It's not a spa spa (no showers, steam, etc) but you still get a great spa experience. My esthectician Evie was awesome...took the time to understand my skin and the problems I have and did an amazing job. I will definitely go back!! read more

I had a Pretty Woman experience at Blue Mercury this past Saturday. One employee was consulting a client on make up and another was ringing up a client at the counter. As I browsed the Kiehl's products, I realized the Formula 133 I sought was not on the wall. I proceeded to wait behind the client being rung up so that the cashier could get the product from the back or confirm whether or not it was in stock. After nearly 5 minutes of waiting (with two trips to the back for free samples for the wealthy client and her humongous Louis Vuitton bag) it was finally my turn. What does the cashier do? Look straight past me and to the woman standing behind me holding something to purchase to ask how she can help. I was flabbergasted! Just because I was not HOLDING a product to purchase she assumed I was not worth the time to be serviced. Apparently my Banana Republic bag and un-made up face gave her impression that I was not there to spend money. I will never step foot in this establishment again and will share my money with the big box department stores who are happy to help me. read more

I went there today during my lunch break and I have to say they were awesome I got a complete Makeover by Dayra she was so awesome - she explained everything I was introduced to a new line of products I have not used before Trish McEvoy totally awesome considering I travel a lot it was the perfect line for me.
