Called this morning to see if they had a specific Ogee product. Drove from laguna beach got there in the early afternoon and they didn't have the product in stock when i arrived. I love this store, you could not pay me to step into a Sephora, I feel physically ill and overwhelmed the times I have stepped inside. Welcome to Blue Mercury a small well curated makeup shop of all my favorite brands! I've been to all the Blue Mercurys in the area and this is my favorite. Service is knowledgeable and polite. They don't try to push you to certain brands or talk up a product that won't deliver. I told them I was not a fan of their highly popular C Ferrulic and they recommend an alternative that is one of my daily facial regimes. Do not buy from Bluemercury. I purchased Supergoop sunscreen and it arrived with an expiration date within 5 months. I contacted customer service and they said they're not able to guarantee expiration dates, despite Supergoop saying it's usually 2 years. Apparently business is slow and they're selling old products. read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. I've had great experiences where the staff are helpful and know how to give me space when I need it. But the most recent visit was just super uncomfortable. One of the sales associates at this particular location is very pushy. I came in just to look around, but with the intention of making a purchase, and used some testers. The sales associate asked me multiple times if I was just "looking around" and it felt like she was keeping tabs on me/watching me as if I just came in to use testers and leave. Well - her behavior did, in fact, make me leave! To managers: do some retraining with this person. Very tall, blonde hair with many layers, maybe in her 40s. Honestly, the WORST experience I've had in a long time. I called in advance the day I planned to come in to ensure they had the item in stock and so I wouldn't waste a trip. They said they would set the item aside. When I arrived, there was a note on the door saying they would be back 45 minutes later. No one warned me that would happen, and it was a total waste of time. When I came back a couple days later to pick up the item, I called to make sure the store wouldn't be closed randomly as it had been the time before. I got the greenlight, only to come in to be told the item was now entirely out of stock. Two wasted trips and absolutely horrendous customer service. HORRENDOUS. read more

I made an appointment for a facial which was a gift. I showed up and they informed me they tried calling me (they wrote down the wrong phone number... try getting a confirmation in the future). Drove to the west side for this facial, didn't realize this was a chain.... to show up and find out my esthetician left early for an emergency. I was super understanding life happens. Well today I drove cross town again for Ari and my nail appointment a block away ran over and there was no room for accommodation just said they are booked up sorry try other blue mercury. I did try no luck. The phone etiquette was rude. Very disappointed especially after what happened to my first appointment. You would think Ari might have made note of this. I am the rare shopper that finds California style customer service overwhelming, if not down right annoying. I prefer not to be interrupted every five minutes. "HI!" "WE HAVE PLENTY OF NEW ITEMS!!" "WHAT ARE LOOKiNG FOR!!" "ISN'T THAT FABULOUS!!"..... Judging by most reviews and by the behaviors of other shoppers, I am in the minority. It seems most people like this type of customer service. With that in mind, I try not to give poor reviews when this happens. However, in the case of Bluemercury I am making an exception. I should not need to say three times within 15 minutes that I do not need assistance. The only benefit to shopping here is to avoid the crowds on 3rd street or to avoid the parking hassles at Century City. read more

She answered all my questions and made relevant suggestions--when asked (key point). Oh-most-definitely, NOT a friendly place to be. Being a local, the service here was rude. I was out and about for a new bronzer. I heard that Laura Mercier had a good one. I ask for help and the makeup artist at Laura Mercier was extremely rude. She was completely unhelpful with the color choices. I'm a 36 yr old woman who has been using a bronzer for quite a number of years. This makeup artist treated me as if, I am some sort of a peasant. What did she do? She took a brush and wash my entire face with the bronzer. I would rather go through the crowd @ the promenade and work with the service @ Sephora. If this was a friendly place, it would have saved me from the traffic and drive to the promenade. read more

I had a wonderful experience here, thanks to my esthetician, Magdalena. She was outstanding: professional, kind and completely versed in the science of skin care and specific products for my skin. She has educated me in all of this. I have been in situations where I feel subtly pushed to buy a product, but this was not the case. Magdalena is intuitive and smart and her focus is on helping you achieve your best result. Overall, the products are reasonable, and I shop here because of the goodwill and relationship generated by Magdalena and the staff. I I love the oxygen facial and it is also very reasonable. I went into this store in February of 2017. I was on an unexpected extended layover from Boston to New Zealand. My skin was going through some serious hormonal breakouts around my chin and I was in desperate need of a new foundation or tinted moisturizer that wouldn't break me out or look caked on. I also had to hide my facial redness. I went in here and was helped by a nice young man that works here. I explained to him that I was in a rush because I was waiting for a table at the restaurant across the street. Not a problem for him. He completely re-did my whole face of makeup in 15 minutes making my skin and makeup look amazing. It was not in my budget to buy every product he used, but I would have if I could. I left with the product I needed and then got complimented by a stranger shortly afterwards on how my skin looked amazing and glowy. I wish I remembered the guy's name, but know he was from the New England area too. Thank you for making me feel happy and more comfortable in my skin again. I'm only taking 1 star off because the woman that rang me up accidentally gave me the product in the wrong color. I didn't realize this until I got to New Zealand and so I was not able to use the products for about 3 weeks until I got back to the States and could exchange it for my correct color. It would have been nice to have the product to use on vacation. However, accidents happen and she was nice so not the end of the world. read more

I've been in Blue Mercury several times. I live blocks away and would love to have a go-to store for my makeup closer to home than Sephora. but unfortunately this is not the place. Whenever I come in the staff is rude, they do not offer to help you. It seems as if the store is more of a social place for co-workers to gather than a business that has any customer service. They just sort of look at you as you walk around, making you feel uncomfortable but don't offer to help with whatever you are looking for. Last time I was in there I wanted to buy a lipliner but after being ignored for awhile I just walked out. Similar scenario today, they are socializing, don't care to help and they don't seem to have proper familiarity with their product line when they do finally help. Please tell me why you need 6 people working in your small store, and they can't even get customer service right. it seems like maybe they make an "assumption" that you wont buy and then decide how they will treat you. Its incorrect though, I'm obsessed with makeup, I love to buy, just not when customers are not valued. read more
