I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the staff members -- an older woman with short hair and glasses. When I walked in, she didn't acknowledge me at all. Even though she was helping another customer, she could have simply said, "Hi, I'll be right with you." I stood near the item I needed for several minutes, but she continued to ignore me as if I wasn't there. Eventually, I decided to leave. She didn't even say "Thank you for coming in" or anything as I walked out. I would recommend saving your time and energy and not visiting when she is working. I've shopped at Bluemercury Bridgeport for years--it has always been my go-to for Chantecaille products. Unfortunately, the service has consistently been hit-or-miss. Some visits, the employees were extremely helpful; other times, not so much. There were occasions when I left with everything I came in for, and more. Other times, it was clear assistance wasn't a priority, so I chose to purchase my items at Nordstrom instead. Over time, the inconsistent service led me to visit less frequently. I recently stopped by Bridgeport intending to shop at both Sephora and Bluemercury. I noticed that Chanel had moved into Bluemercury's previous location and asked where Bluemercury had relocated. After finding the new store, I walked in and found it empty except for three employees who appeared to be chatting. They stopped talking and stared at me, but no one offered assistance. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere. I browsed the Chantecaille section but couldn't find the Corrector Pen I was looking for, so I asked for help. I was briefly told they didn't carry it and to check the Portland location. I also asked about SK-II products, items I've previously purchased there was given the same dismissive response. There was no effort to find a replacement product, offer to order the items, or to provide any meaningful assistance. Between the limited inventory and complete lack of customer service, the experience was unacceptable. I will no longer be shopping at ANY Bluemercury location. read more

So the store manager, Shayla, was to give me a contour lesson to make my bulbous nose tip appear smaller, just the tip because my bridge is super skinny. I told her I wanted to use a minimum amount of makeup, she said that was no problem. But she layered on so many powders and creams, I must have had half a dozen things on my entire face. The problem was that she was so sloppy, there was makeup even on my ears! I told her, my earrings can't get makeup on them. She said casually, just clean them at home. Well I took them off once I realized what was happening, but it was too late :( They had powder in them and you can't remove that. There are tiny holes around the diamonds, and once you get junk in there, it is there to stay. I was so disappointed because they no longer make these earrings. That's why I bought 2 pairs. You can tell from my photo how cloudy the pair is now that I wore there compared to the clearer pair with more detail. They still sparkle but less. They were not inexpensive either. In real life the difference is much larger, it's tricky to capture with a camera. It has been so difficult to find earrings that fit everything I want, which these did :( I wrote an email on October 12 to Blue Mercury customer service and I called the store too. At the store level Kimberly took down an "incident report," but she didn't seem to take it so seriously. She claimed I'd hear back. If you call their corporate customer service, it's just a voicemail, and they don't return calls. They have all my personal info; full name, email, address, phone #, and nothing has happened.I did get an automatic email response that my issue was resolved. Really?!?! That's news to me! How was it handled!? lol. No compensation, not even an apology! I went as far as to email the founder on Nov 9, Marla Malcolm Beck, no response. At this point I was more frustrated about being ignored than anything else. Apparently she is still very directly involved in the company even after selling it to Macy's for 8 figures. Not sure why Macy's couldn't just get those makeup lines themselves, they were in existence way before Blue Mercury began, and no doubt they would appreciate being in Macy's. I should mention that she did not make my nose tip appear smaller. On youtube videos they do succeed with even larger tips than mine, I just can't be using a trillion products. You guys know their all toxic anyway right? I try to minimize my use. She did however tell me I had "a lot of real estate up here" referring to my forehead she was using a brush to cake many makeup layers on. I then joked, is that another way of saying I have a large forehead, but she didn't say anything lol. Sephora has the same overpriced toxic stuff, if you need it, just go there, at least the service is usually good. I just don't really go anymore. But I know if something like this happened there, it won't be ignored. read more

The customer service here is rather snobby. I was searching for a hair product and was largely ignored. Two employees were idly chatting with each other the entire time I searched. At one point I made eye contact with one of them, who sized me up and must have determined I was not worth his breaking away from his important conversation to actually offer help. I told my friends about this store and then today I went in to buy product. I was told they no longer accept cash! I actually get the corporate mentality as I myself own small retail stores. I cannot thank Jessica at Bluemercury enough. My skin was in really bad shape severe pigmentation, absolutely dull. I had tried many other brands before I went in to Bluemercury Jessica had just the right products for me. She did not thrust any products upon me but really picked out what was right for me and these products actually worked and the results did not go away after a few days. (This review is for the store only, I haven't been to the spa). I'm a makeup junkie and spend a ton of money on skincare and cosmetics. I was pretty excited when I heard about this new shop opening at Bridgeport. I went in later at night and it was a bit slow. Thank goodness, because I don't think one could browse easily with more than a few people inside. The brands were just what you'd find at Nordstrom or Sephora, but the shopping experience was not nearly as good. I like to swatch and try things on before I commit to a $30+ lipstick or eyeshadow, but the store isn't really set up for experimentation. I did swatch a few shades, but couldn't find makeup remover anywhere, nor was I offered any (even when the salesperson saw me struggling to get lipstick off my hand). The salesperson was so stinkin' pushy and wouldn't let me look in peace. If I say I don't need blush, don't keep harping about how I need to buy a blush to go with my new lipstick. I was pushed everything from candles to blush to holiday sets to skincare, even though I said I just wanted to browse. I'm guessing they work on commission, but this was extreme and totally obnoxious. Also, the person checking out next to me was loaded down with samples and freebies, probably because they spent more than I did (I get that, I know how life works). But my sales lady was clearly panicked that I was going to want some too and kept worriedly glancing over at her coworker, who was making her customer giddy with all the free stuff. I felt really awkward and even though I wasn't expecting a goody bag of samples, I do think it was tacky she didn't even offer me one tiny little sample of anything. Especially when there was a giant jar of samples directly behind the counter and I was still spending a decent amount of money on one thing. Needless to say, I left feeling annoyed and wondered why I spent my money there, when I could have racked up some points at Sephora or had a nice consultation at Nordstrom or Blush in NW. Nothing about the product presentation, variety, or customer service entices me to return. Brianna, an esthetician here, really knows what she's doing. I didn't feel like I was just "in and out" when I was getting waxed, like I've experienced at other places. I actually felt like she listened to my concerns about my massive eyebrows and acne. She told me about some products that were specific to my concerns, and didn't just shove the most expensive thing down my throat. I was amazed that she actually knew about every little ingredient in the products. It's nice to encounter people these days who actually take pride in their work and clients. read more

This review is based on the spa services I had with Brianna Garcia. I had a modern facial ($95 for 50 minutes) and have NEVER had a better facial. Brianna really took the time to find out what my skin concerns were, and what I was trying to achieve. She customized the perfect blend of products to suit my skin type, and explained to me why she chose the ones she did. At this point she could put whatever she wanted on my face because I felt completely confident that she knew exactly what she was doing. You can really sense her passion for what she is doing and her excitement when she is talking about products she loves. During the facial she cleansed, toned, masked, and massaged (20 mins!!) me until I pretty much fell asleep. At the end of my service she did an oxygen treatment which I learned eliminates all bacteria from your skin. Pretty amazing. Also THE WAXING. YES. You can trust her with your brows + any other area. Added bonus: she is super quick! Basically, you need to go and see Brianna. She will hook your skin up, and you'll be so thankful you found her. read more

I Went in today to spend some money on new makeup as I needed a complete refresh. I've had a rough few weeks, and was excited to go in and pamper myself. There were two girls working, and no other customers in the store. One girl looked at me several times, but did not acknowledge me. The other girl who eventually helped me, showed me one style of lipgloss, and then when I asked for eyeshadow recommendations, she handed one to me and said "you can use your finger" to try it on - No offer to apply it or to have fun with different colors or styles - which I had mentioned I was curious about. I bought the two items reluctantly (however would have bought so much more if my experience was better). And as the kicker - when I was leaving I did not receive a "thank you", but merely a "here's your bag". I'm going to return the items tomorrow. So disappointing. They should focus on better customer service considering they have better competition all around them. Will not be back. read more

Well my experience that I documented originally was bad, but the way the district manager handled it was amazing. I honestly expected my review to fall into the abyss and didn't think anything would come of it. The district manager reached out to me recently and was not only kind but embarrassed at how I was treated in the store. I can see that this location has had some similar bad reviews lately, so it's nice that they're trying to fix the problem. She asked if she could call to get more information, and we had a great phone conversation. She acknowledged that the damage had been done, but she wanted to make it right. She asked what my favorite products were and sent me a package with some things for my mom and me, along with a handwritten note. My mom and I had both written the store off after that experience, but we will both be back now. If this is how their managers view customer service, then I have to believe I will see that reflected in the store the next time I go as well. I'm impressed, and I'm a Bluemercury fan once again. read more

I have been going to this location for a few years and my recent visit was by far the best experience I've ever had. Angel was honest, kind, and personable and made me feel very comfortable. The rest of the staff was also very approachable, professional, and knowledgeable. Since I've started going here, I've never received bad customer service. Each time I've walked in I've been acknowledged, asked if I needed any help, and most importantly I've always had fun with the staff. I've walked out of there with great skincare items, beautiful makeup and always feeling like a million bucks. read more
