Lots of parking! The sake selection was great also. Service was friendly. The Nigiri at the chefs counter was some of the best I've had. We sat at the sushi counter which is what I like and got to watch the care and attention the chefs put into what they do!

Nice sushi spot in Newport Coast. They have a delicious set menu for OC restaurant week. Lots of food and great flavors. Would be a good spot to return when in the area.

Have not been to Bluefin for a while but a girlfriend chose this for a lunch date due to its location in Crystal Cove. I was pleasantly impressed by the lunch omakase. Nice appetizer plate with 4 items, soup, sushi platter, and a dessert platter. The restaurant was cozy and intimate, located inside the Crystal Cove Shopping plaza.

Tried this sushi spot in Newport Beach while shopping. We tried the albacore, salmon and tuna and all were very fresh. The service was great. We loved the wine pairing. Casual ambience. Suitable for lunch or a date night.

Had a relaxed lunch at this great location with great food! Sushi and Sashimi were both very fresh and tasty. The desert was a true surprise! We will come back!

Hadn't been here for awhile but recently came for dinner and it pleasantly surprised me. Got a sushi special/ omakase and it was delicious. Everything was very fresh! Pacing was good, not rushed but not long waits between bites. Service was great but we were also the only ones in the restaurant (came around 8/830 on a weekday),

Lovely sushi restaurant located in the Newport Coast shopping center. Lovely setting very accommodating staff, great service delicious high-quality sushi. The lychee martini was especially delicious.. full bar. Delightful, it gets crowded so come early !

Small but well decor joint. Service is great & attentive. We sat outside instead of inside since it was a nice sunny evening. The foods are good, fresh and tasty. Prices can be on the low high end...especially due to location. It's also very close to the ocean and in a shopping center so plenty of parking.

    I love it

The sunset view from this restaurant is beautiful, and enjoying sushi while looking at such a scenery is absolutely wonderful. The omakase course is highly recommended. You will surely be impressed not only by the taste but also by the beautiful presentation.

While browsing through OC week, I stumbled upon this gem in Newport Beach called Bluefin. We were hoping to get the OC week menu, but it was only available for dinner. However, I spotted a lunch omakase for $60 each, plus tax and tip. It looked pretty similar to the OC week menu, but with a slight price bump which was still worth it. We started with an appetizer platter (had shrimp, tofu, crab tempura) then moved on to crudo, nigiri platter (with uni and toro), clam miso soup, Chilean sea bass, and concluded with an apple with ice cream dessert. Overall, the food was delicious, and the fish was fresh. We were pretty full after all that. The chef was friendly, but service could be better. Overall will definitely recommend trying and will be back!

Best sushi restaurant in Newport Beach period. We came here for OC Restaurant week and it was amazing! All the dishes were fresh and the perfect temperature and delicious. If you are ever in Newport Coast and craving sushi then this is the place. Happy Yelping!

Bluefin was so good. I've been wanting to check it out and it was worth going. My friend and I both got the omakase and I got the lychee margarita. The drink was delicious and my friend also enjoyed her drink. The omakase was so good. There was so much thought and preparation into each dish. Every dish that was presented was fantastic and need I say more about the taste. The flavors of all the dishes were AMAZING. The restaurant isn't too big so I would recommend making reservations. This plaza can get very packed because it's very close to Newport. This restaurant is worth checking out!!

LUNCH CHIRASHI for oc restaurant week
    Natalie Y.

Came to bluefin for oc restaurant week because they had a special $25 lunch! i got the chirashi which comes with miso soup, salad, and sashimi + seasoned rice. the fish were all excellent quality and very delicious! the seasoned rice was beautiful, colorful, and wonderfully flavored!! it had some sweet unagi sauce mixed in as well as some pickled ginger, if those flavors entice you! i thought it was just a little too sweet personally. But this lunch was a very good deal imo so I enjoyed my visit here!

The first table we were seated at was in the back near stored booster seats and had a strong odor resembling urine, which immediately put a bad taste in our mouths and required us to move. It was an unacceptable start and set the tone for the entire visit. Once we moved, the food did not improve the experience. Dishes were expensive yet severely under-portioned. Rolls were heavy on rice and sauce, and the fish was barely noticeable. The bluefin tuna with truffle oil was drowned in oil and lacking flavor. The spicy tuna rice cake was served cold, extremely small, flavorless, and hard. The Yellow Submarine roll was overly sauced and unbalanced. For nearly $200 at a restaurant that presents itself as high-end, the meal fell far below expectations. We left early, still hungry, and deeply disappointed. I truly wish someone had warned us.

Once we were seated I opted to get the Trust me menu while my husband ordered the trust me lite menu and the bluefin otoro. This was the perfect amount of sushi to start our day. Everything was delicious, my absolute favorite was the tuna and chutoro sashimi, but each piece of fish was amazingly delicious and fresh! You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

The ambiance shifts like a good relationship: warm and romantic after dark, bright and lively during the day. It exudes the "we're comfortable, but still trying" vibe. The salmon belly and sushi rolls? Fresh, delicious, and absolutely must‑order territory. Think of them as the reliable green flags of the menu.
