This park is also next to tennis courts or pickleball courts and a water park. Only downside of this place is that it's next to the main street, so it can get noisy at times.

Cute park!! It's tucked behind the trees, so the traffic noise from Byron Nelson Road isn't a…read morebother. You can definitely hear the train though, as it is right beside the pretty park. There are ample walking trails, a splash pad basketball court , tennis court, skateboard park, and plenty of green space for throwing a frisbee or playing with your furry pup! Today I noticed I was behind on my steps, so while little played on the playground I walked in circles around the splash pad. I doubt it is functioning right now being so late in the season, but I didn't even try to push the button. I recommend coming here and getting those steps and movement in! I would be tempted to have yoga in the park here, so calming.

My kids identify this as one of the best splash pads in the area, second only to Oak Hills Park in…read moreCarrollton (which they love because of the slides). It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. The rest of the park is BEAUTIFUL and well landscaped. I'm not sure what they use that massive pavilion for, but honestly I think it makes a case for a good wedding venue! If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list.

This sprawling park has paved trails with inner and outer loops spanning about three miles, plus loads of other amenities, including tennis courts, volleyball nets, a catch-and-release fishing pond, gazebos, and the well-crafted Eureka playground. There were already dozens of joggers, dog walkers, and parents with toddlers out and about at South Lakes by late Saturday morning in January, when the temperature had just nudged up to 50 degrees. Its convenient and safe, and I plan to be back often.

This is still the best park in Coppell, one that I have fond memories of riding through on my bike…read morein a weirdly out of place, well-forested wonderland meandering through and around Grapevine Creek. Today I took my kids through the trails in the park for the first time in over a decade and was nearly aghast at how much canopy the city has removed. It appears the 2019 creek stabilization project nearly ruined the pristine beauty of this park. I've attached satellite images of the park before and after the stabilization project, and you can see just how much canopy the city removed as part of the renovations. They have replaced what was a beautiful, rugged, meandering set of trails with a nearly straight shot through the park on the north edge, decimating the canopy in the process all for a boring, uninventive gravel path. It seems reasonable to expect that some amount of foliage would have to be cut back as part of the creek stabilization process, but what I'm seeing today seems excessive and like it was a stylistic choice to provide an inoffensive, plain suburban walking path through the park as part of the renovations. That would be fine if it hadn't nearly ruined the rugged, dense foliage that made the original trails and creek area an unheralded gem of Coppell. The good news is Hunterwood Park is undaunted and, despite the neutering, is still a great oasis in Coppell. I do fear for the upcoming additional stabilization efforts, though, and what some middle-management parks department bureaucrat might do to strip this park of its remaining majesty.

As a parent of a special needs child who is able to run pretty fast I really like the fact that the park is a fairly large distance away from the road. There's plenty of room to fly a kite on a nice day. There's plenty of spots to park in on the concrete lot so parking shouldn't be too bad perhaps even during softball games. There's a fairly new concession stand, covered pavilion and restroom all within one building. The town's website mentioned that the restrooms may not be opened at all times so I wouldn't depend on there being a restroom there. Today it was unlocked so we were able to use it and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was and the fact it was well stocked with much appreciated toilet paper which is always a bonus. There's 5 really nice softball fields each of which has a bleacher stand that has a much appreciated shade over the seats. The fields appear to be well maintained by the town and respected by those who use it. If you are into playing softball chances are it wouldn't be too difficult to find a team to join. Flower Mound Parks & Recreation should have a list of teams who meet at this park if you are curious. The park has two very nice playscapes with wood bark placed around them to soften any falls. There are slides and climbing walls along with a separate swing set. The smaller playscape is designed for younger kids from around 2 up to maybe 5 years old or so. The larger one is made for older children who aren't afraid of heights like my children are. The swing set has swings designed for babies along with the traditional swings we all know and enjoy. Around the play structures there are various rotating toys that kids can climb on and get nice and dizzy from going quickly around in circles. Best of all there are several park benches located close to the playscapes to allow parents to supervise their children while they play. Overall it's a very nice park that Flower Mound has built for everyone to enjoy. We will definitely be back when I need to wear my children out on days they have way too much energy. :)

The bathroom sign says it opened in 2024, yet the bathrooms themselves were locked on a Sunday, which, to me, screams "soft launch." That said, it's a pretty spot! Everything is fresh and well-maintained (because, again, it's basically brand new). The only catch? There aren't that many trails yet. We did all of them in about 30 minutes, which felt more like a warm-up than an actual hike. But I did some digging (i.e., read the website) and saw they're planning to add more trails in the future, so I'll be back when there's more ground to cover. As always, we picked up any litter we saw--because, folks, we live in a society. If you're out in nature, pick up your trash! Better yet, don't litter in the first place. Teach your kids, your friends, your dog (okay, maybe not your dog). Only saw one other pair of hikers while we were there, so for now, this spot is a hidden gem. But once it officially opens (whenever that is), they're gonna need a bigger parking lot.
