I love living in the midst of a wine region. There's always someplace new to discover. Some friends brought us here and we couldn't be more grateful. It Is a very small production with mostly outdoor seating in a lovely garden. We tried a flight then bought a bottle of an unoaked Chardonnay and a rosé that we liked. Dropped in on a Thursday afternoon with my wife & tried their whole line-up (14 wines! Ok, we split the tasting. :) It's a smallish place, but has great outdoor seating (dog friendly) & a nice view of the surrounding valley & hillsides. The wines ranged from good to great, both red & white. Many were made from grapes grown on the property, and others using fruit sourced from neighboring growers (plus a very nice syrah & syrah blend using wine sourced from WA). BlueBird Hill Cellars - Worth The Stop! This was our first trip to Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Unlike wine country in Napa for example not all wineries are open daily. After doing some research, I set up an appointment to taste at BlueBird Hill. It was amazing. We sat with Sue (one of the owners/winemakers) and learned all about how BlueBird Hill came to be and tried some terrific wines. We did a library tasting and also joined their wine club. I sincerely appreciate these smaller operations. The experience is genuine and the owners are passionate about what they produce! My wife and I had some extra time, so we decided to do a bit of wine tasting on our trip through Oregon. We decided to stop in at this nice location. We arrived early, before 12 noon, and decided to put our heads back. The proprietor Neal came out and asked if we were waiting to taste and we responded yes, and he said we are ready to serve anytime. We discovered that they serve you either at a shaded table or at one of the many chairs seated on the grassy slope. Our server Oola was perfect and offered us either a flight or a glass. We loved all of the wines tasted and left with two bottles. read more

This is a special place, from the views to the wine to the hosts and the B&B. Everything about BlueBird Hill is wonderful. Neil and Sue Shay have created a lovely destination where you can enjoy a quiet afternoon with a picnic lunch or one of their cheese and cracker selections or an overnight stay with a great breakfast. Their wines are developing into some of the best wines of this part of the Willamette Valley. I'm loving their new white blends, Duology and Trilogy as well as their amazing Pinot Noirs. I had the unique opportunity to both stay and taste the wine at BlueBird Hill Farm & Cellars. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. They have two rooms that they rent out of their beautiful large rural home that is set on top of a hill with amazing views overlooking their fledgling vineyard first planted in 2013 and area mountain peaks. The home is picturesque and the rooms cozy. There is a lovely wrap around porch where you can take a sit and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset, or relax inside in the beautiful downstairs living room area. The sunrises here are phenomenal and worth getting up early for. Their dog will be the first to greet you and provide you companionship while welcoming the start to a new day. The bathroom is shared, but quite large and spacious. The breakfast in the morning is continental and delicious. They graciously accommodated my food sensitivities. I just mentioned it to them while I was booking my stay online from their website. The area is growing and has several wineries within a short distance. This is the perfect place to relax and take a breath to escape the business of life. Neil and Sue are the owners and Bobby Moy is the winemaker. Neil and Sue are amazing hosts and I felt like I was saying goodbye to new friends after our stay. I enjoyed some lovely conversations with Sue while hearing about their passion for the area and wine. Definitely be sure to take time and enjoy their tasting flight for a nominal fee. Their wines are fantastic! Their Pinot Noir was elegant, and definitely tasted like the Burgundy style Pinot Noir that Oregon is famous for. The 2014 Barrel Select Pinot Noir, 2015 Chardonnay, and 2015 Walnut Ridge Pinot Gris were my favorites. I now follow their news and websites and wish all the best for Neil & Sue. My wife and I, along with my brother and his wife enjoyed a wonderful stay here last week. The owners names are Neal and Sue, they are very pleasant and friendly people. Sue makes yummy breakfasts in the morning that you will love. Each breakfast we had was healthy but not the kind of healthy where flavor takes a back door. We slept in upstairs rooms with very comfortable rooms and comfortable beds. I'm often times nervous about sleeping on other beds, wondering if my back will hurt, it did not, that was a blessing. For easy access, the bathroom upstairs is fully stocked with whatever you may need. A pleasant surprise is that in the bathroom cabinet there is a tray holding a coffee maker and all you'd need for a good morning cup of coffee or in my case tea. This may sound odd but Sue picked out great towels for the bathroom. They were huge! But then, I'm 6'6" so they were great. Both Sue and Neal are very interesting to talk with if you're a conversationalist. They run a winery with some great tasting wines. If you want a quiet, out of the way place to stay on your way through Oregon, I can't recommend Blue Bird enough. Thank you somuch Neal and Sue. read more

They currently source their fruit from other vineyards (because they're so new), but I'm really looking forward to trying products made from their own fruit within the next few years. Having never, in my 66 yrs, stayed at a B&B I was a bit nervous about "stepping on toes" Not to worry - Neil and Sue are wonderful hosts and super-nice people. We had a wonderful, relaxing time wine tasting at their beautiful vineyard home, and hiking-exploring the surrounding areas. Their breakfast spread is lavish and on our last day there, Sue made an extremely tasty banana nut bread. After my own heart they throw open windows (as weather allows) to let the wonderful hill breezes blow through. My fav wine - their Pinot Gris, my partner Chuck's, a 2016 Pinot Noir straight from the barrel (not bottled yet but we will obtain next year) We are already planning on a Fall trip. It just doesn't get any better - sitting in a rocker on the front porch with a wonderful glass of wine. I must say, personally, I prefer the small wineries - cozy, informative and you feel you've made friends. And, being a dog person, Gus is a sweetie who guided us in our walks around the vineyard. A must do folks! The bedrooms are cozy, quiet and the shared bath - everything one could possibly need in a pinch. read more
