We were so excited to visit the smallest Irish bar in Dublin, but the experience ended up being…read morereally disappointing. We got our drinks without a problem, but then we watched the bartender refuse service to an older lady and her three friends -- who didn't even seem to be drinking yet -- saying the bar was closed. She politely asked for just one beer to share, even saying they'd drink it quickly, and he still refused. A few minutes later, someone else came up asking for a Jack Daniels "to drink fast," and he laughed and poured it without hesitation. Then another girl asked for two Guinness, and despite claiming the bar was closed, he said, "How can I say no to that?" and served her. Watching the older lady get singled out like that felt awful and unfair. On top of that, the bathroom was disgusting -- no toilet paper, no paper towels, and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up. Definitely not clean. We came here excited, but it wasn't worth it at all. Just a few doors down there's a fantastic place with great service that was far better than this experience. Sad one person can make her break a place.

The place is dimly light throughout, so whether you come here daytime or night, you get the same experience... Candles make up most of the ambience in here, very inviting! Staff are always friendly, greeting you with a smile and always happy to accommodate you whether it's an intimate table for 2 or a group booking. There is often live music, whether it's a piano player or live singer/band it makes for a nice drink spot at the weekends. Also great for a pre or post dinner drinks! Place offers a full bar so you can get all the usuals you'd expect of a bar however this place is also doing some fantastic things with their cocktail menu... Some interesting and very unique drink concoctions plus let's not go with calling out their unusual presentations, I just got served a gin cocktail in a bathtub with a rubber duck... Was called Bathtub Gin Time which is a serving for 2, oh my it was yummy and refreshing plus topped with a lavender and rose foam, it literally smelled like a freshly run bath tub! I love to visit here and always recommend it to my friends, am excited to tick off another drink from their cocktail menu very soon! Build your own Mimosa sounds appealing, so that might be the next one.

On warm nights it's the perfect place to sit outside with a pint and a few friends (or in the afternoons with a paper) to soak up those rare good weather days. There's live music throughout the summer (probably the whole year, but I'm only interested in this place when the weather's nice) that's got a pretty passionate following. For visitors stopping in when things are quiet and little colder, the pub's rich wood interiors and OMP* can be just what the publican ordered after a weekend elbowing through the crowded pubs in town. I've heard complaints about The Villager's lack of offerings (the TV is usually off unless it's match day), but sometimes all you need is a bit of quiet and a cold drink. *Old Man Pub

Decent old man pub downstairs. Nice outdoor area to catch the rays both to front of pub and back! Upstairs a very decent cocktail bar with good quality excellently mixed cocktails! Great selection cocktails all priced reasonably. The decor is good going for a shabby chic vintage look. Staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Comfy Chesterfield couches a plenty. Complimentary board games and quiz cards to keep you entertained if you are that way inclined. Free biscuits too. They also unexpectedly have a laser machine for those allergic to carrying cash ;) What more can I say venture in and try! You won't be disappointed.

Cozy interior and ultra friendly, and hilarious, staff. Everything was delicious. However the real stand out for me was the beer battered huge cod fish and fresh cut thick chips. There is an abundance of take away or fried fish & chips here in Ireland. But this, it was excellent. Pair w a properly poured Guinness and watch some football at the bar. It has a classy vibe but is casual. I had a Cabernet that was good for 6 euro and served in a proper wine glass. For dinner I had the shrimp and crayfish pil pil which is a spicy Spanish dish with a garlic oil and chili sauce and it was incredible! So flavorful with a great heat. I was blown away. Hubs had the Irish Beef and Stout pie and it was also delicious! The gravy was thick and full of mushrooms, while the pastry on top was light and flaky. We were so surprised at the quality of cuisine presented in this tiny village- and at a great price! If you're staying nearby (we were at the Powerscourt and looking for something a bit more reasonable) this is an excellent choice. Just down the road off the main village square. I think we will probably return tomorrow again!

The atmosphere was perfect! It was early Sunday morning, and there were already a few locals inside having their morning beer and reading the newspaper. I did some exploring because it looks so small on the outside, but you get in, and it just keeps going and going. Looks like they get large crowds during the evenings, and even offer lots of live music and DJs. The bartender was friendly.

So when you pass thru Trim to see the Castle, call in to this gorgeous pub. When you walk in, it is old school classic pub with beautiful woodwork and bar. From there, you can go in the cozy fireplace room that feels and looks great and leads to another cozy area to meet and be with friends. If you like patios, you're at the right place! Step out back and find a covered & climate controlled patio that is huge! They have a large smoking patio area (you can't smoke inside in Ireland either). Thru the patio, you can see a big events room that you can host a reception, party, meeting, whatever. It's been a few months since my last visit, but I've heard they have a new beer garden too! Oh yes, the drinks...the Guinness is perfect. You can get almost any tasty beverage here from a nice bartender. The owner is hands-on and always working to keep this place top notch.
