I just stayed there with my best friend. When we got back to our room our AC all of sudden stopped working and we smelled smoke. We ran downstairs and the maintenance guy came up. We had to open our windows. The next morning we spoke to Elaine and she said she needed to speak to the owner. Blue Waters is a great place to stay after an awesome day exploring Ocean Beach. The room for 4 with 2 double beds, (not as soft as could be for this 55yr old grandma but) , a refrigerator , and sliding glass doors that open directly into the rooftop deck is fun to share with friends where free breakfast is always served - the food was delicious and varied. We stayed here this past weekend and it was excellent. Great location, right off the ferry. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment. It was very nice and extremely clean. The hotel provides beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. You can also make use of their bicycles, but we enojes walking around town and down to the beach. The hotel has a great restaurant attached, The landing , which has excellent food...and really great drinks. The Hotel also has a wonderful candy and ice cream shop with some of the best ice cream ! We also got to meet the Hotel owner, Harvey, who is most definitely one of the kindest person that I've met. We had some much fun and relaxed... just the perfect weekend escape! read more

Stayed and the entire time the area wreaked of kitchen sewage, the furniture in the house was cheap, things like apple juices and pantry items left out IN THE SUN from the hotel no thank you ! My husband and I recently stayed at the Blue Waters Hotel and LOVED it! I was skeptical at first based on the comments but I am glad we decided to go with this place. The booking process is completely over the phone/mail. The deposit check must be mailed to the hotel in order to get a confirmation. Given that we live in a mostly digital world, this seemed antiquated but was not that bad looking back at it. The check in process is very easy. The hotel is very close to the ferry. The staff is very friendly and are quick to offer beach chairs/towels/bikes, all complimentary. The room is small but adequate. We were in our room very little so no complaints there. The only complaint I have is that the couple in the room next to us was fighting for some of the night but that is not the hotel's fault. Overall a great time and will definitely return. read more

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here and loved it!!!! People who are complaining haven't stayed at many places on fire island. Yes the room was small but it was clean and we had a beautiful view of the water. How long do you spend in your room anyway?! The roof deck is gorgeous and in the afternoon we would buy bottles of wine and hang out. The staff is very friendly. There are plenty of towels and beach chairs. We took the bikes to Ocean Bay Park all afternoon. All of the guests were awesome and we made quite a few new friends. We have also stayed at the Palms before but this place is cheaper and we enjoyed it much more! I'm going back in August!! read more

Do not stay here -- get an Airbnb, even if it's more expensive (which it won't be if you have three or more people contributing). You are paying over $200/night to stay in a room that makes the Lincoln Tunnel Motel seem spacious and luxurious. And beware of the MANDATORY $10 CASH GRATUITY when you check in. I wonder if the IRS is aware of this practice... The lady at the desk didn't seem very happy when I made her write out a receipt for this preposterous "cover charge". I ruminated over it for a while and realized that all the Managers are doing with this practice is robbing their actually-working staff of departing tips they otherwise would have received, had unwitting occupants not been robbed of ten-dollars cash from the get-go (I don't mean to imply that there was any cleaning service -- there wasn't). I guess I didn't hide my disgust at their blatant and shameless cash-grab, since I was put in Room 21... At 6AM the following morning, I awoke to some very loud thumping on the wall adjacent to the headboard of my bed. I was extremely tired and hungover, so I tried to sleep in. After ninety sleepless and progressively angry minutes, I stormed out of my room to round the corner and realize I shared a paper-thin wall with the working station of the hotel's "kitchen". When I asked the lady in charge of making the food to not bang every dish, pot, pan, and portable appliance at her disposable against the wall, she just shook her head - someone then informed me that she didn't understand English. So I said to her, "disculpame, pero me cuarto esta al lado de su cocina y yo tengo mucho sueno". She then became very apologetic, but the damage was done -- I was cranky all day. After all that, I became used to the very small, two-night-mandatory, half-the-cost-paid-at-the-time-of-reservation, single-window, moldy-smelling room that only contained one queen-sized bed and two small nightstands (NOT EVEN A CHAIR). I was just grateful that we were given soap, towels, and an air conditioner at this point. And it turned out we were lucky -- our friend in Room 16 had absolutely no hot water. On the second morning, I was not awoken by culinary thumping until about 8AM or so, which was fine since I had a ferry to catch to get far away from this place. Breakfast was exactly the same as the day before (not bad truthfully - cheesy eggs, cheesy scalloped potatoes, and cornbread). But I would sooner rent a buoy to cling to overnight in the Great South Bay before I would ever stay at this third-rate, price-gouging, flophouse again. This is Exactly what it says it is . Its a beach motel. Its not the renaissance or st regis . We were invited as guests by our friend who is spending the entire summer. It is literally a 90 second walk from the fire island ferry. It took us longer to get off the boat than get to the hotel. Its located right on the main street ... minutes from the restaurants / bars/ stores . Its like the times square of fire island. They provided beach chairs, umbrellas and towels so there was no need to shlep them from home. Every morning was a lovely breakfast on their rooftop garden . Coffee, fruit , a different bread each morning , pancakes , french toast ... etc. It was a nice calm way to start the day and relax . Breakfast was over at 11 , because the same staff that gives you breakfast , cleans your room. But we sat on the rooftop , enjoying the sun well into the afternoon ... later in the evening it was a good place to reconvene with friends and decide the next adventure . The downside ?? It is , a motel , despite the name ... there are no amenities ..., no pool, no gym, no coffee maker or fridge or desk in room. The room was clean but very small . The bed was not a sheraton sweet sleeper pillow top. The bathroom was also small , only one person fit at a time . It could definitely use an update / modernization . But lets be honest ... you do not go to fire island to sit in your room . You go to the room to shower and sleep . so it serves its purpose. Im definitely coming back as the location and rooftop can not be beat ... The staff is amazing , they do their best to please you . Check in is 3 pm , but they allow you to leave your stuff if you arrive early and go wander. Its s pretty good deal for the price and a nice get away. read more

My friends and I stayed at the Blue Waters Hotel for two nights this past August and had a mixed experience, thus the three star review. To begin, I have to say the reservation process was quite difficult, especially since deposits need to be made via check (rather than credit card), and yet upon check-in you MUST use a credit card because they won't accept checks then. This makes no sense to me and was a source of frustration during the planning phase of our trip. Additionally, at check-in, you need to leave a $5 per day gratuity in CASH, even if you choose not to have your room made up during your stay (because in order to have your room made up, you actually have to request it before noon each day). Needless to say, we asked for our room to be cleaned and refreshed. I was happy to find out that beach chairs, towels and bikes were available for free use during our stay. And the daily included breakfast was a huge bonus, as that was unexpected and quite the spread...we had French Toast the first day and Blueberry Pancakes the second day, amongst fruit, yogurt and other continental breakfast staples. The upstairs porch/deck area was quite lovely...you can sun there, play card games and pre-game before going out, and that is also where breakfast was served. Unfortunately, our room was RIGHT at the top of the stairs (#7) and the walls were so thin that we could hear everyone as they came in from partying both Friday and Saturday nights...ALL NIGHT LONG. If I hadn't been so exhausted the first night, I would have complained and asked for another room. I also had a lot of issues getting the WiFi to work...in fact, I never actually connected. I loved the location, which was so convenient to both the ferry and town plus the beach. And though the room was pretty simple, it was clean and comfortable (they just need thicker walls). I'd consider staying at the Blue Waters Hotel again, but I would absolutely request a room far away from the staircase. read more

STAY AWAY! I just returned home from my two night stay at apartment #3 And I couldn't be happier to be home! I am very upset with the accommodations. You should change the name from "luxury apartment " to Frat House!! The apartment was filthy!! The sheets had NEVER been changed! I found hairs in my bed and my daughter a fly and hairs as well. Let's not talk about the air conditioner in the queen bedroom!! How do you expect someone to sleep In That room with the noise it makes. The first night I didn't sleep at all between that and the banging on the outside door at 1:30 in the morning for the apartments upstairs and that awful sound from the air!! Not to mentioned I was so freaked out about the sheets I laid towels all over the bed to lay on. The second night I tried to sleep on the couch which I covered in towels because God knows who or what is on that couch!! I'm not complying about decor or dated furniture that is what it is but the stains on the curtains and dirty beds etc is totally unacceptable!! The floors were so dirty my socks are completely black on the bottoms!! Never in my life have I ever experienced anything like this. I am very upset and it ruined my vacation that I work very hard for!! I couldn't wait to get home This is NOT LUXURY! I think this hotel gets a very bad rap. I LOVED THIS HOTEL!!! I have been going to Fire Island for over 4 years and I know hotel's on the island are hard to come by. We were greeted in a very friendly manor and there was always ice cold lemon water in the lobby to drink. Our room was IMMACULATELY spotless and the beds were very comfortable. People complain about size, its a BEACH TOWN, we didn't spend much time in our room even when it rained. The staff sat with us and made some great suggestions for rainy day actives. We walked to Atlantique for reggae and a fun local scene, saw a new town and had a blast! The beach chairs and personal umbrella's were top of the line and comfortable. We were able to store our luggage for as long as we wanted on the day we checked out and change in the spacious personal bathroom in the lobby when we were ready to leave the island. The highlight of our stay was the huge breakfast they make for you!!!! You get to enjoy this breakfast on their roof deck that is simply beautiful. Homemade eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, fresh pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice and even blueberry pancakes made to order. A breakfast sandwich on the island costs $15 and a sit down breakfast is around $30 so this free breakfast saved us alot of money and was delicious. As a person who knows the island well and has traveled the world I would, without a doubt suggest this hotel. $5 for the maids? THEY DESERVE IT! ONE OF THE CLEANEST HOTELS I HAVE STAYED IN. If you can afford to stay on Fire Island you can afford the $5 tip. read more

Stayed at the Blue Waters Hotel this past weekend for a bachelorette party- there were 15 of us total. When checking in, they seemed a bit skeptical of a large party for such an event, likely because of a bad experience in the past. But, the process was easy and the ladies who checked us in couldn't have been nice all weekend. They gave us out own wing to keep the party together. The rooms came with one twin and one double bed. There were two small dressers and no closets. The one downside was the lack of hooks. We had a few over the front door but none in the bathroom. More would have been ideal. They have this gorgeous roof deck that has several couches and chairs. We spent a good amount of time here before going out at night. They had ice buckets for us to utilize and put our drinks in, which was great! They also served the complimentary breakfast on the deck. Breakfast was delicious and had a variety of options (and was great for hangovers). The hotel also offered beach chairs, towels and blankets if needed. We definitely took advantage of this and I was happy to know there were plenty of chairs for all. They also had bike rentals which i unfortunately didn't not try out. Lastly the people who worked there were so nice and helpful. On the second day they went out and got balloons and decorated a sign at the front door congratulating my friend on her bachelorette. Overall a massive disappointment. We stayed in the bayhouse apartments and here's the deal: Worst part: there were bugs!! Mosquitos, ants, bees and other unidentified flying insects. This place needs to be exterminated Bad: The staff are the least helpful or friendly people I've encountered in a while - they don't seem to care much about their customers. Their general attitude is that there aren't a lot of accommodations on this island and so they don't have to try very hard. The hot water ran out after two people showered on a single day. If you are between the ages of 21 and 25, enjoy washing down your breakfast with a refreshing Bud Light, are coming to Fire Island to party with 30 of your closest friends, don't care about hard mattresses or terrible showers or halls that smell of strong cleaning fluid - essentially, if you would have no qualms about staying in a youth hostel, this is the place for you. Otherwise, pay a little more and stay elsewhere. This was a hasty last minute booking for my husband and me, and if the weather had cooperated, it would have been an ok place to crash after snoozing on the beach all day. My husband cares more about accommodations than I do and unfortunately I didn't thoroughly vet this choice before committing us to it. We are in our late 30s - I saw 2 other 30s -40s ish couples staying here who also looked like they were possibly regretting their recent life decisions. Everyone else was a college aged kid. There is breakfast, but if it's raining, you have to eat said breakfast in your dismal little room because there is no indoor seating, only the roof deck (which is nice, I admit). There are bikes, but you can't take a bike for more than a couple of hours, so if you were planning to head further down the island to set up on the beach, there's really no point. You also can't bike in Ocean Beach proper on holiday weekends. Finally, a mandatory up front gratuity for housekeeping when no one even comes to make up your room during your stay (I learned after we checked out that you have to request this service, but we don't recall being told this) is not a gratuity but a service fee. Call it that. We get that you are mostly dealing with 20 year old knuckle heads who won't tip, but come on. Staff was nice and really we had no business staying here, so it's our mistake. If you're looking for a hotel, TURN AROUND. For over $300 a night, you get a bed, two nightstands, a tv with basic cable, a bathroom, and the smell of rotting walls and mold ALL IN ONE. The bad taste started when my mom had to call this place THREE TIMES to get a confirmation for our stay, and the third time calling, THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE OUR NAMES DOWN. Their apology was a tiny room right next to the kitchen so you're awake at 7am to the sounds of pots and pans banging through the super thin wall. My mom and I brought groceries with us thinking we'd be able to save some money, well think again! This place has no refrigerator and doesn't even have a microwave for you to use No drinking water, just ice... so we wound up having to toss all of our food and spent hundreds on food outside the hotel (which mind you, was gross) They charge you $10 a day for a "service charge" meanwhile our room was the way we left it every single day. The lady at the front desk was saving beach chairs for herself although they specifically stated that they were for the hotel guests, so we were without chairs at the beach for a day. ALSO, beach chairs are being left overnight without being cleaned. When I was able to get my hands on a chair I found myself with a brand new mug that was still left from the previous person. Knowing that there is a pandemic going on I'd expect there to be strict sanitation practice and there was not. My favorite time of my stay was leaving this hostel they call a hotel. You can tell they only care about your money, they didn't even say thank you when we checked out. My mom and I were so unhappy with our stay and I will be pointing everyone in the opposite direction if they ask me where to go onFire Island. read more

So we stayed at The Blue Waters Hotel over this past wknd, and while the place itself was ok, the customer service was awful. Upon all of us waking after the first night with neck and back aches, due to the flat and uncomfortable pillows, I went to the office to request new ones, I was told they don't have any other pillows to give us (what hotel does not have extra/spare pillows). When I told them the sham pillows were firmer, they told me to switch them. Well when I went to do that, they were stained and disgusting. Went back to office and asked again, I was told, very rudely, "what do you want me to do, go to the mainland and get new ones?" "Fine I'll find you new pillows". We'll never heard from them again, asked the cleaning girls to speak with Harvey, who apparently runs this establishment. Well Harvey never came! Rude rude people, like you're doing ME some favor. Remember, if it wasn't for US CUSTOMERS, YOU wouldn't exist or survive. This is amongst other rude responses or lack thereof, all for $2400.00 for a 3 day wknd! And a security deposit of $600 CASH!! Do not stay here unless you like being treated like a cash cow and nothing more. read more

My friends and I just stayed here recently for Memorial Day Weekend and it was perfect for what we wanted. We just booked it again for July 4th weekend! It is cute and quaint and the top deck where breakfast is served is very nice to have. The rooms were a decent size, but the only thing was that the shower was quite cold, even though the sink did get warm it was a little cold to shower in. But other than that the staff was friendly, the room was a good size, and the top deck is so nice! read more

Stayed at the blue waters hotel in room 12 which has a king size bed. The room was basic ( nothing on walls ) only one light which you have to leave on all night to come back to a lit up room because the light switch at the door is not connected. Also bring your own blow dryer because their isn't one. Aside from those two negative things the rooms were very clean. The tv, AC,the wifi worked, we had our own bathroom, our view was good and the room was quiet. Our favorite part was the outside deck which was nice and secluded and a perfect spot to hangout before going out. We were impressed with the breakfast spread (eggs, French toast, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, homemade corn bread which was my favorite, coffee and tea) which was served on the top deck between 930-11. This was huge for us considering we've stayed at both the Palms and Cleggs and didn't get anything close to this. I would recommend this place and will be back. Upon checking in, the hotel manager, Brenda, took my ID and asked to meet Kevin. He was he was out front with our bags & cooler. He came in and politely identified himself as a sailor. She assessed us both and said she couldn't allow us to stay there because we did not meet their minimum age requirement of 25. Kevin offered his credit card as additional security and assured her we would not cause any trouble. She told us that although she sympathized, she could not go against hotel policy and allow us to stay. My mom called and explained that Kevin had just returned from deployment and was just home for a short visit. She also requested an exception but Brenda said this an Ocean Beach law. (A former employee later reached out to my mom to tell her that age exceptions are made at the management's discretion. She actually quit because that was not the decision this time. She was disgusted by how this was handled) My mom then called the Ocean Beach Police Department to see if this truly was a law. The dispatcher assured my mom it was not a law, but a hotel policy. At my mom's request, a police officer went to the hotel to speak to Brenda on our behalf. She still refused to make an exception for us. The officer was appalled at her lack of respect for someone serving our country & suggested we make this known on social media as well as contact the Better Business Bureau to share our experience. Please take a minute and either post your thoughts on this to their page or give them a call and share your feelings. We were unable to reach the owner, Harvey, as Brenda refused to transfer our calls. Was immediately made to feel comfortable making our reservation with Elaine. Being this was our first time staying at Ocean Beach itself, we were unsure what to expect. Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome and wanted. We were happy to see our room was ready by one p.m. Was further glad to see our clean room- just the right size for us. We enjoyed the spacious deck for breakfast, lunch and to simply relax after a long day at the beach. We were again happy with the extent of the breakfast that is provided for free each morning- something for everyone! Was extra nice to enjoy all of the hotel amenities even after checkout (bikes, chairs and towels), as our belongings stayed secure in the lobby as we awaited our ferry ride home later that day. I frequently come to Fire Island and I stay in house rentals.This time I decided to stay at a hotel. When I stay at a hotel I expect the front desk to be courteous, happy and polite. This was not the case in this hotel. I dealt with an old lady with short brown hair that was just a rude miserable person. I thought it was me at first but then I saw how she spoke to other customers and employees I realized it wasn't just me. Clearly she needs to take hospitality and customer service classes. The website said bbq but when I went there, no bbq was on sight. I lugged all my food from the city for no reason. I even asked if I can use the microwave but they said the kitchen was closed which was upsetting. It was also a bit noisey being you are next to a bar. The good thing about this hotel is that they had a good breakfast . I think I will be stick to renting houses for now on if I stay at fire island. read more

If there was a way to give less than 1 star, this would be the time. The nastiest woman (her name is BRENDA) in any customer service/booking department I have ever spoken to. This may be my second or third Yelp review ever and I have been a member for 5+ years. That is how rude and unaccommodating BRENDA was. Not only that, she would not allow us to book rooms if there were boys staying in the suite. She told my girlfriend she has had bad experience with boys and would not allow her to book, even after offering a security deposit that was more than was required. If I could give zero stars I would, here's why. Booked the larger apartment back in March for 2 families of four and due to their antiquadated system, they double booked the same apartment which we found out upon check-in. Since the guests were already checked in to that apartment and were staying longer they refused to move them. They offered us the smaller apartment with a slight discount I had to beg the owner Harvey for or our deposit back which would have meant we packed up for no reason and would have nowhere to stay. Although we had very disappointed children with tears running down their faces we chose to take the smaller apartment with 2 cots in living room, 2 twin beds in one room and 1 queen in the other. Luckily our husbands were only visiting us for dinner each night or they'd be sleeping on the beach. The cots were awful, my back went out the next morning from one that dipped right in the middle from broken springs. I had to go buy aleeve the next morning for the pain. Walked over to the office to request this cot be swapped out and the young lady said so sorry and called in my request to who I'll never know. Ran into the maintenance worker during the day and I asked if he was bringing the new cot and he said there were no others, we had the only 2. Figured oh well just another problem here. I was in town with my kids that night, saw the same maintenance worker who refused to give me his name wheeling a cot down the block and I said, yay, thank you, you found 1. He said no, this is for another guest. My jaw dropped. I said you lied to me earlier when you said there were no others. I was fuming but I had no other options but to sleep on the couch next to my 8 year old on the other cot. Yes, you leave a gratuity at check in but it should be at check out so they actually clean it for you. All the beds were sandy when we got there, floors sandy, bathroom shower sandy, bugs flying around. I would rather pay more money and rent privately through a homeowner that actually wants you to enjoy the full Ocean Beach experience. Not just a place that says kids are resilient. Ours were so disappointed and cried each night at bedtime. Ugh, what an awful experience staying there. So no, I will never recommend staying here. We are sorry they got paid at all. read more

We stayed in the Bay House apartments and it could not have been worse. From ants and mosquitos infesting the apartment to an incredibly rude and unhelpful "staff" led by a bitter old man with no business ethics at all whatsoever. Our AC broke and it took them hours to come and fix it. I would highly recommend staying at the Palms hotel bungalow apartments which are right next door and much nicer. Blue water is not worth even half of the ridiculous amount we had to pay. Stay here at your own risk. read more

Do not trust that the Blue Waters Hotel will honor your reservation. Despite receiving a written confirmation in April for reservation in August, Bunny cancelled my reservation shortly after the July 4th holiday. She refused to reply by email, instead leaving cryptic messages on my cell phone. When I finally reached her on the phone, rather than trying to resolve a conflict and misunderstanding of a valued customer, she rudely hung up the phone on me. Apparently, the Blue Waters Hotel does not respect their customers. read more

I am completely appalled and disgusted with this anti American/military hotel. My son, home for a short leave from the Navy after a six month deployment, was registered to stay at the Blue Waters Hotel. This was a gift from his girl friends mother so that the two could relax and enjoy each other away from the hustle and bustle. My son is 22 and his girl friend 21. When they arrived they were met with a very rude person telling them that they could not stay there as it is Ocean Beaches policy to not allow anyone under 25 to stay there. When they called the girl friends mother she tried to appeal to the good nature of the witch working the desk to no avail. She would not budge and was rude, nasty and hung up on the girl friends mother. The police were called and they tried to talk the woman into letting them stay. There they were with baggage in hand and no place to stay. My son has been around the world protecting his country and this is how he is treated here at home. This is disgusting and I have to wonder what this woman's agenda really was. I will be demanding to know why this happened and will NEVER stay here or refer anyone there again. read more

Not actually a hotel - more like a hostel or a dorm. Rooms are EXTREMELY small, as are the beds, which are hard as boards and made up with cheap sheets. They don't provide maid service or any other amenities aside from towels. And yet, you are required to pay $15 a day up front as a "gratuity" for cleaning service. In my book, gratuity should be provided for services rendered - asking for payment up front and then not providing the service is called stealing. How this place can justify the rates they charge is beyond me. The front desk staff were incredibly rude and argumentative and refused to give us a receipt for our room. Clearly they are just trying to screw their customers out of as much money as they possibly can. read more

We stayed in the Apartments with a few other FAMILIES.. We have children under 13. The first night 4 children ages 6 and 7 were playing hide and seek in the apt. at 10:30 PM. Apparently the people below us complained. The front desk first line of action is to tell us the next day that if we do the same that night that we will be kicked out with NO refund for the next two nights. No "Please keep it down" or "I know its your vacation too but if can please just keep it down after 10". Right to... you and your FAMILY will be kicked out. They told us to tell our children to tip toe and whisper. So if you have a family.. with children this place isn't for you. The beds are SO HARD! They issued me a refund for my deposit that never went through because their 'machine wasn't working' and ran it on another machine. Didn't work. Never got refund. I ended up having to dispute it with my credit card company. Rent a home. Don't stay here. read more

This is an average hotel at best. The beds are uncomfortable, the rooms are bland, and the service is terrible. They do lend you chairs/towels for the beach and the morning breakfast on the porch is nice. The staff was very difficult when checking in. It has the feel of a motel, not a fun seaside hotel. read more

I made a reservation for my 21 year old daughter and her 22 year old boyfriend so that they could enjoy a private overnight escape after his 6 month Naval deployment. The friendly receptionist who took the reservation and my credit card info yesterday did not ask their age nor did she inform that there was a POLICY that guests must be 25 or older to stay at the hotel. However, today as the couple tried to check-in, they were sent away by a different representative who later refused to give me her name. She told the couple this was because of an Ocean Beach law that guests in hotels must be 25. As soon as I found this out, I called the hotel to ask her if an exception could be made in this case. I explained that Kevin was serving his country in the Navy and was just home for a short leave. They were now wondering around Ocean Beach with their luggage and no place to stay. She again stated it was an Ocean Beach law and no exceptions could be made. She was very nasty about it and rudely hung up on me, stating that her response would not change no matter what the circumstances may be. When I tried to call back to request a refund, she told me to not call again because she felt I was now harassing her, the other phones were ringing and she was too busy for this. I was also refused the opportunity to leave a message for the owner of the hotel, we once knew and called Uncle Harvey because my husband and I stayed there so often in the past! I contacted the Ocean Beach Police Department and explained what happened. The dispatcher informed me that there is no such law in Ocean Beach and that this was at the hotel manager's discretion to decide what to do. He said he was disturbed that the hotel would treat a serviceman this way. He offered to help. Police officers were sent to the hotel to appeal to woman's senses to let the reservation stand. She still refused, citing that the police had nothing to do with enforcing hotel policy. A refund had already been processed electronically. I find this person's lack of compassion, respect for our servicemen and unprofessional attitude abominable. She should not be handling clients or calls for any business. We are so upset over the way this whole situation was handled and would never chose to stay here again. I have shared this message on FaceBook, Twitter and Instagram as well. The word is out, and people are mad! read more

We recently stayed at the Blue Waters Hotel. We were very pleased with the clean room and nice bathroom. The breakfast was amazing and the fact that we were able to use the chairs, beach towels and bicycles were a definite plus. We were, however, very disappointed in one staff member who unfortunately spoke with us upon arrival of our stay. Brenda was extremely rude with her remark to our family of four saying, "oh you ALL are checking in?" "oh yes, you are staying in room 20, the big room". Our stay there got off to a very bad start being greeted very rudely by this woman. My adult children even felt uncomfortable by her comments to us. She created a very bad feeling for us which was unfortunate, since this was the very beginning of our family vacation. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay at the Blue Waters Hotel. Luckily, we did not have to talk to Brenda again. A woman with blonde hair, unfortunately I didn't catch her name, was extremely pleasant and welcoming. read more
