Dogtopia of Utica - The dogs that are considered to aggressive after 10 minutes lol.

My dog was banned from this location…read more.. And here's why... another dog that was previously banned was allowed back into daycare... the reason it was banned beforehand was because the dog was aggressive towards other dogs and was impossible to get him into a crate. One day this dog started picking on several dogs, including my dog... another dog initiated a fight and several of the dogs ganged up on the previously banned dog. In the video that I have, it is clear as day that my dog was wanting to play but the banned dog kept bullying him... out of self defense, my dog bit him, the fight was broken up by staff, and my dog didn't put up a fight when it was crated. The other dog (at least 70 lbs) laid himself out refusing to be crated. Some of the staff are not trained properly at all to prepare for situations like these... it's clear. My dog has never been ball aggressive or anything of that nature... but the staff should know what dogs play better when they have balls or toys to play with... I've heard from previous employees that several of the current staff members didn't like working in rooms with my rambunctious shepherd because they were afraid of him (his bark sounds very aggressive, but he's honestly the sweetest, most rambunctious puppy). They would keep my dog crated for hours... some days he'd come home from daycare smelling of pure dog urine. To top it all off, the owner doesn't even like dogs. Quite laughable if you ask me.

We brought our 2 dogs in for a trial (a king cavalier spaniel puppy and golden cavalier mix) and…read moreafter 10 minutes they determined our mini golden was aggressive. (They put another puppy in the room with her that jumped on her and she snapped towards the puppy to warn it to not jump in her...typical dog behavior). They immediately said BOTH our dogs were not a good fit after that 1 interaction. Putting our dogs in a new environment and releasing a small puppy at our dogs and determining we were the ones with a problem is puzzling. We have NEVER had our golden bite, show aggression or have any issues with this before. I am just glad I could see what this facility was like before we invested or ever considered boarding them here.

I do NOT recommend Pawz Inn for grooming. While their boarding services are fine, their grooming…read moreservices are sub-par. I dropped off my German shepherd for grooming services. They cleaned her fine but they didn't have the tools necessary to get to her undercoat. This has caused some serious matting to my dog's undercoat. At first glance, she seemed fine. Her coat was clean and she was fluffy. However, upon further examination, I noticed her undercoat was severely matted, to the point where she's in pain any time I try to rake her coat to resolve the matting. They had called me and told me that they "tried their best" and that they couldn't get to her undercoat properly. But I wasn't aware it was this bad. She didn't have any matting before I dropped her off. After trying to get her mats out for a week myself, I had to go to another groomer to fix the mats. It took several hours and over $180 to fix the problem they caused. They might be fine for small dogs or short coat breeds, but if you have a large dog with a thick undercoat, DO NOT bring your dog here. If they didn't have the tools necessary, they should have let me know from the beginning. I would've rather had them deny service than deal with the repercussions of them doing the poor job they did. They even charged me the full $100 for the grooming when all they did was make my dog matted.

I feel like the negative reviews in here are from disgruntled ex-employees. . I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with everyone, from the owners to the staff. They love our dogs, and I never, EVER worry about them when they're at Pawz Inn!
