My dog Stella loves it here. We drive 20 minutes and pass like 3 closer pet boarding places to bring her here. I also like that they have pretty strict standards for vaccinations and behavior. It makes me feel like my dog is as safe as possible and that she is less likely to catch something. I highly recommend taking your puppies here as well for the puppy behavior classes. When we began at Bark-A-bout's facility on 23 mile, we were excited - this was short lived. Our experience was very negative. We will never allow our dog to be mistreated the way she was mistreated at this facility. Our dog attended Barkabout's daycare for under 3 months. We have been to other daycares/training facilities and never had such a negative experience. As we used their services; the attitude of dog caretakers, care and lack of cleanliness became apparent. To begin - Our dog would be freshly bathed before being dropped off to Barkabout's facility. She would come home absolutely reeking, with paws red, painful and inflamed. She soon developed multiple red, infected abscesses (that would burst), which she never had prior prior to enrollment at this facility. These abscesses required multiple weeks of medication/antibiotics to heal. Following a weekend of boarding at Barkabout she came home with large, red, painful, infected nipples which required antibiotics. Additionally, she also reeked and looked neglected. We had sent her to boarding with a hoodie for warmth; it was so dirty I believe they did not remove it for the entire weekend. As time went on my husband and I began receiving rude, prejudice, inappropriate report cards from the dog care takers. In one particular report card they bashed and nit picked our dog. They then ended the report card by casually citing our dog had been injured in their care. The report card crassly stated, "Also, your dog popped a growth due to her rough play". (This was in reference to the painful; infected abscesses our dog developed on her paws closely following her enrollment in Barkabout) There was no compassion or apology offered in this report card for our dog being in pain - instead they placed blame and spoke down about her. We were very upset by the rudeness and lack of compassion shown toward our poor, sweet dog. It is clear that Barkabout's facility is not properly cleaned, under-staffed/staffed with incompetent care takers. The dog caretakers were rude, unable to communicate concerns properly and appropriately to create a positive play/care setting for the animals they care for. The only care-takers I can speak highly of at Barkabout are the vet techs, who were the only staff who communicated appropriately regarding her multiple paw infections that developed during her stay at Bark-about. Our dog's painful paw infections ceased shortly after we stopped her short lived time in Barkabout's day care. I am happy to share that our dog's paws are back to normal; clean, non-painful and healed now that she stays within our care and our new, clean daycare facility. We have been to 2 daycare/training facilities since our terrible experience with Barkabout. These other facilities are far superior in the areas of cleanliness, staffing, safety. They speak highly of our intelligent, trainable dog. We are so happy to be at new facilities who value our dog's health and care for her appropriately. We feel safe leaving our dog now. For your dogs health and safety, steer clear of this facility! ***Attached is a picture of the nipple infection our dog came home with after her weekend boarding stay. You can view the difference in size between her normal nipple and inflamed nipple. It took 2 weeks of treatment to get her nipple back to normal. read more

We love Bark-A-Bout! We have not taken advantage of the boarding or day care but we often book private pool sessions for our senior dogs. It's easy and priced great! The pool is clean and heated and our dogs LOVE working out there. It really helps keep them in great shape. Love the gift shop too! The candles they sell are my favorite. read more

I love Bark a Bout but there recent price increases are outrageous! From $55 to $70! I have to find a new place.

We were reluctant to put my pup in daycare, but with an upcoming trip that will require her to be kenneled, we set out to find a place we were comfortable with. My fur baby is part of my family, and not being able to explain things to her gives me anxiety. When I came in, I was promptly greeted. The front desk staff was very friendly and answered all questions and put my mind at ease. Some of my questions were questions were unique. She then took us on a tour of the facility. This was an unannounced visit so I was happy to see that it was very clean. We had the opportunity to go upstairs and watch the pups all play. This made me feel better as well. The dogs were all well controlled. Any rough play was immediately stopped. Dogs with special needs received special attention. It all appeared very organized and well controlled. They have an alternative medicine vet on site. They have grooming on site. The prices were reasonable. The kennels were clean and large. They have a geriatric suite and a VIP suite. Both look like living rooms. We then scheduled a meet and greet. Luna came in and spent the entire day there. The cost of this is $22 but this is waived if you schedule two days of daycare or two days of kenneling. We received an email with a report card half way through the day. It was a very detailed report of how she did. When we picked her up, she was brought out and the handler came and spoke to us about how she did. She was exhausted so we know she played hard and had fun! There is even a web cam that you can log into remotely and watch your pup play. We already scheduled two days a week for the upcoming weeks then she will stay there while I'm out of town over night. I will update this review after she stays overnight. But to be honest, I think she's going to love it. read more

No problem with that, but the soonest they can get anyone in is 2 months out? And by that time you will need another month of notice to get the weekend you want. Tessa loves coming to Barkabout! She gets to burn energy hangout with friends and she's soo tired when she gets home! This is a top notch place to bring your baby the handlers are wonderful and the whole staff is very knowledgeable and helpful always super friendly! When I drop Tessa off they take her right away and when i pick her up they bring her right out! Super efficient! Tessa also loves to swim in the pool as well, she even invites friends to come along!! I started taking my PomChi Dozer here for grooming in July of 2022 just after adopting/rescuing him. He's been getting groomed by Amanda and she does a wonderful job and always smells so good afterwards!! The place is always clean and the receptionists are always happy and kind. They are knowledgeable and helpful. I've never had any problems. My dog is always happy when he sees Amanda and enjoys getting groomed by her. AAAA+++++++ Service and I always tell people looking for a groomer to ask for her. They also offer daycare, aquatics classes. They offer boarding services for both dogs and cats which is really nice. We absolutely ADORE Bark-A-Bout! This is our second dog we've taken there and both can't get enough. Everyone who works there truly loves dogs and have treated ours like their own and both of our pups start whining with excitement when we get to the parking lot! Our favorite part is the HUGE play area; both indoors and out. The play groups are well managed and the handlers are always kind and playful. When both the pooch and staff get excited when we walk in the door we know we've found a wonderful place. This is the best place for dog care in Michigan - Our Hannah (Yellow Lab) just loves this place - she knows every Saturday is her play day and swim day - Karen takes great care of her in the swimming pool - and the other handlers keep an eye on her in the play areas - I trust my dog here anytime - Next week I'm trying out the grooming side - with my new puppy Snickers - He needs a haircut - I'm excited to introduce him to this place as well - he will be a year old come July :) I know he will love going here as much as Hannah does - hahaha Keep up the great work - and quality care !!! read more

Was so pleased with everything. My dog Jasper had the best day of his life here! We have only done one day so far but plan to attend many more times. I would absolutely recommend them. The staff is very responsive to emails and calls as well as sending a report card at the end of the day! Also major kudos to the girls who freeze their butts off outside for the play time. They don't just hide inside where it is warm. They play outside with your dog for hours in the freezing cold. Good job girls. It was something that stood out to me! Update: I have to lower my rating of this place. Nobody ever picks up the phone! Across 5 days I have sat on hold for 40 min. Only one of those days did I get through and that was after 20 min on hold. I just wanted to schedule services each time but I am never able to do so. Sad to see this. I have to take my dog and money somewhere else because they don't care enough to answer their phone. read more

Best doggie daycare around! I had high anxiety over leaving my boo, but he has been a regular for hotel and daycare over the last 4 years. I have left him for 9 day vacays and he comes home happy. I took my dog to BarkABout for an alternative to Wagntails closer to home. We were very impressed with the tour of the beautiful facility along with an outdoor play area. Unfortunately, I had my husband check on our dog during her four hour trial. He didn't see her. SHE WAS CRATED. Too many large dogs that day. The dogs needed to take turns playing. I DONT PAY TO HAVE MY DOG CRATED!!! I pay for her to play with other dogs. Right down the road there's Camp Bow Wow just opened. A much better option where dogs play all day. When they reach capacity they won't take any more. read more

Our dog Maggie LOVES Bark A Bout! She drags us in. She goes for Day Care and grooming. Staff is great and facility is clean. I especially like checking in on her during the day on the cameras. My only recommendation is to not call in the morning if you need something. Wait until later in the day. They are busy in the morning and have long hold times on the phone. My deceased dog was a client of Doc Sheppard above Bark-A-Bout. I decided then if I ever had another dog, they would spend time at Bark-A-Bout. In comes our 2 rescues. Our precious girls have been coming here for nearly 9 years. They just about bust through the car doors trying to get to the play yard. They have learned to be very social and play well with the group. Both have taken swim lessons and swim weekly as well. All of the trainers show a true love for the fur clients and the pups recognize that. We are able to travel and know that our girls well be well cared for and loved while we are away. I can't find enough words to tell you how amazing this place is. It's clean, doesn't smell "doggy" and there is SO MUCH ROOM for the pups to play inside and outside! read more

Tyson absolutely loved everything about Bark-A-Bout from the experienced staff, HUGE outdoor play area and spacious hotel suites. He was a regular from day one up until he passed in January. Barkabout had now served a new purpose to our family as I bring my 2 yr old to visit and watch the dogs play from the viewing area . I am very disappointed with this facility. I signed my dog up for swim lessons, because I thought this would be a great idea prior to summer and being exposed to the lake. Well, I was wrong. When I first walked in, it appeared that the employees did not enjoy their job. The girls rolled their eyes at the desk, after they left to go get the instructor. The instructor was something else. Truly disappointed. When you pay for private swim lessons, then I believe the instructor should be getting in the water with you. I was instructed not to use formal commands because the space should be fun. However, when your dog understands the commands you are teaching them, then you should continue to use those commands otherwise your dog will be confused. So I did as she said and I used commands my dog did not comprehend. Second, she kept trying to "teach" me how to bring my dog in the water, but I kept being told I'm doing it wrong. Okay lady- get in the water with me. She judged me for taking my dog to a certain training facility, which I believe, if you are judging me for that, then you are clearly not educated on different types of training methods. She questioned the dog toys that I brought. At home, my dog loves the toys- they probably shouldn't squeak because water will get in the toys and if the water doesn't come out then there is mold in your dogs toys. The instructor asked me if she could bring her dog in the pool with my dog to encourage my dog to get in- I said sure. Little did I know that her dog was going to pee on the wall (there's a fee if a dog defecates in the pool). Of course, she takes the pool water to rinse off the wall. Since my toys weren't good enough or "playful" enough, she brought out tennis balls. THOSE DON'T SQUEAK EITHER! This was just an awful experience. My session was suppose to be an hour, but I was ready to leave 15 minutes in. We only stayed for 30 minutes in the pool, and then I left. I HATED every single part of that session, and she really ruined that experience for both me and my dog. I would NEVER recommend any of my dog moms to go to this facility for swim lessons, and I probably would never recommend anyone to this facility. The facility itself was nice, but you easily tell that everyone I encountered, hated their job. read more

I take my dog here all the time for training, day care and kenneling and have never had a bad experience nor has my dog ever gotten sick. My dog gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot! In June, my dog stayed for 4 days and came home with kennel cough. Today, I picked him up from a long weekend and even though his report card said he had a great weekend and was super friendly and happy, was told that my dog got aggressive with another dog and therefore suffered a puncture wound near his eye from one dog and another bite on his hind leg due to another dog coming in on the same incident. My dog is large and therefore gets put in with the other big dogs, but he does not have an aggressive bone in his body. Obviously they brought another dog in this morning that was aggressive and attacked my dog. I was told these things just happen, and I get that, but I was also told that my dog tried to let the other dog know he was "done"...why was this situation not taken care of quicker then if they saw this going on instead of letting it escalate to the point of my dog getting bit? Also, I have found another laceration on his nose since bringing him home and he is raw all around both ears where it looks like they let another dog chew on him. This is NOT okay Bark A Bout. I was willing to forgive the kennel cough, but now I am feeling they are just downright negligent. And to be told that it was my dog that was being aggressive when I picked him up is absolutely ridiculous, I am pretty sure a huge apology was more in order. read more

My girlfriend and I really tried with this place a few years ago. We ended up speaking with the owner about a question we had and all we get was a frazzled and very stressed out and defensive woman who wasn't hearing our question as anything other than criticism. Pleased with the daycare from this facility! I feel very safe and secure with my dog being there - haven't done an overnight yet but this is the place I would entrust my puppy to. Very clean and friendly staff. I do wish they let the dogs play longer - 4.5 hours of play broken up throughout a 9-10 hour day Doesn't seem long enough for my puppy he's not tired out when i bring him home. I travel to Michigan several times a year to visit with family and bring my dog with me. I always take her to Bark-a-Bout for their play sessions and daycare rather than crating her in a strange hotel room. I've watched her in playtime several times and she always has so much fun. The staff keep a close watch on all the dogs and I can tell that everyone there truly loves their job and loves the animals. The facilities are always clean, and there's so much to keep the pets entertained, active and healthy. I wouldn't even consider taking my fur-baby anywhere else. read more

Terrible Customer Service, we made a reservation months in advance and when we called to confirm that all of our dogs records were up to date with them, they told us that they had "emailed us" to let us know that our dog needed the flu vaccine. Unfortunately they were emailing to an invalid email address and now 8 days before we leave they won't take our dog. Have used them for years and would expect more communication like maybe a PHONE CALL, since it was a week before our drop off date. When asked about phone call reply was "Our Vet Tech calls a week before". Why call a week before when the Flu Vaccine takes 3 weeks? Will never recommend this place again nor take our animal there. Stop relying on emails and actually have a phone conversation with a consumer who has been going to you for years.
