I used Blue Sky Services June 2017 for my kitchen renovation. Up front Eric & Michael were very personable and said all the right things to put our minds at ease as we had researched & saved for many years to build our kitchen. Fast forward December 12, 2018 our final electrical inspection was just completed. I do really enjoy my new kitchen however I would have been just as happy with a different contractor who didn't juggle so many projects at once. It has taken me a long time to even get around to writing this review as I was torn between the love of my new kitchen and the utter disappointment which is Blue Sky's service. So many things occurred during this renovation from the subcontractors they used that literally trashed my kitchen during the tear down....I realize that sounds petty but when the home owners are still living in the home leaving chicken wing bones & razor blades on the floor is totally unacceptable. Other things was just lack of response from anyone within the company. Weeks would go by with no communication or work being done. The design layout was provided by us, we did not take long to make selections so in this case it was not the homeowners holding up progress. The case being Blue Sky has too many projects going on at any given time to really commit to the successful completion of any. Also they never returned to finish the punch list & the gate clicker we loaned them to gain access to the property they never returned despite us calling & emailing to ask for its return. Lastly, our granite countertop has recently chipped off at the corner... I realize this would be the granite installation company not Blue Sky but I have no idea who they used & we have called numerous times to inquire & no one will call us back. This last encounter or lack of has been the reason for this review to finally come to light. They cannot even be bothered to call a former client who is only trying to get a name & number so we can get the chip in our counter repaired. HOMEOWNERS BE WARNED! Once this company has your money they're out. Save your money a little more & use a smaller reputable contractor to get the service & craftsmanship you deserve. We have learned our lesson & are not using Blue Sky for our next renovations. read more

We are utterly disappointed in our interactions with Blue Sky (BS) and would recommend anyone reading this to look elsewhere or make sure you get bids from multiple contractors. In reading the other review from Rebecca N., we had the exact opposite problems with BS. We are doing a fairly major, expensive remodeling job (full kitchen and master bathroom) and sought bids from three contractors/designers - BS being one of them and the one that I thought, pre-bid, that we would probably end up working with. The BS rep scheduled an initial appointment, then on the morning of the appointment cancelled due to an illness with his young child - totally understandable. The BS rep rescheduled, arrived on time for the second appointment and everything seemed to go well; very business-like and straightforward. He told us that he would have a bid to us as early as 2 days but more likely in 4-5 days. Seven (7) days later, we contacted him and inquired about the bid. He apologized, said he was busy with so many other bids and promised it again within a couple of days. Now 2+ weeks later (after receiving bids from the other two contractors), we contacted the BS rep again to inform him that we needed the BS bid so that we could move the project forward. Crickets! Nada! Zip, zero communication from BS! Needless to say, they might have ended poorly with Rebecca N., but they failed to even begin with us. We obviously went with another contractor (Trendmark) who have been fabulous. Warning to anyone considering BS for a construction or remodeling job: proceed with caution. It is rare that I offer a negative review of any organization; but, dealing with BS was simply that: BS. Very unprofessional. read more

So, 5 years ago, this company did a renovation of my bathrooms. Two weeks ago we discovered that our "quality renovation " incurred a substantial leak into my crawl space, mold, and structural failure on the joist under my toilet! We were literally told not to use the toilet!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I don't know how they are still in business. read more

After planning for a few months, we just finished our attic with Blue Sky Services in March. I can say that as daunting as a home remodel can be, Evans and Jason (our project managers) were very professional and most importantly patient with us. We had lots of questions and slowed them down at times but their communication was great and it felt like we were always on the same page. We did get a few estimates from other local companies, some were substantially lower- but in the end we felt like you get what you pay for and didn't want to cut any corners. They have been in business for a long time in Raleigh and we trusted their experience to guide our project. We would recommend them to anyone considering remodeling their house. read more

These people are uncaring and unorganized. 1.The project manager quit half way through the project. 2. The tile work was and still is subpar. The tile is crooked, the grout is sloppy and missing in areas. 3. Multiple phone calls do not lead to a response. 4. The contractors did not show when expected, and showed up when not expected. 5. We always do our homework when we plan to spend money on our number one asset, our home. We were referred to Blue Sky by a neighbor who had some work done a few years ago on a room addition. They were the only company that offered a set of completed plans as part of their estimate which helped us determine our budget and improve our value on what we needed to complete a two room addition. we also had them remodel our kitchen and master bath. The work was excellent, timely, and under budget. We highly recommend Blue Sky for anyone looking to remodel or build! read more

I just watched an episode of Bar Rescue on SPIKE channel. The work that Blue Sky Services did for the former Characters restaurant in a 36 hour time frame was amazing!! I live in South Carolina but would definitely support this local small business if I were closer. I saw the other single review and after working retail myself at a major home improvement company for 8years, I've come to realize you can't please every customer especially the ones that come in thinking they know what it takes to do their job....well do it yourself if you know so much is what I say. I hired Blue Sky in March of 2015. It is October 2015 and they still have not completed the renovation on my kitchen. They quoted aprox. 6 weeks to complete the project, but did not start until June and I have gone weeks where they did not show up. Have been without a kitchen since June. I agree with others once you pay them you experience delays and basically have to general contract your own job. Their work has not been up to standard and most of it has needed fixes. LIke Nolan hiring them has been a huge learning experience. I do not recommend them. read more

No Stars - We had 55k project that should have taken 45-60 Days. Read below. But really bad before you read below - they asked me to double up on tape to make look like cabinets front they were there so Wells Fargo would send them a check. Even worse - I had to go to ram jack to fix what they said they did - tune of near $1800. Contract said six months. New to the area,,, here is what happened. Contract was for 6 months - shame on me . They did not pay the subs (yes they came to my house asking for payment) Really sad - go to their office - it is basically not accessible. They have to have a buzzer to let you in. After a year - shame on them - 10K kitchen - paint is falling off cabinets. Met owner - he said he would work on it - gave me me and email / contact number - turns out it was false. Even worse - owner looked me in the eye said yes he would help.... nope never came. See him in harbor freight with his kid and the hummer. My wife just it is not worth embarrassing his dad in front of the his son.. Multi emails. They never paid any subs as we know as they have come to the house for payment. Painter loss 3.5K, Floor guy never got paid. Then all the guys that came to the house said they are just bad business. Really Said read more

From the start of the "sales" process, Blue Sky seemed very well put together and customer oriented. I had a fairly minor project, opening up a wall between living areas (no major structural work necessary) and taking some space from a downstairs bedroom to create a laundry/mud room. They brought a team of people out to my house to review project details, and seemed to be documenting our needs and preferences all along the way. My project was started with a vengeance, but it very quickly became evident that the company had far over extended itself and its project managers. Inspections were repeatedly failed and missed. This project took over 3 months to complete with my home being ripped apart for the majority of this time. Tradespeople were allowed to rummage around in my garage for supplies they had failed to bring with them. Communication with the project manager, the company and the subs was abysmal. Several details had to be ripped apart and redone because accurate plans were not in place and available to the subcontractors. We finally signed off on the puchlist just to get them out of our house, but the finish work was shoddy and we are still in the process of trying to repair and properly finish the work that they did. Thank God we did not have them paint, because it is giving us the opportunity/ability to correct their poor workmanship. So here is my advice if you still choose to move forward with signing a contract with Blue Sky... 1) From the very first conversation, follow up EVERYTHING in an email documented to as many people as possible. Just because you say it and they write it down does not mean it will be done that way. From the sales guy through to project completion, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN and send it via email. 2) Do not sign the contract if anywhere in it, it says the phrase "as close to existing as possible". This is their out for putting cheap things in your house that in no way align with its current structure. Make sure you document each and every material that is to be used. I would even suggest including pictures with the contract. 3) If you are someone who has a general idea about the remodeling process and is used to doing minor projects yourself, do not work with Blue Sky. Maybe they are better for someone who doesn't have any knowledge base or know to expect. 4) Be prepared to deal with a company that is large enough that they don't care about customer service and reputation. I can only guess based on my and my next door neighbors experience that they are relying on volume and locking people into contracts, not on positive customer feedback. I actually had one of their VP's stand in my home face to face with me and tell me to stop "playing the victim", so just be prepared to deal with the corporation, not a human being. I was definitely not prepared for that. Overall, this was the worst customer service experience of my life, and has solidified for me that moving forward with future projects, I will work directly with the tradespeople. I hired Blue Sky Services on July 14th 2017 to build a 2-story screened in porch on the back of my house. I hate to write that I believe I made a mistake in hiring them. For starters, when I hired them in July they told me it would take 6-8 weeks to complete. This is in line with what 3 other contractors told me, so I had no reason not to believe them. It is now March, 8 months later, and they are still not finished. Unfortunately, that is not my biggest complaint. Not only do I feel they were slow, they were very unresponsive. I learned early that it was best to have a paper trail, so I tried to keep all communications to emails and text messages. This allowed me to have everything in writing. It would take them days, and sometimes I would have to send 4 or 5 emails/texts before they would respond. Now, let's get in to the construction problems. As part of this project they had to cut down an overhang that went over my back door. This was cut down, and a gutter above it was also cut on the same day. They did not seal the opening, and when we received a big rain storm in October, the gutter was now draining into the cut off overhang. This caused a major flood through my kitchen ceiling. This happened in early October. To be honest, it was lucky that we were home, as we were able to get buckets under the leaks to prevent any damage to our floors and cabinets. We were able to contain the damage to the ceiling. Blue Sky Services was responsive at first during this incident, and did tell me they would repair my kitchen. Unfortunately when I would ask about when, I would keep getting one excuse after another why we had to wait for them to fix it. They finally told me they were waiting on the painter, and they would have the painters who painted the porch outside paint the kitchen ceiling. However, when the painters did finally arrive in December, they were completely unaware of the kitchen job. Only after I complained multiple more times did Blue Sky finally agree to let the painter complete the kitchen as well. I wish this was my biggest complaint, but once again, it is not. Around the same time the framing went up we started to notice our dryer was taking longer to dry our clothes and even two cycles sometimes wasn't enough to get our clothes dry. I will admit, our dryer was pretty old, so I assumed that was the cause. Eventually, in Jan the motor burnt out. So, since it was an old dryer we went out and bought a new one. Unfortunately, the new dryer did no better drying. So, I immediately though I must have a clog in my dryer exhaust vent. I hired a local NC company to inspect and clean my dryer vent. upon inspection with a camera scope they determined the dryer exhaust vent went straight toward the new porch, and then came to an abrupt stop. Their professional opinion was that the new porch was built right over top of the dryer vent and sealed it in. As this is a major fire hazard I had to have all new dryer vent system rerun and installed. I brought this to the attention of Blue Sky Services. No response. 5 days later I finally decided I needed to get the duct work rerouted, so I called to schedule this work. Only after I complained to Blue Sky Services that I would file a complaint with the State licensing board did they respond. I asked them to pay me for the duct work, and half the cost of the new dryer. At first they stated my request seemed fair. But then I did not hear from them for a while. After multiple attempts to contact them to see if they had everything they needed, I finally threatened again to complain to the State Licensing board. They immediately responded stating they just needed a little more time to review. Again, I gave them a couple more days, and heard nothing. Reached out again, and got no response. Threatened one more time to file a complaint, and I received an email stating that they were still reviewing, however they did not believe they blocked the dryer vent. I responded with before and after pictures showing them everything they needed. They did not respond for two weeks, which at that point I cancelled our remaining contract. It is of my opinion that they never had any intention of resolving this issue. They never came out to the house to look at the situation. I did file complaints with the State Licensing Board and the BBB. read more

If you are looking for a company who is honest, dependable, and good communicators, AVOID BLUE SKY SERVICES!!! We shopped around and got a few other quotes but chose Blue Sky because their initial estimate was within our budget. When we showed up to sign the contract, the estimate had gone up about $2,500.00! We had told them exactly what we wanted at our first meeting so there was no reason why they were so far off from their initial estimate. We had to take off several things that we wanted to have to get the project within our budget. This should have been a red flag but we were so excited to begin our project that we unfortunately made the mistake of signing the contract. We had a project that should have taken no longer than a month (replacing a master bathroom shower), but in total the project took 3 months to fully complete. A huge part of that time delay was because communication became a struggle shortly after our project got started. We never knew when they were coming unless we contacted them and then we had to wait various amounts of time before we heard back. Sometimes they showed up without letting us know they were coming and other times they didn't show up at all even after telling us they would be there that same morning. When we were able to talk to whoever we were directed to, they never gave us a straight answer. Our project was never a priority for them to finish and we always felt like we were put on the backburner which became very frustrating. Our biggest concern with this company is that they were dishonest even after we caught them in a lie. They dragged their feet to do the initial measurement for the glass in the shower and then told us it would be 10-12 days from that point. 15 days came and went and we hadn't heard anything from them. We finally called and they told us the glass was on backorder and they would let us know when it came in. Weeks went by and we heard nothing. Finally, we called the glass company and they told us that Blue Sky had never even ordered the glass! When we confronted them they told us there was a miscommunication and could not answer our questions or give us a reason why they had not ordered the glass. This lie delayed the project over a month and a half which was completely unnecessary! Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience using Blue Sky Services for our project and you should think long and hard before you use them for yours! A simple project became an absolute nightmare filled with unnecessary delays and lies. read more

We hired Blue Sky Remodeling to update a fireplace/bookshelf/media wall in a family room. They were highly recommended by a sub-contractor we had called at the beginning of our search to improve this space. Eric (owner) was prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable of what it would take to do this remodel. We met multiple times to ensure that the vision for the remodel was on track. Everything was done in a professional, contractual manner. The sub-contractors hired for this project were very punctual, professional, and skilled (subs included a plumber, electrician, cabinet maker/designer, mason, flooring). It appeared that Blue Sky's have an excellent reputation with sub-contractors and that they work to the highest standards for them like they would on their own jobs. First, the project manager used our credit card number to pay an unauthorized bill at the end of the project. There were several punch-list items that had not been addressed and we were reserving the last payment until we were satisfied. HIGHLY ILLEGAL! Second, the job took an inordinate amout of time (about 5 months of infrequent work), probably because we were being "sandwiched between" other jobs. Third, I had to stay on close guard of every aspect of the job, because mistakes, deletions were happening constantly. The final product would be a poor representation of the initial job described. Fourth, there remains an item on the punch-list which deals with sloppy finish work which hasn't been taken care of for 3 months after the supposed completion of the job. Fifth, there were items explicitly detailed on the blueprints that were not included in the final cost or construction. This was dishonest on the part of Blue Sky Services, but it was my mistake. I contacted Blue Sky last August to have an additional room put onto the house. I spoke to Dave, the owner, and his Estimator Jeremy. I was looking for a work area/den to add on because I have started working from home and wanted a more professional area to put my computer and such, instead of working on the couch. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but called a few places for estimates and Blue Sky was definitely the best rate I was given. They provided an estimate with plans drawn up as well. I have to say I wasn't floored by any estimates given to me, it was all within the ballpark I was thinking in my head. Each stage of the project there was a payment arrangement, so it wasn't like I had to come up with a huge amount upfront. The guys who worked on the house were really cool, not intrusive, always made sure it was OK to be making alot of noise, and what hours they would be doing it. Things got hectic at times, as the norm, so I would stay in Cary with my buddy, but all in all my den was built to my liking, I've got a beautiful desk set and bay windows overlooking my pond outside, so it's really a great spot to make the addition. It has taken me three months to write this; my apologies to those who employed Blue Sky in those three months! The tipping point, was notification that a lien had been placed on my home, because B S had not paid their sub for work completed, and this two months after I paid the draw for the work! This was the final insult...the last of many! I legally terminated the contract. I employed BS without doing due diligence or I would have known...these breaches in contract and integrity were not my experience alone. I entered a design/ build contract...the designer quit or was fired (depending on who you ask) before my kitchen and three bath remodel project. This happened without my knowledge and in the midst of a $3000.00 marble fabrication and install, which resulted in a huge and costly mistake, for which BS acknowledged but refused responsibility. I was then told that they had devoted enough design time to my project and would not provide more...remember I had paid for a design/build contract. I paid for other services, portable toilet, installation of appliances that they did not provide, and refused reimbursement to me. My project was poorly organized, I didn't know when work was scheduled, and if it was if they would show up to complete it. Communication was terrible, my emails were often ignored. Employees were leaving BS (designer, project manager, sub contractors) throughout my project. The supervisor was rude, arrogant and very difficult to deal with. After being expected to pay a draw for work that was not completed...photos were taken and sent to document this, BS did not return for 10 days. I contacted a lawyer and terminated the contract. I completed the project with my own subs. This is a company who cares only about profit without integrity. Buyer beware! read more
