I'm shocked there are no reviews of this restaurant on Yelp but I can see a 4.5 star rating on Google based on a few hundred reviews- this place is good! Check it out! On our last visit we got the Chirashi Bento Box at Kaisei Sushi. It featured many flavors and textures. The fresh fish, sourced impeccably, showcased a vibrant spectrum of tastes, from buttery salmon to delicate tuna. Unlike other chirashi bowls that only has sashimi on rice with some veg garnishes, this version also had torched sashimi added a smoky richness that elevated the experience, complemented perfectly by the savory BBQ eel that was served on rice. The lunch also included gyoza and fried spring rolls were a crispy and added texture. the California maki was a classic favorite done to perfection. Each element contributed to a well-balanced, filling, and incredibly delicious meal. The staff at Kaisei Sushi were not only friendly but also quick. It's a very cute and casual restaurant, there seems to be a lot of take out and delivery orders while we had lunch. There were two other tables of patrons when we ate. Kaisei Sushi features warmth and efficiency of its service, and affordable sushi. We always try to stop here every time we are in the area, and will continue to do so.

Everything started off well, we ordered a tempura appetizer that was pretty good with light batter. Sadly that was the extent of the good experience. After receiving the appetizer it took about 40 minutes to receive our main course sushi entrees. Aside from an apology there wasn't anything offered or comped for the long wait. All the sushi entrees we ordered were mediocre sadly. The quality of fish wasn't high. Unfortunately this is one of the few sushi restaurants in the area so I think that's why it has higher reviews. They do the "traditional" dishes with a twist / fusion. For example, the black cod is usually feel heavy with the miso based sauce, but they added some acidity to the sauce and they made the black cod taste rich and light (not to mention the black cod was perfectly cooked); traditionally the Brussels Sprouts would be finished by tossing balsamic vinegar over it. Sometimes that would still feel heavy. Instead, they tossed it with strawberry vinaigrette. So the acidity is very light and not too sweet. We finished our meal with the Yokai Signature Maki. Yes, they SHOULD be proud of this Maki enough to put their name on it. They hit it on the nail with the taste profile. I have a zero tolerance with spiciness, so they put the spicy mayo on the side, and I encouraged my wife to dip the Maki with it. She confirmed my suspicion that the spicy mayo took the maki to another level. We definitely will come to try other dishes. Edit: they comped us a slice of Matcha Cheesecake. While it is still not my cup of tea, but I was very impressed with how good it taste. My "dislike" is with cheesecakes because they feel heavy. Though it is still on the heavy side for me, but as soon as I spoon in a bit of the strawberry sauce, it just lightened up the whole thing. They have successfully amazed me with how well they play with taste.

Opted for their premium set ($50) each which is what my friends raved about and can say it's a solid 4.5/5! The sushi is fresh, fish is great quality and delicious. We also got their uni sushi on the side to share so we each got one piece each and it was amazing! Great quality uni that was sweet and creamy. We went to this restaurant last night to celebrate my birthday. It's a pricier place, but for a special occasion we didn't mind. The food tasted fine at the time, and the service was generally okay. Unfortunately, about two hours after I got home, I became extremely sick. I had severe stomach pain followed by intense vomiting and diarrhea for more than an hour. It was frightening and completely unexpected. I had not vomited ever for the last two years, I usually have a very strong immune system. I hadn't eaten anything else that evening that could explain this, so it is very likely food poisoning from my meal here. I'm sharing this respectfully but honestly so others are aware. A birthday dinner should never end with someone in that condition. I truly hope the restaurant reviews their food handling practices to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
