Had a real Rosa Parks in 2023 moment here! I visited with my mom to print some colored copies and…read morewhile waiting for service at the front desk my mom sat at the new self-service coffee area. A lady from the front desk yelled at my mom that she could not sit there because she wasn't drinking coffee. We told her there were no other available seats at the front lobby area and we were just getting copies so it would literally only take 5-10 minutes. She rudely told us that that area was Reserved Seating only. But no one was having coffee at the time. I promptly sent an email to the Blue Ridge Library about my experience in which the Branch manager responded with an email stating that there are a "plethora of seating" further back into the library and went on to explain that if there are no available seating at the front lobby the elderly either have to walk further back into the library for seating or must stand while waiting for assistance at the front desk lobby, instead of waiting at the coffee area whether or not there are visitors having coffee there. I find it hard to believe that every time an elderly visitor has to wait at the front desk lobby they will ask them to get up from sitting at the nearest seating (which happens to be the coffee area) just because they are not drinking coffee! Either the "plethora of seating" needs to be reorganized so that there are more seats available near the front desk lobby or this new Reserved Seating policy needs to be revised. I was very ashamed and appalled at how poorly they treated my elderly mother in her 70's!

We are new to Lewisville and my wife recently went in to get our library card. We had driven by the…read morelibrary on multiple occasions and thought it looked like a beautiful facility. My wife assured me it is just as impressive in the inside. The library has special events this summer which include the stories of three bakeries in the community: Louie and Honey's Kitchen, Ava's Cupcakes and Black Mountain Chocolate. Friday Family Films is monthly family event and they also offer Ongoing Adult Programs such as: "Hook and Loop Group" which is a monthly gathering of folks who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such; "Yoga for Beginners" which is a free session of yoga offered both in-person or virtually; "Color & Coffee Group" allowing some coloring and socializing with the library providing coloring sheets, pencils and gel pens along with coffee and tea; "Witchy Washi Crafters" which is an in-person event where folks create chalkboards (seating is limited to 10). She also learned there are two book clubs, "Tuesday at Two" and "The Friends Book Club", which allows folks to join either in person and virtual. To say we are impressed is an understatement.

I am willing to make the drive to this location out of all the other ones because of the consistency I experience here. The cleanliness of the facility, the friendliness of the staff and the multitude of offerings they have for the community are always on point. There is a wide selection of books, DVDs, plenty of computers, children's section (that is also accompanied with toys and coloring station) and many free resources. Classes and events available for all ages every week! I really feel like there is a sense of belonging here which I think is so nice!

The staff here are generally very helpful. The reference staff are resourceful and have assisted me plenty in aquiring obscure titles via intra-library loans, and call me promptly by phone when an ordered title is received. The place is always clean and neat looking both inside and out. The building design and layout is uniquely attractive and the floorplan is spacious and efficient; the views of the surrounding areas are calming. There's a very nice quiet room upstairs, with a faux fireplace and comfortable seating. The book-drop slots and window-service drive-through are convenient. I've been to more than a few libraries. South County can hold its own with any public library anywhere. Of course that's my opinion, so check it out in-person and see for yourself.
