The name was changed to Stuart for General J. E. B. Stuart, C.S.A., who was born in the county. The courthouse was built in 1852 and remodeled in 1928." A time capsule is buried to be opened in 2091. In charge of this process was a clipboard-carrying woman who was armed with the "rules" and great people skills. All sprinkled with a quick wit. Let me say that the staff (once I was ushered into my final destination) were friendly and so gracious after putting in non-stop hours on a Saturday. I happened to be their last customer of the day and they were talkative and quite funny, actually. I left with my Real ID and a renewed appreciation for those folks. Thanks, K-Ville DMV!

Though it was a cold day today i did enjoy the ride and how well maintained everything was . There wasnt anything scenic thats left as most of the trees lost all the leaves. We called in yesterday to see if the boat tours were available and they told us they were cancelled , so we called in today to check and they were open . So calling them ahead is a great idea if anyone plan to go .

Lake Townsend Marina is open to the public 6 days a week, they are always closed on Wednesdays & during Nov-Feb it is closed Wed. & Thur. The marina has 2 boat ramps for boat launching, a really nice pier for pier fishing & also has rowboats, sailboats, canoes & kayaks available for rental, they even have an 8 person pontoon boat that is available to rent. This is a well maintained, always clean & neat facility worth checking out. We sometimes get lunch & head to the lake as there are a couple of picnic tables by the docks or I've seen some folks throw a blanket on the ground under the big shade tree for a real deal picnic. And other services such as issuing replacement Social Security cards. Appointments are recommended but not necessary. Make sure you bring your Social Security number with you if you have one, as well as a government photo ID. When you enter the first floor offices waiting area, you first have to sign in on one of two computer machines where you type the answers to several questions and these machine generate your appointment ticket with a special number code which you have to have to take a seat and wait until it's called together with the window number where you should go to once called over the speaker. All the employees there are very courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, and very helpful. As long as you bring the organized appropriate documentation, you will be able to finish in a reasonable time period.
